my spanish sucks.
wtf is problem in spanish?
anyway that isint the problem.
i will most likely not be here for judging this weekend. homecoming + band + kaylaton + random s**t. long story short it would be a miracle if i could judge. and frankly thats one waist of a miracle. There are alot of way better things you could do with a miracle then helping us judge a shitty contest on gaia. think about people with aids! now thats a cause for a miracle. we shouldent waist one on this. (not to say it would be an oober waist or that this isint important, it is this just isisint as important as curing aids... see what i'm saying? sorry to offend anyone.)
now you may be thinking "pss emma you tard muffin thats nothing to label an anouncement as 'mucho problemo' and you are right i am a tard muffin and this isint a huge problem, i have not gotten to the huge problem yet. hold onto your horses, if you have no horses buy some. if you have no money to buy horses then hold onto your toasters, if you have enough money for one horses but not plural hence the hoars'ES hold onto a toaster.... if you dont have a toaster im very disapointed in you!
anyway. the problem is that we have been very sloppy ( okay i have been very sloppy) if you think you've been sloppy as well then yay we are in agreement. quite frankly i think every one but nav had been sloppy. dee you are a hoodini. im an unorganized person, and we havent even seen mar or xin in over two challanges. so main point this is sloppy!
how do we fix our habit of sloppyness?
well i was actually talking to one of my friends (kaylaton) and she came up with this "so just pretend like your doing s**t and dump everything on the one organized person(that would be nav)"
now im a reasonable person and i know that is a terrible idea. we dont want to over work nav while we sit on our asses! nav you kick a** and that would be quite idiotic.
so we have to come up with something better and i will stop asking my friends for advice on things they dont give a s**t about to avoid idiotic answers,
i heard someone in the thread that said we should have a layout on how we should deal with judging so that it isint all last minute. in the beginning we would judge entrys as they came in but as september started up we stopped. now i realise that isint as uniformed as what was suggested but we should come up with something to resolve this. and hopefully deal with everything slowly througout the week so that things can be up by saturday or sunday instead of being later.
you may let go of your toasters/ hoarses now!

For starters, I don't own a toaster. Or a horse. I could probably afford a toaster, but I'd never use it and it'd be a waste of money. You can make toast in the real oven or a skillet.
Anyway... idiotic or not, your friend kind of hit what is already happening on the head with her suggestion... except no one is pretending to being doing anything.
Every week I check the mule and post the entries into a thread here in the guild that I've made, keeping track of who still needs to submit.
When the entries all are in, I post them in the contest thread for the contestants to see, which they love. Then I judge the entries themselves. Two other people always judge, but that is the extent of what they do.
Once three people have judged I do the math and total people's scores. I then make the list of round scores vs. overall scores. From there I plug their scores and reorder the coding on the front page to reflect the round results.
When that is posted I then update the past rounds post, the contestants post, and the past winners posts on the first page.
Then I make a thread in the chatterbox and post the judging comments. When that is all done I go back and add the link to the first page and post in the thread to let people know where it is.
The past couple rounds I've also been taking over posting the next challenge because they're not ready to go and the time lapse between when judging finished and the next round is posted is horribly obnoxious.
But you know, I'm not complaining. Not really. There isn't a single thing I do that I dislike doing... but just that I have to do all of that to keep things running smoothly is a bit annoying. I'd love to see someone else step up and take on some of that responsibility rather than showing up once a week the judge in the guild or just chat in the contest thread.
I will keep doing these things until the end of the contest, because I think it'd be unfair to let things fall apart on the contestants who have invested so much time into this contest already.
But things do need to change if you guys are serious about doing Epic 2.
Things I think that should be considered:
1. Find reliable judges.
2. Delegate tasks so one person isn't stuck doing it all.
3. Delegate tasks again so there is a back up person to take care of it if the original person isn't around to do it.
4. Decide all rounds prior to starting, including having what will be posted made up in advance instead of leaving it to last minute.
5. Consider having each round last four or five days rather than a full week and give judges a two day deadline before they get a warning. Second time they miss the deadline fire them.
6. Consider starting with less contestants.
7. If a judge can't judge have someone (I would be a possibility) step in for one round to get the three numbers we need.

I see...
Well, [1] I don't know how to get into the mule (probably because of my ignorance) [2] I thought I was just a step in for 1 round, like #7 in Nav's post
But, I agree this was sloppy. Also, I think make the round last shorter, give more time to judge and do everything else ^_^

we live in the 2000's and you dont have a toaster?! thats so low-tech, toasters do much more than toast you know!
xin, sorry i didint make it clear, but no we added you to the guild and the judgeing table i thought when you said "im always online anyway" that you were saying you would be the fifth or fourth or whatever number judge.
nav, whenever i think about that i do feel bad that your doing everything, i used to be the one to post the challanges and then school startd things got hectic, ect. thats no exuse though, and i and hopefully the others will do things to step up, i somewhat think that the rounds have to stay the length they are though since most of our entrys come in on friday or saturday mourning. Alot of people still live with there parents, and have to get offline at certaint points, arent aloud online during the week, ect. thats why i changed it from how it was in the beginning.

I've never needed a toaster... I don't buy the pre-processed crap like pop tarts that they're usually used for. And I can't tell you when I last bought bread or anything like it that might need toasting. *shrugs* Anyway, with my culinary skills a toaster is really pretty unneccesary to have.
I was under the same impression as Xin, that she was a stand in if you, Dee, or I couldn't judge...
As far as the length of rounds go, I'm in a few contests like this one and one goes on a four day basis. People tend to submit on the last day or two more than before then. I think it might be the same if we tried that same thing. People are busy but it's not impossible to find time.
@Xin- I'm gonna be mean... the log in info to the mule is in one of the threads here... you just have to find it. twisted

I'll try to help more.
I feel horrible that I'm not on as much as I used to be.
Arghh, school.
My weekends are becoming those lazy weekends again where I just kinda sit there.
So I'll get on Gaia more and help out! (:
