Bril'baril Is A Village. Not an Empire - Not a Kingdom. [Actual Story Begins Post 4] Player name: [GS] Sailor Midnight Sample Post: Midnight, for a while now, had been sitting upon the ground inside a white room with no furniture, both her legs and her arms crosses as she stared forward with somewhat of a neutral face. Actually, that didn't happen to be much different than any other facial expression recently. However, this time she only offered a few blinks and sighs of restlessness.
Her shadow was cast on the wall behind, which for someone normal would be nothing out of the ordinary. After a few moments of what seemed to be a never ending staring contest between her and whatever item, or person, was in front, her shadow began to have noticeably different breathing pattern from hers. Then, it extended an arm to scratch its head as Midnight continued to sit still.
"WHAT are you staring at???" It spoke loudly with its own movement to face Midnight.
"Them."
The shadow turned straight forward, then cocked its head to the side, "..Why?"
Midnight shrugged, "I think they expect me to tell them a story or something."
"Why? What kind of story??" the shadow insisted upon knowing.
"Whatever kind of story I feel like! Shut up, Sanguine." She snapped at it.
"YOU shut up!"
"Whatever.." she grumbled. "I think I already wasted enough of their time. I'll give them what they want." She uncrossed her arms as she dragged out a book she had hidden behind her. "This story and whatever sucks and it's written in third person, but, if you want to hear it that's fine." she stated as she opened up the pages, but not before adjusting her sunglasses.----- Full Name: "...Seriously? It's just Midnight, okay?" Picture (Midnight Left, Sanguine Right) Age: "People say I look 23-ish..? But I forgot." Actual age near 500, if not more. Weight: 170lbs Height: 5'7" Birth Date: July 16th Zodiac Sign: Cancer Hair Color: Black Eye Color: Matte grey General Body Description: Slender body structure, chocolate colored skin, short hair with bangs. In reference to clothing, she'll mostly wear black long pants, long sleeved sweaters & sneakers. Sunglasses aren't much of a fashion statement as they are to protect her eyes from the light. She'll also wear a crescent moon pin, most of the time placed in her hair Place of Origin : Bril'barill. Small, secluded forest village within a southern continent on planet Earth. Personality: She is mostly introvert until one gets to know her more. She seems distant as she does not take well to new face. Though, when one gets to know her, they'll find out she can sometimes be as silly as a child and a sweet, caring friend. In few situations, she will be indifferent which would help lead her to making sound decisions, even if it deals with a quarrel between friends. Phobia: Crowds of people. No matter how small or large. Even if the crowd's nowhere near her. Unless she knows at least 1 person. Favorite Food: Bento box meals. Favorite Color: Black and dark purple hues. Other Favorites: Hanging out in cool shaded areas, which usually end up being within trees or dark city alleys. Dislikes: Bright lights, the Sun. Strengths: Determination, good eye sight in darkness, agile Element of Influence: Shadow/Illusion Weaknesses (Physical): Knees, lower back. Cannot lift heavy weights. Weaknesses (Element): Light Natural Abilities: Enhanced vision Powers: Shadow manipulation (consider Shadowmancy in story) Background: "...African?" She shrugs, guessing the rest of the background will be told in story. Sailor Midnight's Attacks/Abilities(1)Unnamed: As a natural ability to control her shadow & create objects from it, she can create weapons to fight with usually in the form of a double edged sword or two handed scythe. (2)"Psuedo-Energy": Usually in the form of a purple hazy energy sphere. This sphere can either be created as one large ball formed between both hands, or separate spheres in each hand that can be tossed at the enemy. The spheres vary in size & strength equally (smaller=weaker/larger=stronger). As soon as one is released, Midnight can choose to have more instantaneously appear in her hands. (3)"Silhouette Needle": She'll create numerous needles that will stretch from her shadow, and can either have them all attack one target, or split them between different targets. (4) "Silhouette Mirage" (Super Sailor Only/currently not available): A much stronger attack not learned until her Super form. She can create illusions/clones of people or objects from her shadow as a defense against an enemy. (5) "Silhouette Proxy" (Super Sailor Only/currently not available): Cobras, be it one or more, are formed from her shadow. They had fire red eyes that instill fear into her opponent, and have sharp fangs. They have the ability to possibily freeze an enemy such as Medusa's snakes had, or just bind them right before the final blow

"Somewhat Family 'History' and more..." Midnight's family comes from a rather short lineage of Shadowmancers. Her people tend to live long lives with their few elders currently reaching their 10 thousand year milestones. Most households will have immediate family with parents & siblings. Usually, grandparants & beyond are housed in special "courts" due to their protection they provide to the village. These courts are open to all in the village to seek wisdom and special training from them. Father: Puste Moczary (pic to come later tektek for now) Current Status: Captured - presumed alive. Known History: Puste Moczary was one of Bril'barill's top trainers, and a watch guard of the courts. He was a hard working man with a part time duty as a blacksmith assistant. His dream was to watch his children grow up & train them to one day help keep the village. Due to unfortunate events, he was captured by the enemy in the line of duty as is now assumed he was taken as use for a slave. Mother: Trollow Bauau (pic to come later) Current Status: Captured - presumed ??? Known History: Trollow Bauau was a healer, and worked on creating and improving medicine. Her skills as a shadow mancer were very nill, and was quick to refuse training. Most of the villagers were satisfied with that as she acted as a doctor for them. Due to unfortunate events, she was captured by the enemy and is assumed dead by most. Midnight has no spoken feelings regarding either parent. Younger Brother: Krowie Psy -[Now existent in Gaia under the name of "Shadow Krowe" played by a friend irl] Current Status: Alive and well! Known History: Village Hooligan. That pretty much sums him up. Krowie Psy is a young boy only reaching near 100 years. He acts as a normal human preteen would. Pretending to act "badass" and would endlessly bother his older sister & everyone else around him. But, he was still sweet & was able to be aware of a serious situation. During the unfortunate event, he attempted to rescue his parents & failed. He still feels guilt ridden while he stayed behind to help rebuild the village. First Born Krowna Endaiv "Midnight" pic Current Status: Alive. Known History: Krowna Endaiv was known mostly for "lounging & singing all night" by her father. She never liked large crowds of unknown people, and even though this phobia was never directly approached, her father still respected her & trained her skills in private. Taking enough seriousness to her training, at least, she developed her abilities quicker than most others that had been her age. As a Shadowmancer, her abilities are to manipulate shadows, create illusions, camouflage into shadows themselves, and to interact and fight against the demons that plagued her village at night. Solider History: Accidental {ie: No previous knowledge of prior existence as a Sailor Soldier. Not as a past life, now, or in future} One night, Midnight had been out in the forest gathering food for her family when something fell from the sky onto the ground. It was a moonstone jewel shaped in a crescent moon. She didn't pay too much mind to it as she pocketed it & kept doing her task. On her way back home, she was attacked by a demon that she thought would kill her. Nearly convinced that the event taking place couldn't be happening she shouted a number of phrases in her language. "Metrrillion Kanthoz" being one of the last which roughly translated to be "Deep-Rooted Delusion" In that instant, dark shadows released from the jewel & engulfed her soon disappearing to reveal Midnight as a Sailor Senshi. She didn't know what to do at first, but knew she didn't want to die! So she did what she could to keep the demon at bay, noticing with her trained moves they were much more powerful, and that she could also create balls of energy. After the demon was defeated, she collapsed on the ground. She woke up in the morning with full memory of the events, but she figured noone would believe her if she told her family or the elders, so instead, she went home & stated a demon attack & she fought it like anyone else would have, never mentioning the jewel. To this day, she is still not fully aware of the trials and responsibilities of a true Sailor Soldier due to the absence of a mentor, therefore lacks moral reasoning in most instances. She more or less muddles her way through using what she learns from others. A huge majority of Sailor Midnight's attacks are unspoken due to having her natural ability as her weapon. One exception is "Pseudoenergy" which is as dark purple energy sphere she can create to become any size carrying a heavy mass. As of now, none have been created any bigger than the size of a basketball.

Midnight's Shadow~ Full Name: "Sanguine. Heh, yeah. That's all the full name YOU'LL ever get" (pic to come later) Despite the meaning of his name (cheerful, etc..), he is quite the opposite. Rude, obnoxious, and loves every minute of it. He even tries to bring Midnight's self esteem down a few notches - to no avail as she never believes a word he says about her. Over the years he's tagged along with Midnight he learned to tone down his attitude, but it still comes out here & there... Life before Midnight: Sanguine has not always been "just a shadow" as he is sometimes referred to by Midnight. He himself is a demonic creature whom existed to serve in King Illtar's army in the past. He carried a pale humanoid form with a scythe as a weapon. Per the king's orders, Sanguine's had to carry out a mission to find & kill whoever it was destined to threaten their dynasty. Midnight caught Sanguine's attention one night when she was in the woods by herself after the jewel fell from the sky. He sent a minion out to test her strength and by sheer luck, he had found the one. After a week, he had the King authorize a full ambush unto the village resulting in the death of hundreds and the capture of others, including Midnight's parents. In her attempt to save them as Sailor Midnight, she was confronted by Sanguine. They engaged in a brawl lasting for hours when he eventually gave up. At the time they were matched in strength & were unable to kill one another. He attempted to retreat as Midnight encased him in a shield to force him to help get her family back. Sanguine gave thought before they both came to an agreement that if she could help him hide his continuing existence (and failure) from the King, he would help get her family back. It was figured the best was to achieve this was if he hid as her shadow, and taking upon a new name. (or A name as Midnight never knew a prior name to call him) Life as a Shadow: At anytime, Sanguine can separate himself from Midnight's shadow. However an effect from this will be leaving Midnight fatigued until his returned. Reason for this is still unknown to both. As Midnight's shadow, he doesn't seem to do a lot unless asked directly by her to assist in a battle. Very few times will he act on his own, unless it's to eat or argue with Midnight. Other times, he'll keeps his guard up in case Midnight fell to danger. Which..in any case he'll still contemplate on helping her or not. He has very few abilities himself as a shadow. He can only manipulate the shadows of anything he inhibits.

It was the dawn of a new summer evening. The crescent moon was rising as the sun whispered its good night over the horizon. Just at the foot of a mountain resided a village within a dense forest. Most of the cabins themselves seemed rather empty for being general stores and service shops as their signs indicated, however, they have been kept in mint condition. No more than an hour after sunset had a small hatch, had been covered by dirt, flew open just outside of the blacksmith's.
A tall, dark and burly man in a grey shirt and jeans stretched his arms out as he took a huge breath in & sighed out loud. "Aaaaww Yeah! The blacksmith's off today, so now I can finally catch everyone up on their training!"
Suddenly, the man was punched in the chin by an over eccentric boy in a basketball jersey, shorts and sneakers, "YEEEEEEEEEEAAAHHH!!!! TRAINING'S GONNA RULE TONIGHT!!!! ...Oh!! Uh...S-sorry Dad..." "Just....get outside, Krowie..." the father mumbled.
"Hurry up!!" a hooded woman from behind them shouted literally kicking them out of the underground stairwell with a boot. More like a boot that she had crafted from her own shadow, big enough for the two. "I still have to make breakfast for the kids!"
"It's okay, Mom!! The boy shouted after he got himself up from the ground, "Krowna and I can find those berries again! You know, In the forest? Those really good ones?? We'll get some while Dad's waiting for everyone else!!"
"Dude, shut up & grab a basket then." a young lady in a black shirt, jeans, and sunglasses laughed as she passed by him.
"I don't need one!" Krowie insisted to his older sister as he crafted a basket in midair from his shadow by the waving of his hands. "See? And I won't have to carry it!!"
"Okay. The basket's all yours then." Krowna shrugged as they parted ways from their parents wandering into the forest. While passing by, thankfully they weren't completely alone at the time as some residents of the village make tree houses in the forest. They were happily greeted by those just awakening, and others who were also foraging for food.
Eventually they made their way back to meet with their mother outside the blacksmith's to hand over the berries, then ran to the field to meet with their dad & co-eds.
"Alright, guys. You're gonna show me what you learned last night."
"YEEEAAAHH!! BRING IT ON!!" Krowie began the rally as he threw a fist through the air, his shadow following in the same manner as he aimed for one of his friends. However, his friend was a little more on his toes as he attempted to counter attack with a shield. Krowie then split his shadow into two fists as he bypassed the shield & sandwiched his partner.
Krowna was some distance away from the class, practicing against her father to build up her skills. "You know Krowna, I'll have to check on the other students soon." "I know Dad.." "Do you think there will ever be a time where..you won't be so afraid of meeting others? What about when you're ready to find a guy?" "Don't know Dad..."
Throughout the rest of the night the trainer took his time with everyone to improve their defenses and heighten their senses.

It was the next evening in Bril'baril. The kids followed on each side of their father as he was busy setting up shop for the day. "Hey dad!" "DAD!!!!!" "Daaaaaaaaaa~d" "We're bored, dad!!" "DAD! Are you gonna train us today, dad?"
Their father's shadow pulled itself from the ground & split in two as it reached up to grab his children, pulling them away from him, "Shut up! Don't you guys have school or something?"
"No." Krowie answered without thinking of a slight consequence for his response.
Their dad sighed, "Krowie, go train with your friends. And Krowna, you have to get ready to meet the Elders, remember?" She gasped, "Oh right!! I almost forgot!! Thank's Dad!!"
He released them both as they went on their way. Krowie into the forest, and Krowna back underground. She skipped down the stairs and ran through the damp dirt halls until she reached a wooden door with her family name engraved in it. When inside the apartment, she quickly threw on a black cotton lycra tunic dress which her mother embroidered with a white crescent moon, and trampled around her room searching for jewelry.
A couple moments later, Krowna was back above ground on her way to the largest cabin in the back of the village known as The Court to meet with the Elders. This would be the first time ever she would get to visit them, let alone meet her grandfather for the first time since the day she was born, bearing in mind that it had been a couple hundred years.
When she arrived at the door of The Court, she adjusted her posture before knocking on the door. She stood outside waiting a good two minutes before she knocked again. She kept her patience until the door was answered by a more mature woman dressed in the same attire, with a color sequence of blue and yellow with a silver tiara. "Oh, you must be Midnight! I'm so glad you were able to join us!" the woman greeted her.
"Who?" was her only reply.
"Oh, I'm sorry Krowna." the woman quickly corrected herself. "Come in, please!!" She continued with getting to know Krowna better as they walked through the hall to a set of polished wood stairs leading to the second floor. Soon, after walking through another hall, they reached a large open room that the woman claimed to be a conference area.
She put her arm in front of Krowna as an order to stop by the door way as she herself continued walk towards a group of other mature adults, some very much older than others as their appearances ranged from mid 40s to well above 80s. They were all seated on pillows at a raised platform in the middle of the room. The woman graciously kneeled in front of them as she introduced herself and Krowna in third person.
"Twilight Dawn would humbly like to request for The Court to officially welcome Midnight to our home." The Elders stood and clapped as Twilight Dawn motioned for Krowna to step forward. She was reluctant to meet with the Elders, but knew she had to as she slowly walked closer to them.
A much older gentleman in dark robes and a flowing white beard walked towards Krowna with his crooked cane which made her stop as he greeted her. He made his way to her & gave her a warm hug "Welcome! I finally get to see how grown my grandbaby is!"
"Huh..? Oh...OOH.. Grandpa!!Oh my gosh! Is it really you!?"
"Come! Sit!" He took her by the hand and seated her next to him. "There's much to discuss."

"Soooo...what's up?" she asked.
"Mind your manners, Johnny!!" the old man shouted waving his cane at her. She raised her arms in defense as he laughed, "Ho-Ho! Just kidding. I might be 9 thooooooooooousand something, but I ain't senile yet! And I don't care about kids or lawns! Ha-ha!"
She chuckled at her silly grandfather as he then cleared his throat to get the business. "You are here today among us to refresh your mind a bit. Do you remember when you were born?"
She raised an eyebrow at his question, "Uh..yeah?" "Good!!" he threw his arms up in the air, "Because I forgot!" "Sir.." Twilight Dawn whispered to him.
"Oh yeah!" He continued, "So anyway, you've heard about the Silver Millennium then I'm sure. We all loved Queen Serenity. And still do!! We have high hopes for her daughter."
"I thought everyone died?" she interrupt
"No, stupid! She was reborn on Earth! With Us! Not really so much of a Princess right now though, but someday... Anywho - Way back when, Queen Serenity was QUEEEEEEN of the Universe, practically. She lived on the moon, and protected the Earth. Most of all, she protected us! and in return, the most we could do was take her as our supreme high leader. We all aspired one day to be part of her kingdom."
"Well...what did she do that was so great?"
"She helped us keep the Demon King away from our people! Only a few Shadowmancer families in the world exist outside this village, so we need to keep this sacred place safe!"
"But doesn't the Demon King only live on that mountain?" she looked outside of the window, a dormant volcano out in the distance with a black storm cloud hovering above.
"Yes! She always helped us keep him at bay. But sadly, when the Moon Kingdom collapsed, so did our security! He attacked in an instant, but we fought long and hard to push him & his army back!! We were grateful that not many of us were killed!"
"That's..good...?" "Very! Coincidentally, you were born only a day after the battle!" "...How is that a coincidence? Isn't that just lucky my mother didn't die?" she asked, not bothering to correct him on her own birth date
"Not really. We had an old story that basically said that when our goddess is no more, another will rise to fight the Demon King!! ...Or something like that. You're no goddess, but we have VERY high hopes in you. YOU will be the strongest among us to help defeat him once and for all, Midnight"
"What?...And you expect me to do this, how?"
Her grandfather shrugged. "I never said you'd do this alone though. We'll be behind you all the way. We just wanted to let you know to be prepared if ever the Demon King were to attack again."
"...Okay. and.. I have another question?" "GET OUTTA MY HOUSE!" He shouted as he pointed towards the door.
"Okay! Geeze.." Krowna got up from her pillow, "You people are weird. I didn't think the Elders were so...crazy."
"Only he is," someone stated from the group, as the rest laughed.
Krowna walked away from the table with Twilight Dawn following behind to escort her out.
"Oh, my god, why did I have to talk to him??" Krowna questioned.
"I wholeheartedly apologize, he's...usually not like this at all."
"Are you sure!?!?? And why is everyone calling me Midnight? I ment to ask him but-"
"Well, when you were born...Krowna Endaiv was a pseudonym given to you by your father."
"Oh....really? ...okay...?"
"Are you upset? I'm sorry." Twilight Dawn lightly touched Krowna's shoulder. "Both names ARE yours.. it's just.. there are those who are gifted that go by such other names, as myself, to hide their identities as shadowmancers. I used to hold a name. But now it makes little difference that I'm here with the Court. So I go by Twilight Dawn."
"So... in the Court, I'm known as Midnight? Well.. I actually like that name better than Krowna to be honest.."
"Be careful using Midnight outside though. You'll never know who you'll run into. Especially if it's a shadow demon belonging to that evil King.." Krowna nodded, then left to court to return home.
As she was walking through the village, she happened to run into her father cleaning up shop for the night, "So, how was the visit?" her asked
"I don't know..." Krowna, now known to herself as Midnight went underground to sleep for the day.

Midnight sighed as she laid in bed, unable to sleep all day as she had an aweful time trying to forget the encounter with the Elders since last week. "I still don't understand why dad had to make me go.. And is Grandpa ALWAYS out of his mind like that?" She rolled onto her back, "I still don't understand..anything.. Do they honestly think I can fight that king!??" "Hah, I seriously doubt they'll help anyway.." she mumbled.
Not a moment after did Krowie throw the door open shouting, "KROWNA!! Mom needs YOU to get the fruit & stuff for breakfast tonight!!" "Aaargh! Me!?" she growled crawling out of bed, "Don't YOU usually come to help?" "Yeah. But Dad needs my help in the shop! Please? I already showed you where to get the good food!" "Yeah yeah.." she waved him away, and started to get ready after he left.
Around a couple minutes later, she emerged from the ground immediately heading for the forest, not bothering to greet her family or friends as her mind was full on other matters. After some distance away from the village, she came to the grove where she noticed some others had already gathered their food for the day. She crafted a basket from her shadow as she meandered between the trees and bushes grabbing anything that looked good.
Midnight's time in the forest came to be a calming experience as the worries left her mind with every rustle of the leaves from the wind. When she was satisfied with the collection, she started her way back home. However, before she was able to exit the grove, the wind began to pick up from behind her as she clutched onto the basket careful not to lose anything. It came to be so strong it nearly knocked her over! In only a few seconds, the winds returned to normal as Midnight regained herself. She looked in the direction the wind had came from. "Oookay..I don't remember anything about a storm today."
She looked up to the sky next, trying to see past the trees for the condition of the night sky. She took a good minute watching the clouds, noticing nothing with them had changed. "That's weird.." She kept her glance upward, squinting as she noticed a falling star. She gasped at it's beauty since it was the first time she'd seen one. "Oooh!! I get to make a wish! Yay!!" she cheered. She placed the basket on the ground, then clapped her hands together and closed her eyes as she spoke aloud, "Okay! So, I wish that my brother would stop going in my room all the time for one, and that I don't have to fight the stupid King! Why can't he just die & go away. I wish something would make him leave forever."
She let out a sigh as she opened her eyes. To her surprise the star was still visible. She smiled for a brief moment before it turned into a look of concern. After some time, she was able to make out that the star seemed to be getting closer, and looked more like a small object glimmering in the moonlight. "Woah!" She ducked off to the side as the object just barely missed her head and landed on the ground.
She glance off in the direction where the object hit, then slowly walked up to it. "I wonder what that is..." she thought. Not wanting to touch it herself, she gathered it up with her shadow & held it in front of her. She examined it, thinking to herself about what it was & why it fell in the forest. It was a rather large jewel in the shape of a crescent moon made entirely of a shimmering gemstone, with the exception of a silver latch in the back for use as a fashion pin. "Weird.. but pretty, I guess. Kinda looks like my mom's pin." She tossed the pin in the basket as she gathered herself again to head home.

Gift or Curse Part 2 It had been so far that she traveled halfway through the forest heading back home. She couldn't seem to keep her eyes from watching the dirt path as she had been staring at the jewel, that she now felt comfortable carrying in her hand, thinking. "My mom has a pin that looks like this..but it's an entirely different jewel. Ugh, but I know her.. the minute I show up, she'll be like, 'Put that back where you found it! Someone's probably looking for it!'" She scoffed out loud, then looked up to the road, only to notice it was gone.
"Where...Aah--" as she began to curse at herself, "I can't believe it!!" She looked around at the unfamiliar trees, trying to estimate how far away she walked off the path. She turned around & quickly headed back in the direction she thought she might have came from. After a time of running, she came to a large clearing. She looked around in the high grass surrounded by the rest of the woods. "I don't remember this place.." she spoke to herself, trying to keep herself away from a fit of panic. She then solidified her shadow in the form of a machete to chop away at some of the grass.
"How..unfitting for someone like you to be roaming alone.." A deep voice commented at Midnight's situation. She immediately froze, glancing around infront of her for someone. Then she turned around only to find that not a single person or soul was present. She tried to look through the grass & up at the trees as she questioned, "Okay...Then maybe you could help me back to the village?"
"Sorry..but my master couldn't allow that." it replied as a dark shadowy figure with gleaming red eyes appeared behind Midnight. She turned around still trying to find someone as she was taking aback by its sudden appearance. Before she could let out a scream or try to get away, its hand grabbed at her neck, then raised her several feet from the ground. In the process, Midnight had dropped her basket but clutched tightly onto her new found crescent object.
In a manic fit of struggling to get away, she cursed a number of words in her language as it tightened its grip gradually taking her breath away. "This can't be happening.. I don't want to die yet!" she thought, feeling completely lost on how to save herself. "T..this..can't happen..it's..an illusion.." "Hah! Well this is one illusion you'll never see through!" It shouted as it then threw Midnight, her back slamming hard against a giant tree. She fell to the ground, then tried to get up to her feet, struggling the entire time as the demon stared her down. "You're pathetic. It would be a waste to kill you." "I don't care!" she screamed pointing at it. "You're...you're just a figment of my imagination!" "It seems you're insane also. Still a waste of my time, but why go against what my master wants." As it prepared another attack on her, she gathered her energy to attempt to create a shield from her shadow, still shaken up about the whole ordeal. "I-I still don't believe what's going on.. it's gotta be some kind of whacked out delusion.. a severely deep rooted delusion!"
At that point, the demon had begun its charge at her to attack. Within a moment just as the demon was only several feet away from a critical blow to her skull, the crescent moon jewel Midnight had been holding onto the entire time began to feel warm, hot even, in her hands. She opened up her hand only to be greeted by a blinding flash of white light. It not only caught her completely off guard, but the demon as well as it retreated away from her to a safe distance. The light eventually dimmed to a deep purple color as it then encased Midnight. In a matter of minutes as it seemed, the light faded entirely as all that was left was a dark fog rolling away from Midnight, only seen with her arm covering her face.
She slowly uncovered her face, only to notice her arms were now covered with black gloves. She looked down, also seeing her clothes had changed into a skirt! An ugly purple one at that. She also realized the jewel had somehow left her hand and appeared as an ornament in the middle of a black decorative bow on her chest. "Aah!! What's with this skirt?? It's so...SHORT!! AND UGLY!!!" she screamed.
The demon couldn't do more than stare in awe at this point. "Alright, so you can change clothes too?? What's with you, woman?" "WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE??" she screamed, apparent now that she was mildly angry as well as confused to no end. "GO SOMEWH--!!" she pointed another finger at it hoping it would be intimidated this time and leave. Instead she ended up firing a mini purple sphere of energy, which stopped her in mid sentence for one, but also made a hit on the demon! It keeled over as it was stung by the energy, Midnight still nowhere near back to sanity as all the events still kept piling in her mind with no way of making sense of it all. "WHOA!! What the sh-- WOW!!" The shadow demon was getting itself back up as she screamed again, shooting another small energy ball at it as she pointed at it again. From that point, she kept screaming and taking it down with energy balls until the demon appeared to be dead. She then kicked at it once to make sure.
She was shivering, highly unsure of what to do next. She then heard a faint rustling in the bushes. She turned to the sound, "Oh no..I can't take on another one.. I can't....I won't...I.." Finally she was overwhelmed enough to the point where she fell unconscious, collapsing on to the forest ground.

King Iltar's General A hooded stranger standing several feet high carrying a scythe at least twice the size upon its shoulder walked nonchalantly down a dark stone corridor. It had been lit however with torches evenly placed. The atmosphere was damp and cool, and it reeked of fresh blood. The figure approached a door as two winged humanoids welding spears stood at either side. They threw the spears across the door as the stranger stopped. "King Iltar has not called for you. Leave at once."
The stranger only grinned under his hood, bearing fangs, as it then spoke in a low male tone of voice. "I know. But I think he'll appreciate this news I have very much."
The guards glanced at each other, then back at him with raised eyebrows.
"It's regarding...the one." he spoke silently to them.
They gave him another hesitant look as they slowly backed away from the door and opened it for him. They lead him into the room, approaching a high throne atop a set of jagged stairs formed in a pyramid down from the throne. The guards knelt on the floor as they announced the stranger's arrival. "Y-y-your majesty, The General has returned with news from the Bril'Baril Forest."
"I KNOW!" A loud voice boomed, shaking the entire room. The guards and the king's servants scattered about the room struggled to gain their balance. The only one who seemed unfazed by the King's greeting was the general.
From atop the throne, King Iltar, an even more monstrously large being stood from it. He was also shrouded in a robe & hood with only his burning red eyes of terror and sheer hate were visible from the shadow of his face. He then ordered his general to spill the details. "TELL ME! I saw you sent out one of your followers into the forest last night.. WHAT HAVE YOU FOUND ABOUT THE ONE?"
"My King, it is just as you predicted. The one IS from the village, and.." the general trailed off.
"AND WHAT? I KNOW THAT THEY ALREADY GOT THEIR HANDS ON THAT DAMNED GEMSTONE"
The General nodded, "Yes..but the fortunate thing is she does not yet know how to weld its power correctly."
The King fell silent for a moment as the servants waited anxiously for his next comment. "SHE? YOU MEAN THAT PUNY 'HERO' TRYING TO DESTROY US ALL IS A DAMN FEMALE? YOU MUST BE JOKING!"
"Ah, but I'm sorry My Lord. No joke here."
King Iltar paced back and forth infront of his throne, not speaking a single word to his General at the moment. Then, the General spoke again, "My King, I suggest we organize an attack on the whole village at once. Not only to kill the One, but it would be best to destory them all to lessen the chance of another rising up!"
Iltar now had sat back on his throne, "Fine. Go on with the ambush. Use all in the army you need. You best make sure you do NOT fail me. Kill them all, and bring back the head of that heroine who thinks she can stop me.."
The General bowed. "Don't worry my liege, I'll make sure this battle will be carried in our favor."
The King fell silent once again before he remarked, "You seem to hold very sanguine expectations, General. I'm counting on you.."
After bowing his head, the General left the throne room in hast to organize their attack onto the village.
--
The sun was soon reaching it's highest point in the sky as it grew ever more humid. Noone had stirred within Bril'Baril village below the mountains as most of the inhabitants went underground for their slumber. The forest had also been remotely quiet throughout the day with the occasional chirping of the birds, and the trickle of the creek that flowed. All seemed to have been a normal morning in this area, with the exception of one Bril'baril family in particular whom had ventured out beyond the grounds and into the forest.
"KROWNAAAA!" Krowie's voice echoed through the forest. "No, son. You gotta make sure she hears you." his father remarked before taking a deep breath. "KROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!" his voice bellowed as all the birds fluttered off from the treetops.
Krowie laughed at the birds, "Way to go, Dad!"
"Puste! Krowie! Stop shouting!" The mother ordered. "You'll attract unwanted attention. If she heard you by NOW I'm sure she would have responded!"
"Trollow, it's been an entire night. We don't know how far she could have wandered! or worse.."
"Don't THINK that way!" she ordered as she punched her husband in the arm. "We'll find her, but please try not to be so loud. IF something bad happened, there still might be demons lurking in the forest." They continued to scan of what they knew of the entire forest for any sign of their daughter.

