He wondered if people would come.
Blowing some of his hair out of his eyes, the god of love surveyed his domain one more time. Nayeli couldn't quite remember how many people he'd invited, just that he and Ilsa had had quite a time with all the envelopes, and then there had been the decorating and his poor Ilsa was very sleepy. With a sly look at the girl, he snapped his fingers to put up the last few decorations.
(Being a god rocked.)
The pumpkins flew into the air and levitated, glowing with a flickering red light from within. Since Soma had put his foot down on the live band idea, these pumpkins also exuded music, which woke up the blond girl snoozing in one of the many throne-like chairs. Because the party started so long after dinner, there was a small table of snacks and they organized themselves to the godling's satisfaction.
(Yes, it definitely rocked. Like granite. Nayeli felt quite clever.)
Jumping down the last few steps, he swept a stunned Ilsa out of her chair and spun about. When he set her down and kissed her cheek, the girl gave him an irritated look. "It'll be wonderful, don't you worry," said the god confidently. "And you look fabulous." Her curls glimmered in the red light, and her eyes- a pale, colorless sort of blue- seemed to say Are you serious? He only laughed.
Nayeli himself looked pretty fabulous- all dressed in tight clothing, well-tailored of course, he was clearly a rock star. Even the stars in his hair had followed the theme, turning black and spiky. Next to Ilsa, who was his groupie, he looked exactly like what he was- a god. "Doors are open, Ilsa," he said cheerfully, patting her shoulder. "People should be here soon!..."
He couldn't wait!

"Please hold still for one moment longer, I've got to snap the last of the buttons in place. Try to not breathe too since your stomach is poking out and I can't get everything fastened together."
A young woman dressed in rich white robes stood behind a figure, popping a few buttons into place before she grabbed two loose strings that hung down with her index fingers on both hands. With a swift tug she pulled them tight, causing the figure in front of her to lurch, gasp, and swear simultaneously. A glare was shot over a crystal white shoulders in her general direction, and Hinalle merely ignored it with a smile as she finished the lacing.
"There, all set. Are you still able to breathe somewhat?"
"Considering I didn't have the need to breathe in the first place I see that question as a bit redundant. And to answer it - no; at least not properly anyway."
Soma grunted and shifted his arms up and down to test the feeling of the corset, wondering why the hell he was even in a corset, but since this was a party that was being thrown that he didn't have to set up he didn't ask many questions. It was good every now and then to be the one doing all the slacking and not having to panic over little odds and ends here.
"Are you done with the torture, cause I need to go see if Nayeli has yet to somehow burn down the house. As odd as that sounds and impossible as well I'm sure he'd find a way if he could."
The young woman with him nodded and gave his bare shoulder one last tap as Soma took a few shaky steps in his stilettos towards the door that would lead out of his dressing room and the events down the hall. It wasn't so hard to make his way around, these shoes were nothing, but he had to admit that if the thong he was wearing wore up all night he'd melt all of the ones that existed on Earth.
For the just cause of it all.

((*randomly intrudes*))
Peering in through the doorway to the illustrious room stood a young woman with, oddly enough, a large, elegant bird cradled in the nook of her arm. The paper her masked eyes were glued to was revealed to be a map under one of the lit pumpkins, the constant flick of her eyes evident that she had no idea if she was in the right place.
The crane, however, gave the room a quick glance before lightly ruffling her white feathers, pleased at the decorations. Celeste arched her head, the side of her beak pressed against her human's face. She was still new to the concept of communicating with humans, however Celeste sent her a feeling of assured confidence, images of a straight back and head held high. Perhaps it wasn't as sympathetic as a feeling of comfort would have been, but in her own way, it was her attempt to comfort.
Celeste hadn't been able to visit the lovely blue gem of a fish before having set forward to some sort of party (her human had reasoned that if she was too old to get free candy from the neighbours, then she would find other ways to get it) so she could only fret and worry on leaving her alone for the eve. Of course, she secretly hoped that some how the fish could join her, but Celeste shook her head and settled such thoughts.
For now, she wanted to take the experience and learn as much as she could, weaving tales of her own and to bring it back with her. When Celeste realized her human hadn't moved yet, she gave a short huff and gave a little wiggle to show her impatience.
Resigned, Mist shook her head and peered in once again, "Hello?"

