Hey guys. ^^ So, here's the deal...
We hold A LOT of free events here at ElderSpark.... But I realize that there are times where people are plain unlucky, times when it feels like ya just can't seem to get a break....
And even if you're not one of these perpetually unlucky individuals, I know that there's just something about a custom pet that's VERY appealing. Now, everyone knows that customs are rarely free or cheap, and that's just the way of things. I'm sure we can all agree that the artists deserve their compensation? :3
The thing is, not everyone has 500k+ sitting around in their pockets collecting dust bunnies. (Though admittedly it seems like it's much easier to make gold on gaia these days if you're willing to shell out real $$ xD; ) Anyway, this is where I come in. n_n
Now... I'm not some kind of uber rich old fart with 100 million gold falling out of my ears (HAHAHA.. hardly)... But I do have enough that I'm willing to share my good fortune with people who would love to try for a custom but just don't have the funds.
And that my friends, is the purpose of Paper's "Too broke for Customs?" Charity Thread. ^^ Please read the next post for more in depth explanations on what I plan to do, and how you can benefit from this thread.

(Note to shop artists: Any payments coming from my charity project will not be subject to the usual 15/20% that I take from customs. So this is good for you too! ^o^)
RULES.
You didn't think I was just gonna randomly start sending out trades willy nilly did you? xD;; This is money out of my pocket, so you're just going to have to put up with my crap. *waves her pointy stick*
Anyone who knows me at all, knows that I am extremely lenient (often to the point of absurdity) in most situations... D: People always gettin away with shenanigans! XD In this case though, I WILL NOT TOLERATE POOR CONDUCT! If you screw up, I WILL revoke winnings and/or ban you from my charity. I'm only doing this because I want to give back to the ES community in some small way, and I would be very, very insulted if my good intentions are stepped on. SO please please please read ALL of the rules here.
I encourage people to ask questions if they are still confused after reading through everything, rather than keep it to themselves only to make mistakes later on. Despite all the barking I did above, I don't bite. xD
Onto the important stuff!
First, and most importantly, I want you to realize that I will never actually send you a trade! How do I know you're not gonna spend it on booze HUH?? If you win a donation from me, I will note it here in this thread for reference and the amount you won will be subtracted from the available charity funds.
How the heck is that gonna work, you ask? Well, you can think of the winnings as credit. If you have 500k in gift money from my charity thread, you can use that money toward the payment of a custom pala. Please note that this money is -only- good for the monthly custom slots offered by various staff members. Currently, you may not use the charity funds toward ES auctions/raffles/etc.
Also of extreme importance, just because you win enough to pay for a custom, it doesn't guarantee that you'll get a slot from one of our artists! It is up to you to snag a slot for youself through the normal means. I will not attempt to coerce my artists in any way to accept your orders, so please don't ask.
Unless your charity prize specifically states "Payment in full for one custom pala", you're only going to get as much as I give you. Meaning, if you approach an artist for a price quote on a potential custom pala, and they tell you it's gonna be 860k when you only have 700k in gift funds from my charity.... You still have to come up with that last 160k on your own if you want to get that pala from that artist.
DO NOT try and ask an artist to lower their prices just to match what you have in your charity funds. If I hear about it, I will revoke your winnings immediately. Even if it's only 10k short, don't do it. I will not have my artists short-changed. xP
Winnings will have expiration dates! zomg!?!?!... Actually it's not that big of a deal. xD Each person's charity fund will have a "shelf life" of approximately two months before being circulated back to the general prize pot. However! Just by posting in this thread that you are still actively questing for your custom, the date is reset for another two months. That means all you need to do is post here once every two months or so to make sure your prize remains yours. Before anyone complains, I am doing this to make sure my gold doesn't end up in limbo should someone become inactive for any reason. D: Why am I going to keep this 500k sitting to the side for someone who hasn't shown their faces in months? Pffft.
People are more than welcome to gift their funds to others if they like. Please post in this thread with your request if you want to transfer your winnings to another person for whatever reason.
I decide how to give out prizes. I may stumble upon a quest thread and happen to really like a concept, or I'll do some random mini event, or I dunno.. whatever I feel like doing. Don't complain about my methods not being fair please >: I'm sure I'll do a good amount of raffles and "fair" things over time. But like I said before, this is all gold from my personal funds, so I get to be as random with it as I want.
And that's all I can think of atm... I will append rules and information to this post if I come up with something I forgot, or if there are other questions that need answering. ^^
