Somewhere between Lake Sigurd and Lake Helgi...

Blue eyes peered through the cluster of leaves as a small, fox-like tail swayed from a branch. Colt had been lounging in the oak tree almost all day now, watching a few Fafners pass by from his perch. As a Sentinel, he was supposed to be looking out for any of those notorious rebels, which he doubted there was enough of them to plan any attacks soon. Besides, winter was fast approaching and the clans would have to store up on food... The Eevee almost wished a group of rebels would try to sneak into Brynhild right now. At least it would give him something interesting to do. Anything to relieve the boredom.

Nothing really helped. No matter what he'd try to keep himself amused, Colt always felt lazy during the day. However, whenever night cast a dark shade over the sky, it was as if a switch was turned on his head, making him lively and active. His tutor, Sliver, would joke around at times and suggest he was nocturnal. Perhaps that was why he preferred the shade of the trees instead of walking under that blasted sunlight.

Still, he felt like doing something to pass the time. Maybe pouncing atop the next Fafner that walked by to startle them, then innocently using the excuse of mistaking them for a rebel. Colt gave an amused snort and grinned to himself. That could work.

Lacus walked carefully through the wooded area, for she was always careful not to tread on any life, may it be a mouse or a small sproutling. Her long hair was tied up in its usual tail, but still swayed on one side of her body as she hummed quietly to herself and examined the base of each tree, looking for edible mushrooms. Around her neck was a makeshift pouch made of a large leaf, which already bore evidence of her long day gathering food for the clan.

"Haro-o! Haro-o!"

"Hm?" she murmured softly as she glanced over at her pink spherical companion, who was flapping its ears and jumping around a batch of mushroms under a large oak tree. "Oh, very good Haro! These will be perfect, thank you."

Treading softly towards the roots, Lacus laid her leaf-pouch on the ground and quickly brushed the dirt off the mushrooms. With a delicate paw, she broke off the stems and swept them into the pouch. Harvesting was certainly an enjoyable task, since it allowed her to stroll through the lands everyday, and she didn't have to kill - something she absolutely despised, although she knew that it was necessary to sustain the clan. Sacrifices would always have to be made to keep oneself alive.

"Now then, Haro, which way she would we go?" she asked her bouncing companion, unaware of the foxy Fafner hovering above her in the shadow of the large oak tree.

Colt's ears perked lightly as a glint of pink caught his eye. His head turned to where an adult Fafner and her spherical companion were strolling peacefully through the forest. He carefully calculated the size difference between them should the long-haired femme take his joke too seriously. However he hoped the element of surprise would be in his favor. The Eevee grinned as he crouched down onto the branch. He sprang foward just as the adult below him paused to choose a direction. "Banzai!" he cried as he fell towards his target.

As the top predator of the Isle, most fafners weren't exactly cautious when it came to wandering around the lands. Lacus, being the trusting motherly figure, hardly ever thought that another fafner would attack her... much less from above. So when the scream came from overhead, Lacus barely had to glance up before seeing a small furry body falling towards her. All she managed was a soft, "Oh my!" before that living missile landed on its target and her legs buckled under the weight.

"Haro-o? Haro-o?" The pink ball bounced up and down before the fafner pile, before deciding to join in and hopping on top of Colt's back. "Haro-o!"

"State your business here, rebel!" Colt barked. Although he tried to keep his facial features schooled, he was unable to keep the amusement out of his voice. Play-acting usually wasn't his style, but the foxy Fafner was curious to know how much he could get away with.

Colt blinked as something bounced onto him. He turned to find the pink sphere hopping on his back, wanting to join the pouncing, it seemed. He gave it a sly grin and placed a "finger" over his mouth in hopes to get the familiar to play along. "Aha!" he exclaimed, turning to face the back of the Harvester's head. "So you've brought reinforcements, have you?"

Lacus muffled her soft laughter at the youngster's enthusiasm. She had an affinity for kids and enjoyed their fun-loving nature, and she was always more than happy to play their games. "Oh, you've caught me, Sentinel," she said with a heavy sigh, turning her head enough to catch a glimpse of the fox. Lacus grinned discreetly as the young male tried to shush her familiar, to no avail.

"Haro-o! Haro-o!" The sphere continued to bounce around enthusiastically, circling the two Fafners as its eyes blinked red.

"Seems like my reinforcement won't do me much good," Lacus said, unable to hide the soft chuckle this time. Clearing her throat, she took on a serious expression again, though her eyes shimmered with the same amusement. "Now what must I do to convince you to release me?"

Colt couldn't help but chuckle to himself as the adult began to play along. He didn't expect to find any Fafners who would take the time out of harvesting for herbs or hunting for food to play with a kit such as himself. He watched the sphere in amusement before peering at the Harvester's response.

"Release you? My superiors would have my ears for such a suggestion! Ah, I believe you shall tell me of what you are doing with these before I consider letting you off so easily," He indicated to the makeshift pouch around her neck with his small nose.

"Planning to scavenge for what herbs Brynhild has before we loose 'em in the winter, eh? Looks like I got you red-pawed." he declared as he sat down onto the Harvester's back, blue eyes glinting triumphantly as his bushy tail flicked to the side.
