The days hustle and bustle was only just beginning in Durem, the sun just barely peeking out over the tops of the high, gothic buildings. Lance held his mother's hand tightly, a yawn escaping the dragon's form. Dragonfly had said something about getting early shopping done, and Lance had volunteered to go with her.

Somehow he wasn't so sure that he wanted to be with her anymore... They had only been walking for little over half an hour and Lance was already beginning to get bored. The way Dragonfly skirted from shop to shop, before doubling back to drop in at ones the ones she had overlooked, or pointedly missed. Lance found this highly annoying, and he was just about ready to give Dragonfly a piece of his mind.

Dragonfly on the other hand, was humming softly to herself, fairly aloof this morning. It wasn't normal of her to be up so early, but something seemed to have put her in a very good mood.

Angelus and Silent walked the alleyways of the town, making sure the sunlight didn't burn the woman. Her form was covered in a long thick cape with a hood covering her face. Angelus didn't have the problem his mother had. Silent peeked out onto the busy sidewalk from an alleyway. Looking to the left and right, she made sure it wasn't too busy with people. She didn't want anyone to accidentally remove her covering or else she would be a toasty Silent. Seeing that the coast was clear, she quickly made her way down the sidewalk. She needed to get some shopping done.

Angelus quickly followed Silent, staying behind her. That way he wouldn't get run over. Watching the area in front of her, Angelus noticed that they were going to collide into a mother and child. " Stop!" Silent dutifully stopped in her tracks.

"What?" she looked behind her at Angelus. He pointed his finger in front of her. Oh... Now she knew what he meant. She had her face to the ground. She didn't noticed the two in front of her. " I'm sorry. " She apologized. Even though they didn't run into one another, it was a close collission that was thwarted.

Dragonfly was brought out of her stupor by a woman swathed in black stepping out in front of her. She took a step back, blinking at the sudden arrival, before he eyes were drawn towards the voice of a boy. Her head tilted to look towards Angelus, and she couldn't help but blink at the boy's odd appearance.

No. Not odd. On Gaia, no appearance was odd. After all, her own was odd enough. Long Drow ears and small black, pointed horns were concealed beneath a jester hat she never seemed to take off. The hat had been a bit of a joke at first, arriving in the mail with a letter saying "Congratulations on winning! Blah blah blah blah.." and at first, Dragonfly had hardly taken it seriously.

But now the hat had grown on her, and it was excellent for concealing her heritage. Her once grey, now black hair fell over her left eye, concealing the deep scar tissue that had rendered her blind in that eye. Her other eye, a magnificant gold, stared at Angelus quizicly.

Lance stepped out from his mother's side, releasing her hand, and staring at Angelus and Silent with a silent, critical eye. The look quickly passed, and he bowed to the two, before standing up straight, and smiling softly.

"No need to apologize, it was as much our fault as it was yours," he replied.

Dragonfly couldn't help but be impressed by the other's actions, and an approving smile graced her features. Though his words weren't of the best choice, she was still impressed by how much the other had grown, physically, and mentally.

The dragon child now stood with his head just below Dragonfly's armpit, surprisingly tall, in Dragonfly's eyes. His wooden sword was sheathed in a belt she had bought for him long ago, and he wore the modestly tailored outfit that he felt a page or squire should be found him.

After all, to become a knight, one had to start at the beginning.

Silent cocked her head to the side. Her face was hidden. Nothing could be seen. Only an eerie voice came from the black cloack. She didn't want to risk letting in the sunlight. But slightly raising her head, she noticed a pretty woman with a.... dragon? Now that was odd. She was used to Gaia having all sorts of beings, but still... she was always surprised by new things. Being a vampiress, she'd seen it all. But she couldn't remember ever seeing a dragon anthro child. Smelling the air, she could tell the woman wasn't human. Thank goodness for her keen sense of smell.

Angelus noticed his mothers observant eyes, but the sun was about to shine in. Angelus quickly shoved his mother into a shaded area. A shop with an ottoman offered shade. Silent didn't realize the sunlight was creeping in until Angelus threw her into the shade. He was his mothers protector and he liked it that way. He made sure no harm came her way.
Now she was able to reveal her face. Pulling back her hood, Short brown hair, the same cut as the woman, adorned her slender features. Piercing dark brown eyes looked from dragon to woman. Smiling, her canines slid from her nails. " Well, even though we are equal in our faults, I would still like to apologize." she responded to the woman. Brushing a few strands from her vision, she offered her hand to the woman. " I'm Silent by the way. And that is my child Angelus. Not biologically though. He's a Tale." She looked to her winged boy.

Though Dragonfly did not posess the other's keen sense of smell, she could still easily observe that the other was not human, either. Or- was human once, but was as such no longer.

She blinked as the boy pushed his mother into safety, and her suspisions were confirmed.

Dragonfly was unphased by the other having the same haircut as her, after all, it wasn't the most rare of styles, by any means. Dragonfly smiled back to the woman, but by no account was hers anywhere as menacing as the other's came across. Not that Silent meant it to be as such. However, Dragonfly was not at all unnerved by the smile. She had met her fair share of vampires before, after all.

"Your apology is accepted, then," Dragonfly replied cheerfully.

Lance spoke when Dragonfly had finished speaking, being ever polite.

"As Dragonfly said, your apology is accepted, and it is good to meet you Silent, and you, Angelus. I am Lance, and this is my gaurdian, Dragonfly," he bowed to Silent and Angelus, his own wings twitching slightly, "I too, am a Tall Tale,"

He smiled to the two, before glancing back to Dragonfly, quizical about what Angelus had said.

