Bai-Shén was very deeply considering closing the shop for the night. It was chilly and dark and the roads emanated the feel of approaching Halloween. The spirits in the shop, though, begged her to stay. Just a little while longer, they goaded. It'll be worth it!

There was no arguing the point; Kityas was lost. Normally, her feet could find their way back to her comfy Durem apartment on their own when she was out wandering, but her sense of direction seemed to have entirely vanished. The more she walked, the stranger and darker the streets got. Even stranger was the fact that there didn't seem to be anyone on the streets tonight. Normally, all the roads in Gaia were packed with people going about their business, but they seemed to have all taken a holiday tonight. It was eerie.
It seemed her feet did have a destination in mind, after all; at length, she wandered her way to a storefront. On display inside, there were all kinds of paintings, collages, sculptures and other art pieces. In the deepening twilight, Kityas stared on in wonder.

Bai-Shén smiled softly when she saw the girl approach. Worth it? Indeed. She scuttled to the door and held it open.
"Come in, come in! It's nice and warm in here. You must be freezing!"

Kityas backed away from the window she was fogging, and smiled at the eager shopkeep. "Yes, I think I will come in for a bit." Kityas subtly checked to see if she had remembered her wallet. Her new apartment could use some small, bright painting or other to perk it up a little.

Once the woman was inside, Bai-Shén giggled and shuffled into the back room. Hrm...where was she going?

Kityas hesitated a moment before choosing a wall to follow, indecisive. She picked the one closest to the door - not because it seemed to have the best art - all walls and shelves seemed to be full of equally wondrous creations - but simply because it was closest. She took her time, strolling along, and completed a circuit around the shop about three times, before coming to a halt in front of an impressionist depiction of a starlit night, with swirling clouds and patchwork landscape gently surrounding a tiny town...
"I think," she said slowly, "I would like this one." She nodded, and repeated, almost to herself, "Yes. Most definitely."
