Since I'd had sort of bad luck getting dragons from the drops, I didn't bother looking how many I was picking up until the drop was over-- now I've accidentally got an extra or two that I really want to give to some of my friends who didn't manage to get Halloween eggs, but I keep hearing on the forums that you can't abandon them?! sad Anyone else in this situation?

Yeah, but… they're still eggs, I want to be able to abandon them! crying It's not like any more are being made.

Hm, I hadn't seen that... that would suck big time, since it'd mean I wouldn't be able to get one at all, no trades. Or maybe it's just harder, like with the hatchlings that sometimes run back but if you try often enough will be abandoned after all.

Ah well, we'll see, they've got at least a week to grow up (for those who can hatch/mature them at 3.5 days), up to two weeks on the outside. I'll keep an eye on trade threads and the abandoned page regardless and I'll see whether I can grab one somehow.

Why ask me to explain a post here and not in the thread where I posted that message? It makes sense when you see the entire thread where I posted that, I hope I won't confuse even more people by posting the explanation here. But okay:

That other thread was started by someone complaining about people picking up multiple eggs. My answer was that I'm very glad that people have multiples, because now I can probably find someone who has multiple Halloween eggs and will trade one (for a regular one-for-one trade, or maybe two-for-one since it's a once-a-year only). But *if* everyone only had picked up one -as the thread starter said they should have- *then* no one would let their only Halloween egg go even if I were to make an offer of 10 golds (or some other outrageous offer). Since this isn't the case, and people *do* have extra's, I'm hoping to get one a bit cheaper than that. smile

I got one from the abandon page so I aint sure what all this none abandable stuff is about

There are currently theories that when you try to abandon them, they duplicate, in a sense, and one goes back to the scroll while the other goes to the abandoned page. Others have said that the ones on the abandoned page are the Halloween eggs that people killed, with the same code and everything. My favorite theory was that the ones on the abandoned page are all of the eggs from the mass breed that didn't get adopted by the end of it and died of lack of time.

Note that all of these are theories that I saw second and third-hand, so it's not much better than what we're wondering about here. But there have been several screenshots of people trying to abandon the eggs and finding that the egg basically followed them back to the scroll.

To summarize--they were actually abandonable at one point, they are not able to be abandoned any longer (as of the time of this post), and yet there are Halloween eggs on the abandoned page, and typically in large groups. It's a mystery 3nodding
