An empty sparring ground, cleared of all obstacles. The ground is flattened from use, and dusty. There is lots of space to move around, nothing restricting.

((No one lese may post in here besides KidMental or an officer VC rank or higher if they deem it necessary

I'll post with Michi once Nicohlas posts))

[Let us begin...with an intro]

"Well..." Nicholas muttered, hands full with his new LongSword. "This is certainly strange"

He could have been certain he was at a training field with Kiba a few minutes ago.

Sniffing behind his mask, he glanced around the training field. Big, bad, dusty and lots of space.

Nicholas twitched. His idea of a battlefield was one filled with lots of obstacles. That way, if the going got tough he could run behind some and begin Thrusting them at his opponents while he re-strategized.

"Well, looks like I can't bullshit a shikai..." he sighed. "Very well then..."

But what to do in the mean time. Nicholas pondered on this for about 0.2 seconds, before exchanging glances with his long sword.

-A second later-

"FOR PONY!" He roared, spinning around in the air while his robes billowed around him awesomely. Sure, he looked weird, jumping and screaming by himself, but damn it this was probably the most fun anyone had ever had when warming up.

Shunpoing onto the the training ground she had set up, Michiko came to a stop near the center of the area, scarf billowing behind her and hair hanging loose today. Pulling her scarf down from its place over her face and down to her neck line, she turned to look for the trainee. Sure enough, Nicholas wasn't all that hard to spot, jumping around noisily nearby.

By now Michiko knew that that was a typical warm-up for him, though nothing about him really came off as typical in the slightest. Smiling a second about it, she quickly returned her face to its unreadable expression she kept in a match.

"Nicholas, get back over here," She shouted to get his attention. She needed to tell him the rules before they started at this.

"We're gonna rock around the Society tonight-Oh, Vice-Captain!"

Dropping to a stop, legs bending so that Nicholas crouched awesomely, English longsword held upwards to complete the look. All he needed was a suit, some sunglasses, a cigarette that blew out green smoke, maybe a smoke bomb or two, a poisoned dagger for fun and a dead body.

Only if...

Bowing lowly while sweeping his hat off with his spare hand, Nicholas smiled widely under his mask, resisting the urge to skip around Michiko in joy while singing praises.

"Vice-Captain" he said in a formal tone. Yes good, calm...control...you are the weapon...wait what?

SHIIIIKKKKAAAAIII!

He resisted to urge to skip again.

"Wait a minute...rules?" The urge to skip withered away. Nicholas sighed. You can't get everything in life...er, afterlife it seems...

As he came to a stop and bowed Michiko returned with a nod. This was guy was alright despite him seemingly lacking ability to concentrate. Rolling her eyes a little at his obvious disappointment with the fact that there were rules, she let it slide.

"There's nothing to limiting so buck up. First, we are training in this large empty area so there is no outside interference in this training. So first rule is that its just you and me out here, you have to keep your mind on the fight. Next, as you should know, attaining your shikai is the same as learning your zanpaktou's name. This said, that means you will have to confront your zanpaktou spirit, and to do so you have to be on the brink of death. I will be coming at you with killing intent and force, not the usual for a training spar but as I would for an actual match, so the most important rule is not to hesitate and stay at your full force, or you risk making a mistake and it could cost you your life," She said, stating the general parameters of the training. As always when actually doing training with trainees and recruits she kept her voice void of emotion, keeping it serious so they would get the point.

Hands going to her hips she asked, "Any questions before we begin? If not come at me and we'll start."

"Gee..." Nicholas commented sarcasticly. "Certainty of death, small chance of success...this sounds a lot like my chances of asking you out on a date doesn't it? Well, what are we waiting for?"

Swinging his new Blade around a bit, he took up his standard opening pose, feet balanced apart and bent, head tilted slightly down.

A brief pause.

He dashed forward, using the potential energy he had stored up in his bent legs to propel himself forward. He continued until he was barely a metre away from Michiko, before he suddenly feinted to the right, before leaping left instead, bringing his blade around in a high arc towards his Vice-Captain's left shoulder, his famous brimmed hat flying off his head, causing his long brown hair to billow behind him.

He was now literally side by side to the Vice-Captain, and by using his slight height and weight advantage, he hoped to force Michiko to block awkwardly, allowing Nicholas time to press on with his attack.

Rolling her eyes at his comment, she took it that meant he was aware of what the guidelines she gave implied. Bending her knees and widening her stance, she lowered her arms to her sides, awaiting his attack. Clenching and unclenching her right hand in a fist she smiled, looking forward to seeing Nicholas' progress.

Now, most people who look at Michiko can tell she has a disadvantage due to her size. What most don't think much about is the balancing factor. Her speed.