In the far distance of where the family had been searching, laid Midnight in the same grassy meadow she passed out in the night before. She slowly awoke to the sound of birds calling as they flew overhead. Moaning in pain, she took her time getting up to her knees. "Ow..what the heck..?" She tried to look at her surroundings, but the sun was nearly blinding her as she shielded her eyes with her arm. "Ugh.. the sun....THE SUN!??" She struggled to get up to her feet quickly. "What time is it!?" She began to make her way out of the grass when she stepped on something. She lifted her foot to find that it was the pin she came across last night. "What..?" Midnight bend down to pick it up. "No way!! Wasn't that just a dream??" She stared at it reminiscing on the encounter with the shadow demon and how she was able to defeat it. "I don't know what's going on, but I'm gonna get some answers.." She clutched tightly onto it as she headed back through the forest.
After about an hour of wandering, she heard people yelling and talking in the distance. At one point she even heard familiar voices call out her name. "DAD?? KROWIE!!" She ran into the direction where she believed the shouting was coming from. "DAD!!" She waved to him as she saw her family walking the trail. "Krowna?" they all stopped in their tracks, surprised to see her. They had a touching family reunion filled with hugs & kisses as if they were never going to see each other again. "Krowna!! I'm so glad you're okay!" her mother began. "Where were you?? What were you doing??"
"Oh my god, guys.." she tried to silence them, "You wouldn't believe what happened! Seriously!"
"Well, tell us." her father requested.
"Okay, so when Krowie told me to go get the food? I did! But then, this falling star thing fell from the sky as I was coming home! After that, one of those shadow demons came from nowhere!! I killed it!!.. I think."
Her brother laughed, "You KILLED it?? Yeah right!! YOU??"
"Krowie, your sister's stronger than you want to believe." the father interjected, "But he's right, Krowna. how did you KILL it, and what does the shooting star have to do with the demons anyway?"
"Oh, nevermind, you guys!" she threw her arms down "I'm still trying to get over it. I'll tell you all in detail later. I just wanna go home.." Respecting her wishes as they could tell she was frustrated, they didn't ask anymore questions as they all headed back to the village to rest.
Midnight had woken up early before sunset. She was still worried about what her family thought of her half assed story and whether they believed her. She figured instead of trying to talk to them, it would be better to gain information from the Elders. She quietly wandered the home as she got dressed in her casual jeans. Before she was able to head out the door, she was stopped by her mother who called out her name softly.
She turned back around, "Mom..?"
"Krowna..what's wrong, sweetie?"
"Nothing's wrong, mom.. I was just going to The Court."
Her mother shook her head. "They weren't very helpful to you the first time.. Come here." she held her arms out to her as Midnight walked away from the door to embrace her.
Her mother sighed softly, "The falling star you told us about...can you show me?"
She looked up to her mother puzzled, but complied as she pulled the crescent moon pin from her pocket. Her mother took it from her hand to examine it. "So it's true.. you did kill that demon."
"Did you believe I was lying!?"
"No, listen to me. This here is proof that Queen Serenity's promise finally came forth."
"What? The thing crazy grandpa was trying to tell me about..?"
Her mother nodded ignoring the comment of her own father, "She promised us one day, when she were to depart from this world, that she would personally bring us a protector. One who'll stand as our strongest yet, surpassing any typical art of shadowmancy. Have you heard of the Sailor Soldiers?"
Midnight shook her head.
"They are fierce and powerful groups of people. Sailor Soldiers and Knights. Numerous exist within the whole universe. Some are protectors of stars, planets, entire galaxies.. Some even represent the very elements themselves such as fire and water...and even the heavens."
Her mother paused allowing the information to absorb into Midnight's mind.
"Most soldiers use special crystals or stones mounted into jewelry, pens, and other objects. This one here is a moonstone hairpin, but.." Her mother fiddled around with it for a moment until she was able to pry it open. To her surprise, she found it empty without a crystal. "Oh, Krowna.. where's your crystal?"
"What crystal? Okay wait, mom.. so you actually think that I'M a Sailor Soldier!?"
"Well, yes... How else were you able to defeat that shadow demon? Nobody has been able to completely kill one off as you said you had...oh well. Some Soldiers carry their crystals within their bodies.."
Midnight shrugged.
"Anyway..to get back on track.." her mother started, "Queen Serenity said that our Solider would arrive within the dead of midnight. .when the moon was at it's highest point in the sky, clear as the sun." she then smiled to Krowna. "I've had my own encounter with a falling star.. It was several hundred years after the fall of the Silver Millennium. Your father was busy with his training class and I had to gather food for lunch. I ended up lost in the forest just as you had on my way home. Instead of facing anything dangerous though, I just looked up to the stars to help me back. I saw one star was moving, so I made a wish ...two in fact." she chuckled. "Not only did I wish for eternal peace for us, but I had always wanted a child.." she closed her eyes as she reminisced on that night. "It was...an unusually bright star. And when it came closer, I almost ran away from it it was so strange! But..as it started falling slower & slower, I noticed it was...a very odd, glowing crystal. And, to my surprise then, It made me feel really calm and happy... I tried to catch it, but before it fell into my hands, it disappeared! Needless the say I told The Elders about it the next night. They told me it was the star seed of our protector. I still don't understand what a star seed is.. but truth be told, you were born not too long after than day. The Elders even crowned you the name Midnight because you were born the same time of night that crystal arrived before.... Sailor Midnight.." she said softly to herself. "So that's where babies come from." Midnight laughed as did her mother. "But, 'Sailor' Midnight? Are you serious? I don't think I can do it, mom. It's still hard to believe any of this you're telling me. Except that..well..yeah, I guess my name is Midnight.."
"Krowna, it'll take many years to become a full fledged Sailor Soldier. But the Elders will help you. I'm sure they already have sensed this awakening. You have nothing to worry about."
Midnight sighed, "Okay, I guess.."
Her mother reassured her with a hug, before weaving the pin through Midnight's hair then stated that they would need to get breakfast ready. They both left the home & searched the forest for their food, continuing with the conversation among other topics.

