Cassian was in a foul mood. A very foul mood.

He’d just gotten into a scrape with a pair of disgusting rogues and now he was trying to find his way back to Ilena – which was proving an extremely difficult task as he couldn’t pick up her scent. He was sure he’d left her somewhere around here but there was no sign of her whatsoever.

He growled and paused to roll his shoulders. They ached from his recent attack and though he couldn’t see, he was sure there were pinpricks of blood there, marring his vibrant pelt.

“Bloody fools. I’ll get ‘em next time.” He wrinkled his snout and shook his mane before continuing. He recognised this place but again, no Ilena anywhere. Had he remembered wrong? His eyesight was poor and couldn’t be trusted but he was sure he’d seen that crooked tree before.

He cleared his throat and lifted his maw to call out to her. “Ilena? Ilena! Where are you?” Damn that girl. He was getting hungry and he would stay that way until she hunted for him.

Koka had managed to break away from Hakan for the moment. She didn't mind the company the larger lion gave her but there were times she was more-than-happy to be on her own. As it turned out, it seemed that this moment of aloneness would prove fruitful as a very obvious male voice ran out over the tall grasses.

“Ilena? Ilena! Where are you?”

With a smirk, Koka instinctively lowered herself to the ground. As if stalking her prey the assassin moved through the grass as stealthily as was expected of a mistress of the hunt. Koka knew what she was doing, and her eyes glittered with anticipation. With all the noise the damn boy was making Koka had no issue finding the foolish youth.

As she creeped up on the male, Koka began to feel a sense of....pity. A rare emotion for her, but with the way this game of cat and mouse was going it was going to end quite quickly and Koka wanted to enjoy it to it's full capacity. So, deciding to change up her usual game, the ebony hued killer rose to her full height, (which is actually quite smaller than most Firekin lionesses) and moved up on the male.

"If I were you, cub, I'd be more worried about myself." She smirked. She stood tall and strong as she watched the fool youth's movements. Her muscles were just aching to spring forth and sink her claws into that pale hide of his, but for now, she'd play the game.

And for the second time that day Cassian was taken unawares.

He whipped around to face the female with a vicious growl in his throat. He had no restraint. His temper was fiery and too easily unleashed. Already he felt himself grasping at his anger, using it to fuel him. Yet, as he set eyes on the black female - who had so skillfully crept up on him - he faltered.

His muzzle retained its snarl but the growl died in his mouth. "Who the hell are yah calling a cub!?" He snapped - clearly overreacting but clearly rather rattled by her sudden appearance. Twice in one day? What were the odds of that happening?

He cursed his poor eyesight. Then he cursed Ilena for creeping off. Where had she gotten too?

"You think I'm afraid of you, girl? I just got back from beating up some stupid old rogues. You're no different from them, right?" He took a small step forwards.

He was a small male, built wide and stocky. He was clearly going to be a slow mover, though he was built with a good defense. He'd take a few hits before going down. However, he lacked experience of battle, he was tired from his previous ordeal and he also had the disadvantage of underestimating his foe.

Poor Cass.

He snorted. "So get out of my damn face."

Koka couldn't help but laugh. "I am far superior than a 'couple of old rogues.'" Koka quickly evaluated the youth's appearance and movements. Slow but strong. Similar to Hakan it appeared, but this youth was much more clumsy looking than Hakan was. She had to give her companion some credit, he knew how to fight. This cub, looked like he may be good in a petty childhood scrap and that was it.

"So get out of my damn face."

"Oh, I think not. It's not anywhere near as much fun that way. So, let's play the game of cat and mouse." She began to circle him slowly, eyes never leaving him. "I'll play the cat, and you...play the mouse." And with that she launched herself at him. Claws extended to their deadliest point, ready to rip the flesh from the youth's body.

Her evaluaton was right.

Cassian was a barbaric type of lion. He liked to shoot his mouth off but really he had no idea to back himself up with actions. He could talk big but that was about it.

He was about to find himself well out of his league.

"Don't make me laugh." He snapped, pausing as she continued to speak. Something about games? Cat and...mouse? What was she blabbering on about? Was she mad? Was he mad for provoking her? Well...probably, but he was never one to consider that he could actually get himself killed because of it.

"Woah!" A string of curses leapt from his mouth as she pounced at him. She was fast, too fast. Much faster than those other two. Fear, finally, slithered into his thoughts and in those few moments he could think of nothing to do but rear up to meet her. That was a mistake, however, because her momentum was strong enough that he lost his balance.

Now...he was tipping backwards, clawing at the air in a desperate attempt to land a fierce blow or...somehow prevent his fall.

