Okay, I stopped by the local funshop before coming home from Walmart. And boy, every time I go in there, I leave wanting something else!
Now I'm wondering if the price is worth it. He is selling a NEVER FIRED Taurus PT11 for $600. I was looking, and all of the PT11's MSRPs are $700+. I assume it's worth it, and it felt MUCH better than the Kimber I've used before.

A Taurus better than a Kimber?
Do tell.

ArmasTermin A Taurus better than a Kimber? Do tell. For me, very much so. It fit my hand much better, pointed more naturally, balanced perfectly, had a smoother (and more natural-feeling) safety, the slide didn't require me to go to the gym to use, and the trigger felt much better. And all at half the price.

Then I'd say it's worth it.

Yeah, the Kimber I tried didn't impress me. At all. It'll probably have a bit less recoil ,because the Kimber was heavier.

I really need to do more research. Unfortunately, the only Taurus I know of is the Raging Bull. Given that a used Mk 19 Desert Eagle costs one and a half grand, I don't even want to imagine the damage from buying a .454 Raging Bull.

MSRP for the Raging Bull 454B6 is $877.00, but it's been discontinued so the price would be higher, even for a used one. Just a nice baseline.
The 2 1/2" Stainless .454 Cassull is still available. $925.00. http://taurususa.com/products/product-details.cfm?id=233&category=Revolver
The 8 3/8" Stainless is also available, with the option of "buy now". $942.00 http://taurususa.com/products/product-details.cfm?id=236&category=Revolver

I love my step-dads Taurus 1911.
The Kimber has a nicer trigger pull, but I think the Taurus is a pretty good substitute.

Stoic Socialist I love my step-dads Taurus 1911.
The Kimber has a nicer trigger pull, but I think the Taurus is a pretty good substitute. That entirely depends on the Kimber. This one had a worse trigger than the Taurus. Next time I'm there, I'm going to enquire about layaway, since the shop offers it.

After doing research, this is what I came up with.
$752 MSRP. No information on what that includes, sadly. If anyone can find that info for me, I would appreciate it.
$600 at store, unfired, and I haven't inquired about what is included. Will do so Tuesday or so.
I AM putting it on lay away. I will not miss $150 savings on a brand-new (owned but never fired) 1911, even if it only comes with the 1911 and one magazine, the savings are still there. Far more than enough to purchase a magazine and small case, and a box of ammo.

Well, IMI can now officially go ******** themselves, cuz I'm buying a Handcannon! On the ones that say "available" and have a "buy now" button, click the "buy now" button to get the ACTUAL price. They haven't updated the product pages with the latest MSRP. Which is why the MSRP on the 1911 I'm after shows $719 as the MSRP on the page, but the dealer's catalog shows $752.

Well, I've put it on Layaway after fondling it a bit.
It fits my hand very well and has great balance. I tested the firing pin, it is the proper strength. It's clean (it IS brand new) and lubed. It comes in it's case, with two magazines, all the paperwork, and the the legallock (trigger lock)
And now to pay off the $665.49 ($65.49 is tax and TICS [Tennessee Instant Check System], yes our fees are ********)