The Epic Phail
Several weeks had passed by uneventfully. The village had lived on normally with no other enemy encounters from the King's army. Midnight had meant to make frequent visits to the Elders, but had hung ups with her family obligations. The one time she was able to make a trip, she was to confirm her story with them & show she was able to change herself into a Sailor Soldier. Soon after, when word quickly spread throughout Bril'baril that their protector had arrived, Midnight's parents had been recipients of many gifts ranging from simple pieces of cloth, to rare & exotic items people have collected. Many of which had been respectfully declined. Midnight on the other hand fell more victim to her panic attacks. Being unable to cope with so many people and so much attention, she spend most of her time hiding in her room, only rising above ground during the day for an hour when few others would also be awake. Even then, she felt as though she needed to hide. Her mother had been very supportive and even offered to create a series of herbal medicines to help calm her.
During a more quiet night, Midnight had been wandering through the forest on her own, clutching tightly onto the medicine pouch her mother sewn together. The sun was about to rise as everyone back home began to pack in. She emerged from the forest to help her family only to notice that the mountain in the distance looked a lot..darker than usual.
She walked up to her mother, "Mom..? Doesn't..Iltar's mountain look..different today?" Her question grabbed the attention of her family & other people who were standing nearby. Soon, everyone was gossiping with turned heads as they watched. The dark subtle cloud hovering over the peak was much larger and rapidly swirling as lightning struck the mountain. Soon, other people started pointing out hordes of demons who seemed to be falling from the side of the mountain heading right for them. "IT'S AN ATTACK!!" "EVERYONE RUN!!" "WOMEN AND CHILDREN FIRST!!"
The village soon burst into panicked screams as Puste's voice boomed over the crowd with orders to gather the men & women fighters into a line of defense. "DAD!! There's too many!!! We gotta leave!!" shouted Krowie. "NO!! Help everyone get to safety!! We got it covered!!"
Midnight during this time has stayed with her mother. "Krowna, you HAVE to help your father! Be Sailor Midnight!" "Mom!! I can't!!" "You have to! Say what you said before! All soldiers have a transformation phrase!" "M..m..mm.." "SAY IT!!" "METRRILLION KANTHOZ!!" she screamed as the surge of energy almost knocked her mother over as she transformed again to Sailor Midnight. She wasn't into being the one the whole village depended on, but she knew she had to do what she could to help them. She took the front line reluctantly with her father as they waited for the army to be close enough.
"Sailor Midnight.." her father asked, "I'm sure you know what to do.." he said, trying to instill courage into her. All it did was make her knees shake, worrying her more as she DIDN'T know what she was doing.
Soon enough, it had begun. Within the blink of an eye did blood and bodies decorate the grounds as the demons attacked with their scythes, spears and swords. Many were held back as the shadowmancers unleashed their attacks. Sailor Midnight was still lost as more were slaughtered. She was was trying to avoid death herself, yet was still able to take out some of the army with the same energy globes she used previously, gaining more control over their force with each assault. She also cast her shadow into a defensive shield to block on coming weapons from time to time.
The rest of the village had been in retreat mode as some went underground to hide, while the rest scattered among the forests. The Elders themselves had even left The Court for their lives. Some of the army had followed the villagers, killing them as they fled while others where captured and taken back to Itlar's castle. Within the masses that flew overhead, Midnight and her father noticed that the beasts had captured their loved ones. Midnight ran off, calling out to her mom & brother as she tried to retrieve them on her own. She was able to release her brother who ran off soon after, but was unable to save her mother as it carried her farther from Midnight. In time, others would soon follow carrying off her father along with several other villagers who had been beaten to near death. Midnight was left on her knees as the village was full of dead & injured. At the sight of her home nearly obliterated she broke down into tears, having been unable to help defend them. "WWWHHHYYY????" her voice seemed to echo the whole planet. "WHY DID I HAVE TO FAIL?? NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!"
The villagers who were left watched as their supposed savor broke down so easily. They were losing hope. As they were tending to each other, they soon scurried off as a tall cloaked figure approached Midnight.
"You put up a good fight.. sorry it wasn't good enough." it spoke.

Our Agreement Midnight was still sobbing with her head to the ground as the figure spoke again. "You're not much of a hero, are you?"
"I DON'T CARE ANYMORE!!!!!" she unleashed a sudden energy sphere at it, not caring if she was attacking a friend or foe. "Oof!" The figure slid back several feet as it used its scythe to keep from falling over, the hood from his robes knocked away from his head. "Wow..you pack quite a punch when you're angry.." Now revealed to be the General with pale skin & a humanoid male figure, he glared up to her with his piercing gold eyes. Midnight by now had managed to get up to her feet, her back still turned to him. The General charged up to her, his scythe prepared for a clean slice. As he lunged at her, he was suddenly stopped by a dark sword that blocked his scythe only a few inches away from her neck.
"I told you...I DON'T CARE!!" she chucked another, larger sphere at him that she had been brewing since she stood up. This one he attempted to dodge, but it still threw him back the same as the last. Midnight turned around, grabbing the sword from the air that she had created with her shadow. He could see the anger to kill him in her eyes. Her whole being changed as they exchanged one last look. Another body would fall today.. and each were determined it wouldn't be them.
Hours had gone by. The dead air being moved by whirling weapons as they would occasionally collide, their sound echoing through the trees. The General at one point even trapped Midnight and almost tore away her transformation. Only to be stopped by her shadow which she used as a hand to pull him away. Other times, it was difficult to defend herself with a sword in hand, and had nearly fallen to the many slashes of the scythe. In due time, both were kneeling on the ground out of breath & gravely injured. Midnight struggled to breath as she hacked up blood onto the ground. "You're.. not dead yet?" the General asked, wiping blood away from his own mouth. "SHUT UP!!" she yelled, cringing in pain afterwards as she coughed again.
The general, with the help of his scythe, was able to get back onto his feet and slowly made his way over to Midnight. "You know.. my lord.. told me to kill you" he struggled to speak. "Heh..right.. " she replied. "I am... but it would be a shame to kill someone with great potential..why not join us to eventually rule the world... and see your family again." She shook her head. "Fine..I'll assume that's a no.." he started to limp away. "You're not worth killing anyway.."
