It had been a while since she had crossed the borders with Gobo, since she had joined the ranks of the pride and Gobo had taken his place as a slave. She could never think of him as that creature, a slave to her, he most certainly was not but he acted like one around the others.
Occasionally they would meet up away from prying eyes and she would groom her friend, hug him and nuzzle him and remind him that he could leave if he wanted to. Today was one of those days.

He lay quietly in the undergrowth awaiting his little charge, she had grown much since joining the pride, well, not really, she was still so dainty, she always reminded him of a cub still so slight was her body and so petite were her features.
He had loved her as a daughter and still watched over her al the time, keeping his dark chocolate gaze fixed on her when ever he was called upon.
He had happily joined the pride knowing what his position would be with in it. He didn't care, he still considered himself responsible for Galanthus and that was an important thing to be responsible for.

The little blue lioness smiled as she saw the chocolate brown klipspringer, she giggled happily and pounced him ever so gently. Despite being very small, she had finally outgrown her klippy companion and she knew she could hurt him.
"Hey Gobo." she purred as she wrestled gently with him for a moment before she snuggled up next to him like she used to. She felt for a moment like a cub again, alone in the big wide world just her and Gobo. Only this wasn't the truth, she loved her pride and was proud to be a part of it even if she could no longer spend every waking moment with her guardian klippy.

Gobo smiled serenely as he spotted the blurringly bright blue ball of fluff. he was just about to give a greeting when she bounced him. He nudged her gently pushing her off his back. She was still so delicate, it upset him a little that she wasn't able to full fill her dreams, but on the other side of it, at least she was safe being a mzazi, caring for cubs was a far easier and more secure profession.

The little lioness smiled gently to her father figure, glad to be curled up next to him before she spoke. "Gobo, you know you can leave any time you want don't you? You know I'm an adol now, I can care for myself, I have a job and everything." She tilts her head gently, she hated to think that Gobo wasn't happy and she knew he missed his mate, yet, he never left her, he always stayed, she silently thanked him for it but she wanted to make sure he still wanted to be at her side.

Gobo looked to the small lioness and gave a sigh, half of him did want to go but the other half kept him rooted here, protecting his little charge. "Not yet Galanthus, you're still far too young to not have me watching you." He chuckled. "What would you do if you got in trouble hmm?" He raised a curious brow and smiled nudging the little lioness playfully.

Galantus pouted a little, she wondered if she would ever be old enough for Gobo not to think she was too young? She had responsibilities now, she cared for cubs for crying out loud! She wasn't a baby any more. "You know I'm not a little kid any more Gobo, I can look after myself now, and besides I have the whole pride here to help me."

Gobo chuckled in a very knowing fashion smiling at his adoptive daughter. "I know you're older now Galanthus, but that doesn't mean you are grown up just yet." He whispers, wishing he could explain better what he meant.
"I will stay until I think you no longer need me Galanthus."

When she no longer needed him? That was a phrase she could certainly ponder on. When was this fabled time when she would no longer require his assistance? She couldn't think of one, she would always want Gobo to be there in truth, but she also didn't want him to be a slave for the rest of his life.
It was a conundrum. "Maybe I don't need you any more gobo?" She raised a brow and looked at him her soft icy blue eyes fixed on the big male klippy.

Gobo looked at the little lioness in silence, he quietly looked her over, looking at her slender delicate frame, he could still see her being attacked and killed easily, a large wilder beast would certainly be the end to her, yet, she was not a huntress, she was a nanny, she cared for cubs, she was out of the way of most, if not all harm.
"Not yet." he smiled serenely, he knew she was only saying these things, she still needed him, though the day would come when she did not and he would join his mate in the safe valley.

Maybe he was right, maybe she was not ready for him to leave her yet, but she could pretend, for a moment like she was. "Okay, but one day you will have to leave me Gobo." She huffed nesting in to the big klispringer and closing her icy blue eyes gently.
She sort of hoped she would always need gobo, she didn't want to let him go but she knew she should, in a way, he really was ehr slave, he was tied to her and that made her feel guilty, but she wanted to keep him beside her, for now at least.

Gobo chuckled, he wasn't sure when that day would come either. "I know Galanthus, but it isn't today, have a sleep now I'll keep watch." He smiled and nuzzled the little lioness as a father would a daughter.
One day he would leave and he would miss her above all others in this world.

The little lioness yawned and stretched out along side the klispringer nestling in to his fur and giving a gentle sigh. "Okay but I can't sleep for long i have to get back to work." She purrs allowing her eyes to close and for sleep to engulf her delicate body.