Koka felt the full impact of the youth trying to stop her. Sadly for Cassian it was far from falling in his favor. Sheer momentum aided her in disrupting the cub's balance and, after landing on her own four paws, watched a moment to see the youth teeter uncontrollably, but only a moment. In an instant, Koka rounded on him again, this time hitting him from the back pushing him away from falling backwards but certainly towards a much more powerful and painful landing.

She laughed with glee as she practically bounced away from him again. "You're not very good at playing the mouse I must admit. Usually I get some kind of resistence. You're making it far too easy on me." She laughed again as she took the time to circle around her prey. Eyeing him up and wondering which way would be the most pleasing to kill him. There were so many horrid and gory ways to land a killing blow and Koka wanted to make sure she picked just the right one. Not to mention she felt it only fair to give the obvious underdog a small chance at retaliation. If the youth decided to stay there then, in Koka's eyes, the youth was forfeiting his life and she'd gladly end it for him now.

The shove from behind had Cassian shoved forward into the ground. He landed hard on his chest, gasping with pain as his jaw struck a hefty blow against the uneven ground.

Anger flared again and he was suddenly aware that he was being toyed with. This female clearly knew what she was doing and unlike the other rogues he had run away from, she meant to kill him. Why, he wasn't sure. Was she just eager for blood? Did she want to wear his beautiful pelt as some sort of gruesome trophy?

He drew himself to his paws and shook his head. A little blood seeped from between his front teeth from the fall. "Then how about we switch roles?" He snarled and with a jerking movement, he leapt for her, reaching out to swipe her with a paw.

Hell, if it got nasty he could always run away.

He didn't consider that Koka may very well chase him down and kill him, even if he did turn tail and flee.

The sound of battle had roused him.

What, he thought with a smirk, has Koka gotten herself into now?

Hakan trudged in the direction of the noise. There was no concern in his face, no rushing. He knew that Koka was completely capable of taking care of herself and he knew that it was probably she who had started it. He wondered what poor sod was in a fight with her and sympathised greatly.

He'd suffered her anger himself.

He slowed as the sound grew louder and peered through a break in the undergrowth. A stretch of open land expanded out for many lengths and in the open were the pair of fighters.

He snorted and settled himself to watch a moment.

Why not let her have her fun for a while? He'd only intervene if it went too far.

Koka laughed and side stepped the swipe. "Try as you might, but I doubt you'd be able to switch roles with -me-." She circled him again, enjoying the rage she was pulling out of the youth. Maybe if she managed to really get him ticked off he'd give her some sort of a challenge.

A movement to her left caused Koka to stop for a moment, unsure if it was maybe a friend of the rogues but a quick flicker of her eyes assured her it was merely Hakan who had apparently settled in to watch. She twitched her tail in slight annoyance. The lug better stay there because she wasn't about to let him ruin her fun.

Circling upon Cassian again, Koka stopped at his backside once again and lept, this time, her teeth aimed for his tail. She was curious on what the cub would do if she was attached to him. Oh, how she loved these games! She could do this day in and day out. Sadly, she never always found a fun little rogue like this all the time.

"We'll see about that, yeah?" He hissed, setting himself on his paws as she dodged the swipe. He turned his head to follow her, intent on keeping her from getting too close again.

He did not notice the other figure close by. He could only see Koka, only hear the sound of his rapid heartbeat.

She was circling again, then again she was hurtling herself at him. She was too fast. Cassian couldn't evade the attack completely. He tried to swing around to meet her teeth with lashing claws but failed. Her teeth sank into his flank and pain seared throug him.

He roared in agony as he tore himself away, blond with fury and pain, he launched himself at her, claws at the ready, teeth bared.

Poor boy. Hakan thought to himself. He didn't have a chance. He could see it clearly. The boy was acting on his rage, there was no wisdom in his flailing, angry moves. Koka was luring him to his death and now he was injured.

It wouldn't be long now.

He flicked his tail thoughtfully but still made no move to interrupt this little 'dance'. Besides, Koka knew he was there, perhaps that would prevent her from taking things too far.

Though he didn't trust that judgement at all.

Well, it appeared the cub wasn't -as- slow as she had thought, but still he wasn't a match for her. With her mark missed, but the injury made, Koka moved away from the cub again, enjoying her little game of cat and mouse. The ebony femme was practically prancing as she purposefully made a point to have her back to the cub before turning around to face. Ah, the fun in teasing! She began to wonder though how long it would be until the youngster decided he had enough and attempt to run with his tail between his legs. Surely he wasn't so much of a fool as to think he still stood a chance.

And he lunged again.

...guess he is that much of a fool.

Deciding to give the cub some false hope, Koka stood there, waiting for those young claws and teeth to bare down on her. A twitch of her tail and Koka rushed forward and dropped to her stomach, letting the cub practically 'sail' over top of her. Once again the femme practically pranced away from the cub, laughing jovially at the fun she was having.