"Wait a minute!" she insisted, using her shadow to encase him in a box. She crawled over to him as she spoke. "A minute ago, you wanted to kill me, but you're just as bad as I am, so you couldn't! So you're giving up, huh? I won't let you leave so easily.." He turned back to face her, letting her continue.
"You're..gonna help me get them back...you're gonna help me fix this...I know, you know..what the King has done with them.."
"I might.." he stated. "But.." he paused, thinking for a moment. "I'll only help you if you help me." "NO!!" she shouted at him, causing her to keel over in pain again.
"Look.." he started, "I won't be able to kill you for the moment.. maybe not ever, but this will be easy." Midnight panted, trying to catch her breath again as she listened.
"The King's not going to be happy once he finds out you're still alive and my head will be on the line.."
"So?"
"I'm the only lead you have.. help me stay hidden from King Iltar, and I can help you get your family back with him not ever knowing."
"Yeah right.. there's no way I can trust you on that.."
He stayed silent as Midnight watched him. He wasn't struggling to release himself from her trap, nor was he doing much else for that matter. It soon reached the point of a staring contest until he started talking again. "Well?"
"Well, what!? I'm not gonna help you."
"Then I can't help you."
She growled, punching her fist against the ground. "You know what..fine. If and when I die because of you, you'll be hearing about it from my ghost for the rest of your existence!"
For a moment, he actually juggled on the thought on whose wrath would be worse. His own master, or this woman.
In time, Midnight released her hold she had against him and he was free to roam. But, he didn't. Instead he pointed over to the mountain King Iltar's castle sat. "Take a look up there."
Midnight turned her head after she was able to stand up on her own. "Huh..? Those clouds! The dark clouds! They're gone!"
"Which means Iltar fled. Seeing as how I didn't return with your head, he probably worried that you were stronger than we all thought." He turned to her, "But you're not."
"Shut up! I will be once we find out where he went!"
The General's weapon suddenly disappeared as he also faded away into almost nothing. What came in his replacement was a shadowy purple cloud, hovering where he once stood, still attaining the gold eyes the general had. "In this form, I can live within your shadow. While I'm there, I could have total control of it if I wanted to. However, that also means I can help aim your attacks better."
"Okay." Midnight hadn't mind the sound of that.
"If needed, we could also share our thoughts. On our own will of course.. I don't want to know EVERYTHING in your mind..."
"Yeah? Well, I don't want to know everything YOUR mind! Or do I.."
"No...you don't. We better get going. We're not gonna get anywhere the longer we stay here." He then melded himself in her shadow.
"Hey..?" she asked, looking at the ground, "What do I call you if I need you for something?"
His eyes peered out from her shadow "I don't know..A lot of people don't care to remember my real name.. just call me..Sanguine."
Midnight frowned up her face, "Sanguine? What kind of name is.."
"Look, shut up whatever your name is."
"Oh! Well, excuuuuse me. Might as well call me Midnight, then."
"HAH! And you thought my name was weird.."
Without wasting more time, Midnight looked around her village, mostly everyone had either died, went into hiding or had been captured. Tears came to her eyes once more, horrified that she wasn't able to help them. Before her tears fell, she heard a familiar voice that brought on a smile.
"KROOOWNAAAAAAAAAA!!!" her brother tackled her from behind grabbing her in a hug.
"Krowie!!"
"Krowna, I saw what happened!!! Our parents!! I'm sorry I ran away!! I'm sorry!!"
"Krowie..don't worry.. We'll get them back.. I can promise you.. but I need you to do something very important for me, please.. Make sure everyone here that's left gets the proper treatment. Mom still has a lot of medicine in her cabinets underground. Use them to heal everyone & see...what you can do with helping them rebulid.."
Her brother nodded, and they exchanged another hug. "I'll be gone for a while, but you must stay here & look out for everyone.."
Midnight changed back to her normal clothing and placed the pin back in her hair. She cleaned herself up in the creek before she packed what was left of her belongs she & Sanguine left the village. Would they ever return? Would they bring back her parents..?

Traveling Into Present Day Since the day Midnight left her village with Sanguine, her brother had done exactly as she asked & made sure the villagers stuck together as they rebuild. While she was away, he also reassured hope into them that she would return a stronger person and would make everything right again. Midnight and Sanguine had intended on literally traveling the globe until they found King Iltar, for not even Sanguine knew where the King would have gone. From the forest they hailed from, so far they've traveled through all states of North America where Midnight learned a great deal of English, although she somehow managed to hold onto her native accent. Very briefly did they visit South America, and even ran into another Sailor Scout. They teamed up for that short amount of time, as demons of another variety were attacking her people. Midnight soon left after that ordeal as they trotted through several countries in Europe, then finding their way through Asia. Eventually, they would take a boat from a Russian port to southern Japan. As they slowly made their way north, they came across more than they bargained for. Japan was teaming with all sorts of monsters or "Youma" as the natives had called them. Midnight would soon end up in the Juuban District of Tokyo as Sanguine suggested they stay for a while. With all the activity going on, they might have a higher chance of picking up a clue, if not finding Iltar himself. Currently, they still live within the city constantly migrating between hotels, trees, and even alleyways - where ever they can find to sleep. Midnight gains what little money she can through singing at karaoke contests, or muddling through temporary jobs. They usually eat at sushi restaurants or buy bento meals, not wasting a drop of food. Most of the time, Sanguine will eat much more than she will. Their stay in Japan has lead them to gaining many new friends, and MANY more Sailor Soldiers than she could ever encounter at once. It was almost like a secret society of them only lived in this city. They were very welcoming as they offered to teach her their ways and how to grow stronger. To this day, Midnight still dreams of gaining the levels of a Super and Eternal 'Senshi'. Everything (and everyone, really) was very curious to her at first as many of them not only looked VERY similar to each other, but she learned how soldiers from different planets, universes, planes of existence, and even within different points of TIME ITSELF can co-exist under one roof. Still, she has trouble adjusting, although having grown more accepting of it as she meets more & more friendly people. Still unsure of her own power and her place within the society, she still tries to help them destroy youma when she can. Sadly, she often feels as though she's in their way not having mastered her own skill yet. To her dismay, many have offered to help which lead her to learn healing, and even harnessing the power of the wind element to her abilities. Still, she's all for trial and error and someday hopes to be as strong as they are.