((*intrudes as well* I hope I do this right. *awkward* ))
Ravina sat just outside the ornate doorway that led into where the Halloween party was being held. She wasn't dawdling, just fixing the greaves that she, in a rush to physically get here, had thrown on. Both detailed metal plates had come loose in the straps and she was just retying them before making an entrance to the party.
Her costume was one that she had been longing to wear out; a vanguard outfit. Pretty much a fancy knight with some creative touches done by Ravina herself. Included in her armor-wear were arm guards that went from wrist to above the elbow and spaulders as well. She had considered a breastplate, but decided against it. One must know when to stop adding armor lest they risk looking like the Tinman. Her weapon of choice was a rapier with an elegantly crafted hilt. It rested innocently in its sheath on her left hip, knowing it wouldn't be drawn this evening.
The rest of her costume was ordinary; pants, shirt, fingerless gloves, knee high boots, and a long cream colored scarf draped over her breast and held in place beneath the spaulders. After a moment she was satisfied with the tautness of the greave straps and stood, dusting her backside off before stepping gingerly through the doorway.
"Good evening...?"

[hooray intrusion!!]
The first greeting and Nayeli had already sprung into action, bounding down to kiss the crane smack on the nose. "Hello, wing-sister," he crowed, delighted to see one of his Galateans here already. "And you too, Mist. Do you mind if I call you Mist? My name's Nayeli, of course, and the pretty blond girl over there is my Ilsa, and--" Then he was distracted by the arrival of another person. Celeste and her human guardian forgotten, he leapt off to greet Ravina with a kiss on each cheek. "Such a creative costume," he gushed, fully unaware of how embarrassing he was being. Repeating much the same greeting to the woman, he missed the entry of another guest, this time a young woman dressed up as Death. Nayeli probably would not have much liked Huian anyway; the girl went straight to the food bar, ignoring Sumi's loud mental cries out to the crane.
"Good evening," called the ink blot, splashing against the side of his container. "Good evening, wind-sister!"
Meanwhile, little Ilsa had turned to watch Soma walk through the doors. She looked quite ridiculous- the girl was used to seeing her idol, the eldest god, look rather unkempt that it was strange to see a Victorian noblewoman. The blond bowed, golden curls tumbling over one shoulder like coins from cupped hands.

Mist and Celeste swirled around, feeling much like the victims of a hit and run. The decidedly more human of the duo adjusted her mask and inched towards the food table herself, the temptation of sweets being too great a pull to ignore. Celeste found herself gingerly set on the ground so that she might explore the place. She wasn't one for staying in one place for too long, a fact of which Mist had learned fairly quickly. The poor window.
Piqued at the strange container of black liquid, Celeste glided across the floor towards it, sending waves of an inquiring feeling. How she wished to be able to form words with the lips of a human! It would be so much more convenient that way. Not one to appear a failure, however, Celeste set her mind to communicating with the little wet blob. She projected several images of pumpkins and outrageous costumes (with a slight pause, then the addition of a frilly gown and bobbing blonde curls). Mist hadn't quite explained Halloween, and Celeste was brimming with curiosity over this unique custom.

((*joins the intrusion*))
Muse studied the glittering opulence around her and small smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. The floating, singing pumpkins were quite marvelous and the snacks set out for guests were like treasures, almost too good to eat.
She was dressed in a gauzy white gown that coiled and wrapped around her form in loose, elegant curves. In some places the gown parted, showing creamy, pale flesh beneath. Her near-white hair was loose about her shoulders, glittering coils of gold ribbon and strands of pearls gleaming through the pale locks. Muse had carefully painted her face completely white and then added swirling strokes of gold and silver. The glittering paint wound over her face dreamily.
In her arms was a large clear bowl filled with water. Naida spun within the small confines, her fins breaking through the water to create little splashes. Her excitement was palpable.
“Ah,” Muse said, “Hello all.” She gave a small wave with one hand as her arms stayed wrapped around the bowl. Within the water, Naida waved one fin cheerfully.

(( *Intrudes as well* ))
If all went according to plan, Raizen should still be at home sleeping. Drugging his beloved seemed like a stretch, but they were both worn thin with work, and Rai NEEDED rest. However, if he managed to dodge the drugged milk, seeing it for what it was, Dragon wouldn't be surprised to see him here any moment. A soft chuckle escaped his lips, as he pulled at the suit and tie he was wearing. Such a formal occasion! He never usually went to parties... but this one had seemed the lesser of two evils for the evening. And what's more... promised to be educating, as to the tree that had started following him around. He stepped into the brightly lit hall, and marveled at both the size of the place, and the architecture. It was gigantic and beautiful - took Dragon's breath quite away, and replaced it with are. The tree, too [whom Dragon had begun referring to as "Leafy"] was fascinated by such splendor. Not quite adept at sending the thought-pictures yet, he was mainly focused on the odd things spread around at every opportunity. The orange things with lights. Laughing, Dragon told him they were jack-o-lanterns, and quickly explained the holiday. 'Leafy' had taken quite a liking the the young intern, and Dragon to him. What's more, they seemed to understand each other. Seeing the buffet table in the corner of the room, and the huge sprawling decorations and space, Draco was a little overwhelmed to say the least. He found himself sort of wishing Rai was there, and from the tree's thought-picture of a small blob of shifting color, he figured that Leafy wanted company as well.
"H...hello?" he asked, timidly. "I'm here... because I was invited? I apologize for not dressing up... I...."

( TO THOSE ENTERING, PLEASE NOTE THAT SOMA HAS NO SET GENDER AND CAN APPEAR AS EITHER ONE TO YOUR PEOPLE. SO WHILE YOUR HUMAN MAY SEE A WOMAN, YOUR GALATEAN MAY SEE A MAN, OR YOU BOTH SEE THE SAME THING )
Ugh. Already there were throngs of people making their way around the room, many of them carrying an 'essence' that seemed to call out to her with their very beings despite them not making any sound at all. These Gods had made these creatures - they could feel them no matter what was going on - and she counted them up in her head.
Crane. Willow. Ink.
Crap, Ink meant that somehow or anything that really annoying human girl, the one who fancied herself a little too much for Soma's taste, was here. Not that it mattered, she has seniority here even if it was her little brother's party, and she could banish the kid back to wherever she wanted...should she want to. Her thoughts of various types of revenge was interruppted when a voice came over her ears all timid and weak, the type of thing that meant someone without a spine had come in.
"Yes, yes, you're more than welcome here. There's not need to apologize or act so formal - this is a party."
Soma had made her way over and stopped in front of the man, this "Dragon", wondering what his reaction to her would be. Would he see a woman dressed in a fine outfit, or would he see a man with questionable tastes? Sometimes this was the fun part.

Sumi had a resounding mental laugh that would completely betray his male gender to anyone. "The humans dress up and become monsters," he explained seriously, forming a smile in the reflections off his surface. "That's how I understand it, anyway." The barrage of outrageous costumes was reflected back with images from his human guardian's family party, which had been in full swing and full of drunkards by the time Huian had left. "My name's Sumi. What's your family name?--" Distracted for a moment, he called out greetings to the newer arrivals. "Fin-sister! Root-brother! Good evening!"
After a moment, Ilsa tore her gaze away from Soma and tripped over to Muse (she barely avoided being bowled over by Nayeli as he breezed past, greeting the fish and her human guardian cheerfully with all accordant niceties; for Nayeli, this meant complimenting Muse on her costume and Naida on her scales). She smoothed her curls out of her eyes and smiled up at the woman and her fish, quite angelically making it known that she was happy to see them, before signing: Do you speak sign language?
Nayeli threw his arms around Soma and Dragon all at once, perhaps utilizing godly powers to do so because they were standing rather far apart. "Soma's got Halloween spirit," he cried with delight, because he saw the older god as a male. "And you look dapper, Dragon, it's really good to see you I totally didn't think you'd come! And you too, Willow! Hey, hey, do you have another name? Seriously, I can't call you Willow all the time-" Getting the impression from a dagger-glare (from his lovely Ilsa, he thought happily) that he should spread the love, the god buzzed back over to Ravina.
"Sorry 'bout that," he said earnestly. "Just excited, y'know? It's the first time I've been allowed to have a party. Don't you think it's turning out splendidly?"

Ravina hadn't much time to react to Nayeli's display of hospitality more than just an expression of sheer loss in translation and a small 'thank you' that ended with a question mark before the god had trounced off to greet others.
"Okay..." She considered moving but in a flash Nayeli was back again. Ravina gave a sheepish smile before shaking her head at him. "No trouble at all and yes, it came out looking quite lovely."
She noted mentally that the god was full of energy this evening, of course first time things always amounted to a lot of excitement for the person experiencing it. She also wondered how many were to arrive for the event. It appeared a good deal had arrived already, though by the looks of the room they were all gathered in, more could easily fit comfortably.
"How many do you think will arrive? This place looks like it could hold quite a large number of people."