Sparing Hakan a glance Koka gave the male a suspicious glare. She wasn't quite sure why he'd find the pleasure in just sitting there and watching. Maybe he was planning on taking her 'prey' away from her. Eyes darted back to the rogue cub. There was no way she was going to allow -that- to happen. She'd kill him before Hakan could.

Deciding that the little game of cat and mouse was over now, Koka's whole body posture shifted. Eyes gazed hard at the cub in front of her as if he were a mere antelope chosen to be her next meal. Killing the young rogue wouldn't be any issue. One good swift swipe and a clamped jaw on his throat would do him in nicely, but that would give Hakan time to steal the cub from her. No, she'd have to be a bit more...inventive.

Licking her maw, Koka's muscles tensed as she readied herself, and just at the right moment, the lioness launched herself at the cub, claws and teeth ready to sink into the young cubs flesh and tear him to pieces for without a jugular, the cub would have no way of living.

He was going to take her down! This was it! The sound of victory roared in his ears. His claws outstretched and he shook with anticipation. He had her in his grasp now!

And suddenly she was gone, ducked away from his grasp!

No! Dammit, no!

He flew past her, landing hard on the ground, knocking the breath from his lungs and found himself momentarily unable to move. Fatige swamped his tense muscles and in a moment of panic he lifted his head to glance back at the lioness.

She was preparing to jump.

Preparing to kill him!!

And he could do nothing but lay there, weakly attempting to roll himself away, but knowing she'd be faster. Knowing it was over.

"Illena..."

Hakan met Koka's glance with an amused sparkle in his eye. She certainly was enjoying herself there with that poor lad. And he...well...he looked as if he had suddenly realised he'd picked a fight with the wrong person.

He had...

Silly kid, did he really think he had a chance fighting someone as swift and skilled as she? He'd clearly not been in a proper fight before. Clearly had no training in the way he'd erratically swiped out at her and misjumped at the last moment.

In Koka's glance, Hakan saw that note of finality. She was going to end it.

No time to waste. He had to stop this now, else that kid would lose his life to her. He was a warrior. He had killed before now. But he wasn't like Koka in that way. Sometimes his conscience would come back to bite him and he knew this would be one of those occasions.

He leapt from his watching point, moving as fast as his bulk would allow, intent on putting himself between the kid and Koka. He'd probably take the hefty blow instead but hell, what was one more scar?

With a rumbling roar, he leapt between them, hoping he hadn't been too late.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 14, 2008 8:32 am

Koka leapt mere seconds after Hakan launched himself to intercept her, and as expected, Hakan took the full force of her attack. In all respects, she probably could have diverted her attack but she wanted far too much to sink her claws into -something- and as it turned out that something just happened to be Hakan instead of the naive cub.

Growling in frustration Koka lept away from Hakan. "What is wrong with you!" She growled out, eyes glaring death at the larger lion in front of her. "I'd never think you'd save that worthless cub." Flicking her tail she stared down Hakan, her eyes only shifting momentarily to the cub cowering behind the grey brute's bulk.

Deciding to see how far this cubs pride ran, Koka raised her head and smirked. "Are you going to allow Hakan here to save you? Are you going to cower behind him like a frightened cub?" Her eyes bore into Cassians as she dared him to step away from Hakan. Koka knew that getting around her traveling companion and landing a deadly blow on the cub would be a near impossible feat, not with Hakan acting as a shield himself. ARGH, that just frustrated her more! Why did she land herself such an idiotic and noble companion? It was just her luck.

He closed his eyes, knowing that the pain would soon come. That his life would drain away. He'd never get to tell Illena the truth about him. He'd never get to find the God who could fix his eyes. He could never proove himself. Never...

Wait, shouldn't the pain should have come by now?

He opened his eyes, finding his vision filled with the pelt of a lion. A huge male lion. He'd seemingly jumped between him and the vicious female. Why would he do that? Was he hurt?

Confusion filled him, but it was momentarily faded by the female's words. He was clearly not saved as of yet. If the male stepped back she'd be on him again in an instant.

He hated to do it, but he knew if he stayed he'd be killed.

He didn't answer. Instead, he forced the pain of his injuries away and fled as fast as he could.

"Come now, Koka. Did you really think I wanted you to end the life of that poor little kid? That just isn't my style."

He waited for Cassian's response and smiled as he heard him take off, clearly using his head for the first time since the fight had begun. "Besides, I thought you liked a challenge? Killing him would have been like killing a defencless cub."

He smiled despite the fact that blood from fresh wounds now trembled down his shoulder and side. "You put on a good show, though, I must say." And then the pain of his new wounds finally seemed to reach his brain and he shook his head, wincing.

"Damn, I forgot how sharp your claws were."
