The difference in territory was certainly obvious. The wind did not blow quite as hard. It wasn't anywhere near as cold. The earth here was soft. It all seemed so much more forgiving than the northern reaches. Even the birds sang cheerily to the evening sky.
The beauty of it all was not lost on the winged helix, although his hardened expression remained just that, stone solid.
This particular creature had seen the harsh reality of the north and had felt it's biting chill cut deep beneath his black and indigo pelt. This place was completely different and he felt a heavy weight lifted from his shoulders. He felt he could relax here, at least somewhat.
The scrawny, malnourished adolescent trudged tiredly beneath the shade the trees offered. He wanted to hunt and fill his pinched stomach, but rest seemed the most immediate thing, especially after such a long trek from the north.

This had been her home sense the incident with her parents, her and her brothers had to live some where easier. Laid back. More serene. It had only been a day sense their arrival in the neutral territory. Eros had found them a decent sized den, abandoned. She lived there with Eris and Eros from now on, sleeping at night and hunting during the day. Eden's legs had found her wandering to the stream in a clearing, her throat dry and craving refreshment. She knelt down and lapped at the running waters surface, her eyes ever shifting and wary.

The scents were all new and there was the smell of others, only it seemed faint to his keen nose. There must of been plenty of packs here, evident by the lush forestry and seemingly abundant prey. Perhaps he could find himself a place...
A place, a rank, and an alpha to serve. That would be better than winging it on his own. He was still young and the hardship of the north made him seem almost stunted, though he would fill out in seasons to come.
The sound of running water reached him and he moved towards it instinctively. He didn't consider that there might be others around it. All he worried about was quenching his powerful thirst and resting his paws. As he came to the water's edge, he dipped his head and lapped up the cool water. As he drank he noticed a figure slightly further down the bank.

Eden felt safe enough to relax, but occasionally her eyes would flicker open at the sound of movement. She had laid down on her belly, paws crossed when she suddenly smelt another helix. Her eyes shot open and landed immediately on the purple and black hunk. Her first thought was to bound to her feet and growl but she only laid there, staring at him innocently. Irritated at herself, she mumbled unintelligible things under her breath, looking away from the gorgeous male, then back at him.

Ravenfall lifted his maw slightly from the shifting waters, disrupted only by the droplets of water that rolled from his fur. His gaze did not stray from the red and gray female as he did so...
His instincts were to flee, as that had always been the safest route in his former territory. Flee first, ask questions later, and your chances of seeing another day sharply increased.
His frame tensed as he prepared to retreat, but another thought entered his mind. This was not the north and plus, how would he find a pack if he ran from every wolf he came across? Now was a fine time to see just what this territory was like, even if it meant an unpleasant meeting. Chances were it wouldn't be all that bad.
He relaxed slightly as he lifted his head from the water, then hesitantly picked his way towards the female.

Eden saw the male easing in her direction and she lifted her head up, ears perked in curiosity. She saw nothing threatening in his stance or his expression. Maybe he was polite? She'd find out in a second and all she needed to do was just howl and Eros and Eris would be here at her side in no time. The male was just a few yards away now, and his distinct pattern was more visible. Very, very exquisite markings. Especially the wings on his sides. He smelt different though. Not from here and certainly not from the western territory. Huh.

He stopped several feet from Eden in an attempt to maintain a polite distance, Besides, if it turned out that he was not welcome here it would be easier to put some space between himself and this female.
He strove to seem friendly and far from the hesitant wolf he truly was at this point. She was larger than he and there was the added fact that there were probably packmates around here somewhere... His silvery gaze lingered for a moment, studying her posture and her markings. She didn't appear threatening, which made his speaking that much easier.
"Greetings, miss. Ravenfall of the North, seeking refuge." His introduction was brief and to the point, as he felt no need in dragging these things out. Formality was best known to him.

Eden smiled politely and flicked her tail aimlessly. "I'm Eden of the western.. Refuge?" She cocked her head a little as she didn't see anything to take cover under. "Refuge from..?" She asked obliviously. Great. Now she probably sounded like a dumb teenager. She tilted her ears back a little, apologies for not understanding.

He tilted his head slightly and had an almost quizzical expression...
But quickly discarded the feeling and offered her the closest thing to a smile that he felt he could muster up at the moment. He sat back on his haunches and curled his tail about his side.
"The territory in the north is harsh, especially the winters. I am seeking warmer climates in which to live in peace. Food is hard to find, as well as shelter and family."

"Ah.. sorry. I didn't understand what you mean at first.. Here there is plenty of food and usually nothing to take cover from.." at that moment, she looked to the sky that seemed to be clouding with dark puffs that would bring rain. "Well.. except for right now." she smirked at the bad timing of the weather and back down at the Raven fellow. "Its nice to meat you Ravenfall... Mind if I call you Rave?" She asked, liking short names over the long formal ones.

"Rave?"
The chopping of his name was certainly a strange concept to him, as he had always been addressed by it in it's fullness. The quizzical expression returned and he found her slightly amusing.
"I suppose Rave is fine, I don't mind. What might I call you, if I may ask?" He turned his own gaze from her to the darkening sky. He could detect a faint rumbling in the distance and it seemed that it wouldn't be too much longer before rain would follow.

She stood to her feet and stretched out, arching her tail as a yawn escaped her muzzle. "Eden is fine. Just don't call me Ed or something.." she said grimacing at her late father's nickname for her sense she was his only girl out of a litter of boys. To stood straight and smiled again at the male. "Do you like rain or would you rather find some cover before it hits..?" She asked out of politeness. She preferred rain. In the west, there was hardly rain but when there was, it was amazing.

"Ed, huh? Don't worry, Eden it is." He gave her a light grin and followed suit, returning to all four paws.
"If I were still further north I would opt for shelter... But I would like to experience rain for what it is, not the frozen stuff. Not the snow." The entire phenomenon smelled and felt completely different from the dreary, frozen life he led in the far reaches of the north... And it was a welcome change at that.

Eden grinned wide in return to him. "Great. So your from the North huh?" She turned and paused to see if he would follow her pointless walk next to the river, deeper into where the rain would fall. She flicked her tail left and right, remembering stories of the North her mom had told her. It was harsh and unforgiving. Freezing and deadly. Somewhere Eden would never go by choice.

"Yup. Not by choice, obviously." He could feel himself letting his guard down in the presence of this fellow adolescent and while that feeling had a wrongness to it, he had to admit he liked being around a seemingly kinder wolf. Instinct could shove off, at least for a little while.
He followed her pointless walk towards the rumbling clouds and felt an eagerness that he had not known since he was a small, exploring pup.
