~ Spell of the day November 1st 2008~
St. Catherine’s Day Ritual
Color of the day: Rose Incense of the day: Ylang-ylang
St. Catherine, saint of unmarried women, is the matron of this day. Even in this age, there is a lot of pressure for women to marry and have families by a certain age. Women who are happily single and childless still face societal expectations that can be hard to deal with. On this day, try a spell for self-love and acceptance. Wear robes of pale pink, blue, or green. Light candles and decorate the altar with flowers. Have cakes and wine ready. Meditate upon your life: your accomplishments, your dreams, and all the friends and loved ones whose company you enjoy. Drink the wine, saying: “I toast my independence and celebrate my choice to be solitary.” Eat the cakes, saying: “I nurture myself, and within me I can find everything I need.” Then recite in a bold voice:
As I drink this wine and eat these cakes, I celebrate companionship and loyalty Of many friends and loved ones.

Crystal Spell November 2nd, 2008
To bring about something you truly desire, in the evening lay a crystal on some black cloth as you meditate on the powers of the ancient gods. Settle down in the near-darkness and fix your gaze on the crystal, willing power into it. Take your time, and eventually it will begin to glow, perhaps dimly or more brightly, with a white, green, or gray mist about it. Then pick up the crystal and rub it between your hands, drawing its power into your body. Then put down the crystal, your hands are likely to be glowing by now, wait thirteen breaths as you built the power even more and shape it to your desire, then throw the power forth with your hands. Afterwards, light a candle or turn on the lights, and wash both your hands and the crystal in cold water to remove any residual glow.

Family Event Destressing Ritual November 3rd, 2008
Color of the day: White Incense of the day: Rose
While many times a family gathering may be a happy event that is well planned and anticipated with much joy, it can also sometimes be a nerve-racking event, especially if you are the one hosting. Before the guests arrive, make time for yourself. This should last about an hour, and you should be the only focus. Take a hot bath with some grounding, calming bath salts. Center and relax. All the planning is done. The focus is now on you. In the bathroom, burn candles that give off calming scents. Ginger-bread, vanilla, lavender, and apple spice are good aromatherapies. Place a piece of sodalite in your pocket to remind you to be personable with your guests. A quick prayer to Hestia is helpful too.

Find a New Home Spell November 4th, 2008
To find a new home, gather everyone who will live in the new home for this ritual. First, light a blue candle and calm everyone. Then chant "We now live in the perfect home in the perfect neighborhood." If any doubts or thoughts come up, say the word, "thought." Imagine the thought going into the flame and burning up. The released energy will help you continue your chant. After several minutes, speak the chant louder. Imagine the energy becoming a tornado moving upward into the universe to find the perfect home for you. Release the energy into the universe, knowing that you will be guided to the perfect home.

Silver Dollar Spell November 5th, 2008 To promote happiness and prosperity, take four silver dollars, bearing the current year if possible, and place them face up on the ground at the four corners of your home. Along with the coins, place some rue and vervain, a sprig of wheat, a few raw corn kernels, and a few pink or red rose petals. As you bury these things, say: “Bright coins, bless this house. Replace our worries with happiness and prosperity!” Do this during the waxing Moon for best results.

Compassion Meditation November 6th, 2008
Color of the day: Orange Incense of the day: Peony
To soften emotions and promote understanding of others on this day at the end of the shortest month of winter, take a piece of dry tree bark, break it into small pieces, and place them in a burning bowl. Next, write some harsh judgments you have made about yourself or others on small pieces of newspaper and tuck the paper around and under the tree bark. Be specific with what you write. Burn the paper and bark down to the ashes as you envision all of your harsh judgments, both present and future, transforming to ash. On top of the cooled ashes, light some myrrh incense to help promote compassion and openness to others. While the incense is burning, breathe deeply and feel your heart opening to more tender feelings. After the incense has burned away, take all of the ashes and place them in a small flowerpot filled with earth. On a windy day, put the dirt and ashes outdoors to be scattered and purified by the four winds.

Attracting Wealth Spell November 7th, 2008 Color of the day: White Incense of the day: Jasmine
For this spell gather a silver coin (real silver, if possible), some dried basil, a pinch dried sage, one green candle, any combination of malachite, tiger’s-eye, pyrite, peridot, or aventurine. Carve a dollar sign into the candle while visualizing your wallet bulging and your bills marked “paid.” Place the coin in a heat-proof container beneath the candle. Lay the stones either inside the container or around it, and light the candle. Sprinkle the herbs at the base of the candle, and chant:
Money, money come to me, As I will so mote it be. I only wish to fulfill my need. I do this out of love, not greed.
Allow the candle to burn out and cool. Remove the coin and stones to keep on your altar as the spell manifests.

Rune Meditation for Clearing Energy Flow November 8th, 2008 Color of the day: Amber Incense of the day: Peony
We have all felt the frustration of spells that flop. While it’s possible that a failed spell is just an indication that the universe has another agenda for you, it’s also very possible that there is a hidden obstacle in the energy flow. Issues with confidence and empowerment are among the greatest saboteurs that block energy. The runes of Ken (k), Haegl (h), and Gyfu (g) will be used in a guided imagery to open and uncover disruptions and to balance the chakra energy flow. Visualize Ken over the root chakra. Focus on opening the energies flowing from your root to your crown. Reveal any blockages by positioning Haegl over your root chakra. Visualize this rune uncovering disruptions as its energy flows to your crown. Return Haegl’s flow from the crown to the root, uncovering any “manifestation” blockages. Visualize Gyfu flowing from your root to your crown to balance your chakra energy. Focus on and journal any feelings or perceptions that you encountered. Reprogram any obstacles that were uncovered.

Gypsy Travel Spell November 10th, 2008
The gypsies honor their patron, St. Sarah, on this day. Say this charm to St. Sarah when you are going on a long journey, and she will protect you as she has protected the gypsies for centuries. To start, in a yellow bag place bells, an agate, and a sprig of rue. As you leave home, say:
Traveler, Tartar, Tinker, St. Sarah, don’t you sink her; Keep me safe in a car; Please let me fly far. Traveler, Tinker, Tartar.
When you return home safely, bury the rue and thank St. Sarah for keeping you from harm.

Wart Removal Charms November 11th, 2008
Color of the day: Blue Incense of the day: Pine
During the night, half fill a silver dish with spring water and some dandelions. Bathe the wart-afflicted body part in the dish. Rub the dandelions against the wart. Massage the sap of the dandelions into the wart, then pat dry gently with a towel. Discard the water and bury the dandelions in the earth. Before turning in for the night, dab some undiluted lemon essential oil onto the wart. There would be some easing of discomfort by the morning. Continue this treatment ritual for at least two weeks. Another charm for ridding warts is to rub them with a stone. When done, wrap the stone in several layers of tissue paper, and request a friend to bury it at a crossroads. Another folk remedy utilizes a potato for rubbing warts, which is then buried deep in soil. The wart will disappear as the potato disintegrates in the ground.

Autumn Garden Blessing November 12th, 2008
Color of the day: Topaz Incense of the day: Evergreen
The autumn months are the perfect time to add to your gardens. Take a moment and bless your crocus, tulip, hyacinth, and daffodil bulbs as you tuck them in the garden this autumn. A general rule of thumb is to plant the bulb two to three times deeper than the length of the bulb itself, and if you can’t distinguish between top and bottom, just plant the bulb on its side: the shoots will instinctively grow to the sun. Dig your holes and set the bulbs. As you go to cover them back up, tap the soil three times with your dominant hand and repeat this charm.
Planted deep in autumn, to shoot forth in spring, Beauty, joy, and enchantment these bulbs will bring. Now sleep the winter away and store your energy well, Next spring you’ll grow both tall and true, all from this autumn spell.

Spell for Religious Tolerance November 17th, 2008 Color of the day: Lavender Incense of the day: Narcissus
Queen Elizabeth I gained the throne on this day in 1558. As power shifted from the Catholic Mary to the Protestant Elizabeth, a new wave of religious persecution began. Sound familiar? Begin your spell by lighting one white and two blue candles. These candles symbolize the three monotheistic religions, the Christian, Muslim, and Jewish faiths. Include on your altar pictures of religious and political leaders you feel need more tolerance. Hold each picture, one at a time, and visualize that person at peace. Visualize that person tolerant of other peoples’ beliefs. The Buddha said:
All we experience is preceded by mind, led by mind, made by mind. Speak or act with a peaceful mind and happiness follows like a shadow that never leaves.

Healthy Skin Magic November 21st, 2008
Color of the day: Pink Incense of the day: Yarrow
Both men and women can look their best every day with some healthy skin care. Throw in a little magic and you are ready for anything! To keep your skin healthy and glowing, mix half a cup of oatmeal and half a cup of water to form a paste. Add three teaspoons of milk and one tablespoon of honey. Apply to your face. As it dries, feel the cleansing and tightening of the paste. Visualize yourself healthy and radiant. Then wash it off with warm water. After this deep cleaning, tone your skin with a rosewater splash: blend three cups witch hazel, two tablespoons rose oil (for dry skin) or half a cup dried rose petals (for oily skin), and one teaspoon of rosemary or lavender. As you mix, visualize yourself refreshed and youthful. Strain out the herbs and splash it on your face.

Let It Snow Spell November 29th, 2008
Color of the day: Blue Incense of the day: Sandalwood
Cold and crisp outside? Or is your skiing weekend in danger of being canceled due to lack of the white stuff? A spell to make it snow may be in order. This spell is best done in the evening. Put shaved ice in a blue bowl. Light a blue candle and place it in the bowl, adding more ice if needed to stabilize it. Then say:
Goddess of the northern cold, Goddess of the snowy fields, Bring me snow From your clouds on high, Upon the Earth, May it be revealed. Let it snow and let it stay, So in your honor, We can play!
Leave the candle to burn out, then place the water outside on the ground. Go to bed and dream of soft white snow.
