(Copied from my SA blog)
With the majority of new consoles supporting decent online communities (No, not you Wii) Ive noticed something about people.
I like to replay through old games, now, I'm not talking retro, I'm talking, launch titles, year old titles. Games that where once hyped up to be the next best thing now left to gather dust. But, a lot of people on my friends list have been asking me why im playing certain games, the reason they wanted to know was because they think its "Old"
I was playing Kane and Lynch earlier and someone asked me why i wasn't playing Cod4. I said because i was playing a different game (You dumbass) And he replied "But its old" (Ironic seeing as Call of duty 4 is a year old now, but then again, has got game of the year so many times and people still play it avidly so, whatever) It just made me wonder why people shouldn't be able to play a game without being questioned like a drug dealer as to why your doing it.
For some people, they cant live without having the "Latest games" And cant understand why people play games that were a few release dates ago. I just don't get it. Seeing what people are playing are a good way to know what they're taste in games is, but when that taste is damed "Crap" because im not playing a game i didnt have to rush out and camp in front of a shop for just to be the first ones on it, the point is lost.
And i got people saying i play weird games (The game i was in fact playing at the time, was Mega Man 9) And it just made me laugh.
But, people can be easily offended by comments made about your "Gamer habits" So, Are you one of these people who refuses to replay an old game because you might be called weird? Or that thinks that playing a downloaded game off the store or marketplace is "Sad"? Do you think that people are scared of being ridiculed of they're taste in games because its freely broadcast when your online, so they insist on playing the games everyone else is so they don't feel like an outcast?
(Now i know for single player you could just go off-line on the network, but if you want to play multiplayer, you HAVE to be signed in, therefore your game is broadcast to whoever else is on your list)

Hell, I still play the Sega Mega Drive games i've had for fourteen years. It's stupid to dismiss a game just because it's old, especially when you consider the quality of them. If you were new to gaming and had that attitude, you'd be missing out on some true classics, such as Metal Gear Solid, Soul Blade and the Final Fantasy seres to name but a few. (My fave FF is still 8, and that's years old).
