As orange and red filtered across the dark blue skies to chase away the night stars, the sun's rays spilling over the horizon breathed warmth over the deathly cold lands. The last leaves of fall could be seen clinging to the sullen branches as slivers of frost slowly crept through the withering trees. The northwestern mounts of Brynhild were darkened in the fading light, all but the peak covered in a light blanket of newly fallen snow.

Yuki sighed, a warm breath of air curling into the cold around him, as he looked longingly over the peaks. How did Cerberus fair now, fighting to survive in the harsh cold of the high mountains? Could he last through his first winter away from the warmth and safety of the village? Would he take care of Stryder, the wayward and rebellious child of the family? So many questions rushed through his confounded mind as he struggled to grasp the reason why the rebellion had occurred.

From his ledge above the village, the early shift of Fafners rising to hunt their morning meal seemed so small and faraway.. insignificant. Is this how the Nobles saw them, the Commoners? Yuki knew that his mother lived a luxurious life in comparison to the others, favored by the Nobles for her unique craftmaking abilities. But what of the others? Did they really live in such a horrid condition as to want to revolt?

But the morning sun could not answer his questions, and Yuki sighed deeply once again as he took in the view before him. The valley looked so calm and peaceful, not even showing a hint of the storm brewing over the range. And for now, Yuki enjoyed the silent tranquility as he closed his eyes and breathed in the fresh, crisp air of the early morning.

Amadorine stood at attention while watching the sun. She was a hunter, and a damn good one at that, but it didn't mean she wouldn't take time to recognize the great beauty around her. The air was crisp and cold around her and it was clear that fall was coming to an end and winter was at it's beginning.

Her eyes darted to the side as she heard movement before she saw it, and her muscles tensed, then relaxed. It was another hunter, one who's mother was in good terms with the Nobels. She didn't hate him personally, but she did dislike the favoritism in general. Part of her debated joining the Rebels as times and going off to de-throne the morons who had withdrawn themselves so far away from their people that no one knew what they looked like.

She shook her head, clearing the angry thoughts, and walked over to Yukishiro. "You're Yuki, right?"

The sound of the delicate footfalls escaped Yuki's attention, too enthralled in his own world of peace - one without the threat of the Rebels looming behind the horizon, without a dangerous cause splitting a family apart. But her voice brought him back to reality as he slowly turned his head to glance at the femme adorned in royal purple.

"Yes, I'm Yuki..." he responded slowly as he regarded the female with a wary eye. He wasn't too familiar with her but knew she was a fellow hunter in the clan. Raising his head in a slightly defiant manner, Yuki raised an eyebrow at her. "Who's asking?"

Sounded a little rude, even to his ears, but Yuki certainly didn't appreciate the intrusion upon his tranquil morning. He still had a few hours until his own shift to hunt, and he wanted to enjoy the leisurely time and relax in the sun's warmth before the cold of winter truly set in. The thought of the cold season drawing near brought his attention to her fur, a pure snow white that even he had to admire. His own fur was a clean white color, but still it faded in comparison to hers... Yuki quickly looked away as he realized that he had been staring at her.

"So what brings you here this morning?"

The tone that the male used caused her to twitch her eye in irritation. How dare he talk to her so rudely, especially since they were both hunters. "Watch your mouth, you never know who it is you can anger." It was more of a warning than a threat.

"I'm your partner for today's shift. My name's Amadorine." She looked him up and down. "What is your usual tactics for hunting." She wanted to know so she could figure out what the best strategy for herself would be.

Yuki withdrew slightly at her snappish tone, eyeing his companion carefully. He'd seen firsthand how testy a female could be at times, and he knew better than to fuel that fire. Besides, it was too early to be fighting with another Fafner already. As stubborn as he was, he wasn't stupid and knew when to stay quiet.

"My tactics?" he echoed as his mind raced quickly. Yuki had a terrible habit of never checking in with the Head Hunter for his daily 'assignments,' and he usually didn't care because he preferred hunting alone. But it seemed his partner for today had found him, so there was no escape. "Depends on where I am, I guess. Stalking and pouncing in the woodlands, and creeping close and running fast in the open plains." ...and tossing rocks at the prey once in awhile, but he would keep that silly tactic to himself.

"But aren't you a little early? Our shift isn't until mid-day." A glance to the sunrise before he turned back to... Amadorine, was it? That certianly was a mouthful.

Amadorine flickered her tail a little as she listened to the male. It sounded almost like he played things by ear, but then again that was the best way to hunt at times. One couldn't control everything, so to always be on one's toes was the best tactic in the end.

"I could ask the same question about you; you're here early as well." She chuckled. "Of course, knowing your past record of leaving early and going out on your own, I was advised by the Head Hunter to arrive early." It was dangerous to be out alone, and while she prided herself in her abilities, Amadorine did know that there were times where she had needed her partner because of unforeseen circumstances.

Yuki glanced at the female, shifting his weight slightly when he chuckled. It always made him slightly anxious when other fafners laughed in his presence, in case they were laughing at him. He discreetly glanced himself over to check for any strange markings that he might have missed, pretending to look over his surroundings. Finding nothing, he looked at Amadorine.

"Actually, I couldn't sleep... there seems to be some sense of restlessness in the air," Yuki replied with a heavy sigh, knowing that many others probably also suffered from the recent events. But now was not the time to think about the Rebels, for there were more important matters at hand - like how to avoid the Head Hunter. Seems like his elder had gotten smarter.

"I've had a lot of slow hunting partners that seem to be more trouble than help. I hope you're not going to be like one of them," he commented as he looked at Amadorine's cloak. Yuki never could understand how other Fafners could hunt with so much clothing on, but now he was kind of curious about that. "Your accessories don't get in the way?"

Amadorine smirked, looking at Yuki and judging him up and down. "I hope you're not one to slow me down. I hope you can keep up with me boy." One of the reasons the elder had sent her instead of the others was the fact that she was fast and accurate. The question now was if this young male who was so full of himself could keep up with her.

She laughed full heartedly as the question about her clothing and accessories came in. "Nope, not in the slightest. I suppose I've worn them long enough that they're just part of me."