"Perfectly understandable," Dragonfly replied, wafting a hand, as if to waft away the mistake, "It could have happened to the best of us. As Lance said, it is good to meet you. The both of you,"

What were the chances of running into another Tale in Durem this early in the morning? Dragonfly found it quite the interesting coincidence. Not that she minded, however.

Silent smiled at Dragonfly and Lance. Silent didn't realize that they collided into another Tall Tale. Interesting.

" Well it very much is a pleasure to meet you both. We're actually shopping. Are you?" she inquired of the two.

Angelus nodded his head. " It is nice to meet you. Both of you." He looked from the dragon to the woman.

Angelus stood by his mothers side like a guardian, a protector, a bouncer of sorts. Even though he was about three feet tall.

"Aye, I have some things I need to pick up, and Durem is the only place to get them," she replied, smiling brightly to the other, "I assume, from what Angelus said earlier, you are both doing the same?"

"We could shop togethor!" Lance suggested, unable to keep from grinning. It would be much more exciting to have someone to talk too while his mother did her annoying skirting from side to side to side, as apposed to just having to stand, and be dragged along.

Lance stood taller than Angelus, at about three and a half, to four feet, but it was obvious that Lance was still just a kid, and he liked it that way.

Silent nodded in agreement. " That it is. Durem sells exactly what most people need. Human and non-human alike." Looking down at her side, she laid a hand upon Angelus' head. The boy looked up at his mother and smiled. " And most of the items I'm shopping for are for this little one."

Angelus smiled. At times he didn't shopping with Silent, but most of the time it did get annoying.

Silent looked to the little dragon and smiled. " That would be great! If your mother is ok with it, of course. It's always better to shop with more people than just by yourself." She commented.

Angelus looked to the dragon and nodded in agreement. " Sounds good." And actually, today would be a good day for him. Silent promised to take him to a book and music store for Halloween. The vampiress celebrated Halloween with gifts and candy instead of Christmas. Angelus didn't complain one bit.

Both parents were in luck, as Dragonfly too had to take a trip to the book store. Lance felt that his shelves had grown rather bare, and he needed new literature to spice things up for himself.

Dragonfly grinned at Silent's words, and nodded, "Aye, most of the shopping I've come to do is for Lance. I almost get the feeling that our meeting was almost... Well, destiny,"

Dragonfly chuckled a bit, raising a hand to run through her hair, messing it up slightly, only to flatten it down once more.

"And, of course I don't mind us accompanying the two of you. I'm sure they'll be much more interested in looking over things togethor, rather than having us parents make suggestions,"

"What she said," Lance smiled, "So where do we go first?"

Hopefully shopping with the other's would halt Dragonfly's sparatic pattern..

Silent smiled. " Destiny? Could be! " she smiled. "It would be much more interesting for the four of us to shop together. Who knows what could happen?" she looked pointedly at her Tale. He was a trouble maker and they both knew it.

Angelus listened to the two women speak. His brown eyes went to the dragon before him. "Hmm.... How about the book store?" Angelus offered. He was pretty impatient and wanted to go and find some new books to read.

Dragonfly grinned back to the other, and nodded.

"Aye, as I said, it's always more fun shopping with other's," she chuckled a bit, a genuine smile across her features.

"Bookstore sounds good," Lance replied curtly to Angelus, nodding his head in approval, "M'all outa good stuff to read. Maybe you could suggest something for me?"

Lance tilted his head a bit with a grin, tail swishing idly behind him. He had a feeling that this day had just gotten a lot better.

Silent smiled at the woman and dragon. "Well then! Let's not dilly dally! Let's head off to the bookstore!"

Angelus nodded at Lance's comment. "No problem. There's so many titles and authors to choose from. What do you like to read?" That would Angelus recommend books to the boy.

His brown eyes looked to his mother. They would be leaving soon. He looked to the dragon. "Ready?"

"Aye, I say!" Dragonfly grinned, looking to the busy street, and beginning to walk towards her favorite book store, which she knew wasn't far. But of course, she waited for the others.

"Have you ever heard of Eragon?" Lance questioned, smiling brightly at the thought of his favorite book.

He turned his head to look towards Dragonfly, and nodded as he realized that they were indeed, leaving. He definitely wanted to walk with the other, and find out what books Angelus liked to read.

"Overall though, I like fantasy books, and books about heroes, and good versus evil," he continued, before asking, "So what about you?"

Dragonfly was glad that Lance seemed to be getting along with Angelus. After all, the dragon tale was usually a bit of a loner. Seeing him making friends made Dragonfly have happy fuzzy tinglies.

"Aye aye captain!" Silent chuckled and followed the woman. The vampiress looked behind her to make sure the children didn't fall too much behind.

Angelus pondered over the name. Eragon... Eragon... "I don't think so." he admitted. "But it sounds familiar." That it did. Maybe from glancing through hundreds of titles at the bookstore, he read over the name but didn't think much of it.

"Fantasy books? Like fairy's and dragons? Silent has three dragons! Aphrodite, Dameon, and Ninrakshi. Aphrodite can fly, Nin can float in the air, and Dameon has speed on the ground. They're a lot of fun to hang around with. Silent has all types of creatures back home!" Angelus was fascinated with anything and everything Silent brought home. It was always a surprise to see what the woman brought every time she went out. Just recently, she brought home a ducky and another horse. Thank goodness the home that lived at was big enough to house these creatures.

" Heroes? I don't know much about heroes. Ah! Good versus evil! I know those type of books. What do I read? Hmmm.... History. Silent has a vampires bible. Interesting read, I must say. I like mystery, horror, and suspense. But I enjoy reading books on knowledge." Angelus chuckled and bit his bottom lip. "I'm a bit of a nerd like that." he admitted shyly.
