Kuyoja was at best trying to figure out the best type of class for his new student. He hadn't taught him before...thus gathering inforamtion about his previous classes as well the child's DNA type was trying to figure ot the best type of class for him.

He figured it was best to talk to the boy first, then decide what kind of class he would prefer. If he had no preference he would go ahead and they would study striking patterns. Already placing his matts around the gym he hoped the child would be punctiual as well eager to start. There was nothing worse than teaching an unwililng student.

As usual, Anoki was running a couple of minutes behind schedule. As usual, it was because of a disagreement with Raven. Finally he had managed to slip away without changing into the button-down shirt and slacks she wanted him to wear. Normally, he wouldn't have bothered arguing, but he was sure that wasn't appropriate for a fighting class. That was why he had loose-fitting clothes in the first place.

Fortunately, he was only a minute or two late as he dashed in, Myung-Ki on his tail. "I'm s-s-sorry," he panted, trying to catch his breath. Hopefully this teacher would be more forgiving than Raven was.

Kuyoja only turned his head after he allowed the student to catch his breath. He then moved to stand before both Anoki and his dragon Myung-ki.

"I expect you will arrive not quite so out of breath as this class next time." He murmured before he bowed to the boys dragon formally before returning his attention to the boy.

"This class I will allow you to choose the direction we move in. Which is your prefered fighting style? Offense? Defense? Tactics? Specialty?" He inquired his blue eyes watching the kid intensely.

Still a bit shaky, Anoki coughed and looked up. The scolding, of course, he had expected. Sometimes it seemed that Raven wanted him to be late to all his classes, just so his teachers would have cause to be hard on him.

The question, however, took him completely by surprise. No teacher had ever asked him what he wanted to learn. Raven would never even listen to his interests. What was he supposed to say? Was this part of a test?

Far less concerned with these matters, Myung-Ki stretched lazily, noting the bow and liking it. He did not return the gesture, but he cast an approving eye on the teacher. This was someone who knew how to treat people!

"Um..." Anoki wasn't sure, but he had to say something. "I'll p-pick something if you w-w-want me to, s-sir, b-but isn't there a p-place you want to st-start? I'm s-sure you would know b-better than m-me."

Kuyoja would of offered a smile to the boy if that was in his nature, instead he looked the boy over again before moving to stand in front of him.

"I do not like to restrict my students in such ways, I would like you to choose something you would be comfertable with. " he responded recallnig how he tried to teach a skunk offensive tactics and how badly that class went.

"If you pick a genre we can continue, if you are unsure we can just go with the lesson I have planned."

"I'm s-sorry," Anoki apologized quickly. Was this something he should have been prepared for? Maybe not, since the teacher said that he already had a lesson planned. Or was he expected to fail? In that case, maybe this teacher was more similar to Raven than he had thought.

He was reluctant to choose, and choose wrong. Maybe it would be better to let the teacher pick. But then, Anoki felt briefly angry. Why should he be bossed around in this class too? The teacher had told him to choose, and choose he would!

"I want to l-learn how t-to fight," he blurted out. "I m-mean, attacking. Of-fense." Where had that come from? Anoki rarely liked to pick fights... but it was something he needed to learn, and now was as good a time as any. Instead of shrinking away, he stood tall and waited for the verdict.

Kuyoja nodded his head approving that he was choosing his own path rather than letting him determine its course. It was lucky that he had already planned on striking patterns as well. Though he would try to include a few other things as well.

"Excellent. We can start with learning unarmed combat before moving onto weapons. That is..if you wish to learn how to use weapons." He stated as he moved towards one of the many targets he had set up. Always inform before letting a student attempt.

"This is the target we will be practicing on. I have marked on it some area's on the body that are good to aim for. There is one that isn't correct. Could you tell me which one?" He inquired as he pointed at the dummy.

It had several gold stars marked on it. One on the forhead, one on the necl, one on the diaphram, another on the shoulder.

Anoki let out a sigh of relief. If this was a test, it looked like he passed. And he would get to learn something interesting, for a change, rather than keep his nose stuffed in a book.

He quickly followed the teacher to the target. In truth, he was glad that he wasn't starting with the physical stuff straight away. Aside from one swordfight gone wrong, he really didn't know how to fight. But then again, that was what he was supposed to be learning.

Four stars. Four targets. Anoki had never been taught about this, but he imagined what it would feel like if someone hit him in those places. The head, of course, would hurt a lot. If someone got him in the neck, it would probably be hard for him to breathe. He'd been winded before, when Myung-Ki barreled into his stomach, and that had taken several moments to recover from. That left the shoulder. It would probably knock him off balance, but there wasn't much there to really hurt him.

"The sh-shoulder?" he guessed, crossing his fingers behind his back.

Kuyoja shook his head slowly and then explained. "Actually its the forhead. The should can be used for numerous techniques including tosses and dislocation. The forhead is actually the hardest to aim for as well strike, you can basically only use the palm of your hand unless you wish to break your hand. Remember the skull is fairly hard."

He explained as he went to remove the marker on the forehead. "But knowledge is power, the more you know the better off you would be in a fight if you ever were in. Knowledge in its own way is a weapon." He continued as he then pointed to the neck,

"Explain why the neck would be effective." he then pointed to the diaphram and the shoulder. "As well those."

Ooops. Anoki looked down, frustrated with himself. But the teacher didn't seem particularly disappointed. He just explained and moved on. Maybe that meant he didn't care? Anoki wasn't sure how he felt about that, but he was determined to do better next time, and not make that mistake again.

The stuff about the forehead made sense, now that it was explained to him. Anoki thought of his own head and gave a small smile. If someone tried to hurt his head, they'd probably just end up hurt. Maybe he could use that against people? But that was a question for another time.

The stuff about knowledge being useful was more of what Anoki had been lectured on by Raven and Mahou as long as he could remember. Not that he ever stopped believing it, but he didn't give the statement any special attention, and instead focused on the next question.

"The neck... w-wouldn't that m-make it hard for s-someone to b-breathe?" he asked. "And h-hard to look around. Umm. S-same with the st-stomach, I think. There's l-lots of important organs there, t-too." He paused and considered the shoulder. "You j-just said what the sh-shoulder does, s-sir. Throwing and d-dislocation."

Kuyoja nodded his head in approval, the child had been paying attention and that's what he liked to see in his pupils.

"Very good. you are correct, striking at the neck often disables your opponent for a short period of time, though if done inproperly you could damage important vitals and they wouldn't be able to breath...thus resulting in death." He continued before he went on tio explain the downfalls as well benifits to striking other areas.

"Now, baised on your records you don't have much experience in melee do you?" He asked reconfirming as he took off his glasses and used the corner of his shirt to clean a smudge off of it.

Pleased he'd gotten something right finally, Anoki nodded rapidly. The nodding slowed as he listened, and turned into a wince. He'd have to be really really careful then. He definitely didn't want to kill someone by accident.

When the next question came, he was a bit more prepared... but it was a very simple one. "N-no, sir," he replied uneasily. "N-nothing, really."

Kuyoja looked at Anoki with a studious glance before he put his glasses back on his face and then h nodded his head slightly.

"Then we will treat this class as a clean slate," He started as he then moved around the manaquin he had set up and then gathered it up to move itout of the way.

"Now we shall first learn moving positions. How to position your feet and your arms so you can pivot and gain the most advantages in strength and speed." He continued as he came back and shifted around some of the matts on the floor.

"Come here and I will show you an example of some of the basic ways to stand." He ordered as he then setteled into his most familar battle stance. legs spread apart most of his weight was on the balls of his feet knee's bent his arms close to his body much like a boxer may.

"try and mimick me."

Relieved that the teacher didn't hold his lack of experience against him, Anoki untensed ever so slightly. "Yes, sir!"

He didn't stay relaxed for long, however, and as soon as Kuyoja was in position, he moved closer. Before he tried to copy the stance, he observed for several moments, walking all the way around the teacher to see what he looked like from different angles.

That didn't look too hard. Arms close to the body was easy enough. Legs apart, check. Knees bent, check. Then he tried to shift his weight to the balls of his feet, and almost overbalanced. While he didn't fall, he lost the position and quickly scrambled to try and get back into it, though his haste made him sloppier the second time around.

Kuyoja didn't scold the boy for stumbeling, it was natural that it would be a bit awkward to do if this was new to him. He remained in the postiion only to shift out of it slowly as he walked over to Anoki.

"Here, I will aid you in your balance. Try to not lean too much forward when you put weight on the balls of your feet, it will unbalance you." He didn't sound mad or annoyed more ...matter of fact.

"get back into the position and I will hold onto your shoulder until you think you can hold the position." He offered.