Unmoving as Nicholas dashed forwards and did his feint one way and went the other, she waited until he brought his blade up so its direction and path was decided. As it was aimed towards her shoulder she half dashed half side-stepped away from the target of the blow and leap forwards towards Nicohlas, throwing a punch with her right arm towards his gut, which would probably leave him winded if he didn't act fast to dodge.

Oh. Crap.

Nicholas mental head hit mental palm in exasperation.

Michiko had mentioned herself in her office that she had once been part of Squad 7, experts in the hand to hand. Nicholas had no doubt that she would cream him in a hand to hand fight.

But that wasn't going to stop him.

Nicholas let go of everything: His doubts over his chances of surviving, his strange fascination for Hollow blood tea, the pickup lines he was dying to use...

And his sword.

The heavy blade embedded itself into the soft ground below it and both of Nicholas' hands shot forward to block, catching her arm intbetween the two. He proceeded to pull, hoping to throw her off balance while one of his legs shot forward, hoping to get her in the stomach if it connected, while he directed a trickle of spiritual energy down to his other leg, keeping him firmly connected to the ground.

'I'm now getting into a hand to hand situation with the Vice Captain...and not the good kind. This isn't going to end well...' He thought to himself.

As Nicholas caught her arm and pulled she pivoted on her left foot, and brought her right knee up to her middle meet his kick, so it hit her shin, much less effectively than it would have been to her stomach. Unflinching from the minor hit, Michiko yanked her arm loose while extended the rest of her leg up for a kick aimed towards her opponent's side before jumping back a step or so.

"Good planning to your moves, but remember your opponent can sometimes use those very moves to find a weakness or use the move against you, ready to take this up a notch?" Michiko said, her voice thoroughly serious yet not stern, more instructive. With that she crouched suddenly and did a sweep kick with a punch towards her trainee's knee simultaneously, hoping that would force him to lose the focus on its reflex.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 10, 2008 9:42 pm

'Oof'ing as Michiko's kick connected with his side, he stumbled back, rubbing furiously at his side for a moment before pouring down some reiatsu to his legs and leaping up high into the air, the sweep kick and punch sailing harmlessly underneath him.

Kicking out with his leg in an attempt to force Michiko back, he landed and lashed out with a punch himself, body twisting into the blow.

"Take it out a notch?" he asked, performing his favourite one-two combo. "Now we're getting kinky."

Despite his flamboyant attitude, Nicholas wasn't really a fan of overly exaggerated attacks that involved disappearing in front of your opponent, reappearing behind them, b***h slapping them abit, saying a few sexy badass lines and then leaving again.

The brief training he had had in concentrating his energy, helped him direct his reiatsu into his legs, and as Nicholas placed his weight on to his front leg, he grabbed the Academy blade he had at his belt and dashed forward.

There was a bright flash indicating where the Academy katana had passed by, and Nicholas skidded to a stop next to his embedded longsword, twirling the katana blade around a bit, counting a loud

"One...two...three...four." He sheathed his sword. "Five."

A large cracking sound was heard and a long the ground the travelled past, a long cut could be scene, indicating how much reiatsu he had bloody channeled into his blade.

"I can't call it anything cool or dramatic like you guys, but I literally came up with it on the spot there. I think I'll call it 5 Second Slash." Nicholas called out, pulling his longsword out of the ground and wheeling it around to Michiko.

"Let's try that again with this sword..."

--

The concept behind the 5 Second Slash was simple, a simultaneous transfer of reiatsu to both his legs and his sword. The reiatsu in his legs allowed him to slide along the ground for a brief period of time, which on top of his speed made him pretty fast and the reiatsu in his sword just made the thing even more dangerous.

Sidestepping the kick and ducking the punch, Michiko could still tell Nicholas was really thinking hard about his moves, and concentration like this for him was a step in a good direction. As he grabbed his academy katana and ran forwards Michiko bent her knees, ready to spring again, but paused as he didn't come at her per say and tried out a new move.

Feeling the spike of his reiatsu at the moment of the execution she surmised that the technique was built on speeding himself up through his legs and strengthening his blow. The disadvantage to that she could see was though his sword seemed deadlier, his hand work had the same reactions as normal, and an attack from above that's well placed would avoid it completely.

Time to show him a more dynamic battle I guess.
Finally! Do I get to mess with this smuck? Not yet... As he spoke, her opponent was wasting precious time he could be repositioning himself in. Drawing both her katanas with a flourish as he pulled out his long sword, Michiko answered as she sprung up into the air, "Impressive, but let's see you apply it to a real fight." Her leap up was now heading down towards her opponent, and she slashed down towards his longsword and helf her blade there as a barrier so it blocked a forced up slash and slashed towards his right shoulder, still in the air.