Once it was clear that this was NOT such a formal occasion, Dragon lightened up considerably. The tension in his body dropped, and he sighed, almost as if shaking off stress. Willow crept out from under one of his sleeves, and swirled happily around Soma - whom he saw as a rather fine male with... eccentric taste in clothing. He fired random thought-pictures. Sun. Moon. Tree. Ink. Blood. Questionmark? Exclamation! Dragon's face. Lots of little hearts. When asked the question, the Willow paused, and flashed another image series. Leaf. Baby leaf. Dragon's handwriting 'Leafy'. Dragon saw a woman decked in finery. A beautiful woman at that. Well - in that case, he didn't have to worry about straying from Rai's side. After all - he was of a mind to have his desires turn toward men. So while Soma was pretty, yes - he didn't make any move to treat her in any sexual manner at all. But - he also seemed to no longer be timid.
"Thank goodness. Here I was thinking I was showing up to some formal ball, looking like a teen on their first date. WITHOUT a date, I might add. Yet. Raizen's still asleep at home."
He neglected to mention he drugged his lover, or that they WERE lovers. About to say something along those lines, he was then essentially tackled in greeting by another man, and then left completely alone. That had been... strange, to say the least. And when Dragon looked back up to ask Soma about it, he saw a man with a fetching [if a little revealing] outfit on. A blink, and that was gone. Okay - so was he tired from work? Or were there really two people before him? .... Nah - his imagination was playing tricks on him.

"Leafy?" Sumi's polite puzzlement was evident. "Surely that's not your only name..." Then the full impact of every picture that the willow Galatean had sent hit him, like a truck hitting a small animal. "You know her?" He lost his coherency, instead sending strange, strangled emotions and images- bloodbloodbloodbeautygonealonealonealonefear---
They stopped as quickly as they started. "Forgive. I am..." Sumi fell silent. He was at quite the loss for words now.
The pale blue eyes danced and Nayeli laughed, clapping his hands with delight. "Soma wouldn't let me invite a mortal band. Or even an immortal band." For a moment, he pouted, but just as quickly the smile came bright as before. It was like turning on a light in a darkened room- rather blinding, yet you didn't really want it to go away. "And I don't know. Hopefully lots! I want to have everyone meet each other! Every one!" He threw both arms in the air, disregarding the fact that his leather jacket was so tailored it protested at the action. "Are you hungry? Snacks are right over there."

"Aw, really?" She sounded disappointed at that fact. Bands were always fun, but once Nayeli started beaming again Ravina had to smile as well. His good humor was infectious.
"Be careful of your jacket, it doesn't seem to like it when you toss your arms up like that." Ravina had to point that out, the stitching in the jacket seemed to strain against the pull it was enduring. At the question she shook her head, she had eaten before leaving her home, but she was a tad thirsty. "Just thirsty. But I'll survive for the time being."
Her head turned around to survey the decorations. So impressive. It must have taken quite awhile to put them all up and make sure everything was perfect for the evening. "It must have taken you ages to get this place all ready. Everything looks amazing, I can't imagine how long it took."

Muse was suddenly quite overwhelmed. She had been exuberantly greeted by a spiky haired rock star and couldn’t get out a reply, even a ‘thank you’ for complimenting her outfit, before he was dashing off to greet the other guests.
“He complimented you on your scales, did you hear that?” she asked Naida. The little blue fish splashed around in a circle and waved her fins happily. Muse grinned.
Then she spotted the elegant gentlemen in the daring clothes and had a moment to consider that he wore his heels better than she herself did. With a rueful smile Muse turned and saw a young, lovely blond woman standing in front of her with a positively radiant smile on her face. She watched as the woman’s hands danced together in sign. Muse was thrilled. She nodded enthusiastically to Ilsa and then looked down at Naida and said, “I’m going to set you down, alright?”
The fish swam in a swift circle to indicate acquiescence. Muse set the bowl down on one of the tables stacked with food and turned back to Ilsa.
Her hands moved together; It’s wonderful to meet another who can sign. Go slow for me, it’s been a while.
Naida looked around. Though the bowl was barely big enough to allow her to swim in a circle, she loved it; it allowed her to leave the lake. When she saw Mist and Celeste she called out.
“My crane!”