((Ha, I see you lengthened it since I last read it, I wrote a post based on your shorter one in computers class yesterday only to find it needs more XD
Oh, and careful, remember reiatsu isn't chakra, it helps but it doesn't do all the same things))

((Yeah...I kinda wrote that in a daze after 4 hours of exams and a sport finals. Go me))

((I'm still in a daze))

Nicholas contemplated swearing. It wasn't hard resisting the urge, seeing as he was in a bit of pickle as it was, but most of his attention was focused on Michiko's sword, which seemed really intent on slashing his right shoulder.

He knew he couldn't move his sword there in time, Michiko's little sword trick had prevented his any real decent sword movement, and his inexperience with the sword prevented him from pulling off good blocking movements.

Hand to hand was out of the question, leaving...

"Hado One: Thrust" The long sword was a weapon designed for use in both one and two hands, and Nicholas used the precious few seconds he had before the blade hit flesh to fire off the attack.

The attack was aimed at Michiko's body, and could be easily avoided, which was why it was followed up by Nicholas' bastardization of...

"Hado 4: White Lightning" His hand spread apart, he poured out from his fingers White Lightning after White Lightning, the attack spread wide apart to limit Michiko's movement.

Meanwhile, his hand retightened around his longsword, and Nicholas began planning for his next attack...

((I saw a penguin video today after an hour of exams...))

The kidou spell thrust hit, but not directly, only throwing her back about a metre in the air, and seeing his wind up for another Michiko sighed a moment, realizing to keep this moving on track it'd be better to call him out. Finging her arms out, blades pointing out to the sides, she called out, "Swoop, Takahishou!"

Blades growing out and morphing to their jagged shikai form, Michiko swept them downwards, shooting herself higher into the air above the range of the lightning attack. Slowing her rise as she reached a good 5 metre over head, well out of an sword's reach, she drifted, blades out catching the wind like wings.
Alright! So what do you have planned? Takahishou's excitement a bit contagious a smile crept onto Michiko's face. As suddenly as her dash before had been She broke into a dive towards Nicholas and swerved to his left, a kick aimed for his ribs, brandishing her blades that helped her glide, ready to pulled them out in front to counter if need be.

((Again sorry for the delay, having internet troubles, it keeps deleting my posts -_-""))

"Wait...is she fly-OOF"

The rest of Nicholas exclamation was cut off by Michiko's not so subtle kick to his ribs, sending him flying.

"Oh." Nicholas said as he hit the ground. "Oh this is bad."

Stabbing his blade into the ground, he hefted himself up, before with a loud roar, tore it back out again and swung, pouring reiatsu into the strike.

Strangely though, the attack was not aimed at Michiko's body, but at the big dusty ground before him, sending up debris and dust, effectively blinding the two.

There was a pregnant pause.

"Why did I just do that?"

Nicholas winced as loose rocks bounced off his body and dust invaded the slits of his mask, but pressed on, listening intently for any sound of Michiko.

"Hang on a tick." Nicholas thought to himself. "She can fly. Does that mean she has mastery over air? Dear God, she could blow this god damn house right now. Its murder on the dance floor!"

Nicholas stopped in his ramblings, curious to how he bastardized a song and how he got into that train of thinking.

"Still...this gives me time to think. I can't see her, and she can't see me...yet. Big risk time..."

That too was a thought. Just in case you needed to know.

Blade held horizontally before him in a guard position, he waited, doing his best to keep silent as he watched the dust slowly circle around him...

"She might wait this out to...this cloud ain't going to be here forever..."

His eyes continued to track around him.

"There!" A flash of red! He dashed forward, blade already crackling with reiatsu as he swung high, hoping to get in an attack...

Turning up from her dive enough to circle and hovering about 3 metres up, Michiko watched Nicholas get back on his feet and landed, getting ready to deal more damage. As he swung his sword she made to move, only to stop /and see his aim was completely off. What is he- She was cut off as the dust shot up from the impact. Eyes shutting at the force of it, Michiko used her chin to bump up her scarf so if covered her mouth, pieces of debris falling in random directions. Was that even planned?

Now with her eyes shut tight to keep the dust out, Michiko sure couldn't see him, but she did know the general direction he was in. Smirking under her scarf, she breathed out the words quitely, "Swipe Spin." Stepping with her foot and pivoting, and repeating again and again, she spun herself, bring her blades up on either side of her, jagged edges sticking out. The spin became faster and faster, until Michiko was in the center of a twister of her own creation. The dust and debris spun with the motion, flying out rather than inwards. Her steps had started and continued in the direction of her opponent. With her blades moving this fast, if he was her he'd better think to retreat out of the path if he wanted things to go well for him.

((Hehe, looking what he's dashing towards.))
