The celebration had gone well, although there'd been too many people around for Dao Rui's taste. She'd met up with her cousin once more, and spoken in low, quiet tones with her aunt about various things. She would be returning home within a year or so, she figured.
The second-most important good-bye she had to say was to the girl she'd helped come all the way to Fire Nation. Ina.
The fiery airbender stood near the docks, hip resting on a stack of crates. She'd traded her skills for passage on yet another ship, and both of them would be pulling out to very different ports.
Where was the flighty girl...?

Ina stumbled over to the ship-- she'd promised she'd meet Dao Rui here after the celebrations had ended, but it'd taken her quite some time. Mostly, the fact that she could barely walk straight had done it, as the girl had consumed her fair share of firewater and while she could hold it pretty well....well, it'd been enough to have her tipsy.
She giggled, draping herself on the shoulder of her friend as she got there,
"Hiiiiii Dao!"

The tall woman blinked rapidly at the tipsy arrival of her companion, unaccustomed to being physically touched in a nonviolent way, hesitating only a moment before helping Ina to stand straight. The flush on the other girl's pale cheeks was very pretty.
"... Ina." A slight smile. "I see you've tasted the firewater. I'm glad you remembered our meeting." She gestured to the ship behind her.
"I'm going to the Earth Kingdom, then the Air Temples. I have business to attend to there. Where are you going?"

"Ermmmmmm," Ina wracked the part of her brain that was aware of what was going on for information,
"I dunno. Mum 'n da 'nt said. Prolly here fer a'while."
She used Dao Rui's arm to keep herself upright, though part of her really really wanted to just flop onto the ground. The same part also felt like maybe the ground would be really soft and cushiony.
...the conscious part of her brain denied this, keeping her upright instead. She giggled,
"Whatcha goin' out those ways for?"

A gesture from Dao Rui sent a breeze through the warm air, attempting to refresh Ina's overheated body and perhaps sober her up slightly. The older brunette smiled slightly. "Most of them are personal matters, however, I do believe there is a ship maker I have business with at the Air Temples."
The artist was brilliant, in fact, using airbending to carefully carve designs onto her ships. Dao had grown up partially in her care. "You're slurring your words, Ina.

"Oooooohhhhh," the girl nodded, "Well, 'kay then. Make sure you write! I think we're heading back to the Water tribe territories-- we di'nt get to do a whole lot there 'cause we wanted to make it back in time for the festival."
She giggled, gesturing around her as she said that,
"Those fireworks were something else, huh, Dao? Super pretty! Best firebenders in the world makin' those..."

Dao Rui's voice was dry, and she raised an eyebrow even as she accepted the use of a nickname. "I highly doubt, Ina, that the best firebenders in the world are wasting their energy on something as frivolous as fireworks." A pause, and she gripped Ina's elbow, frowning at her.
She pulled the girl toward her, forcing the firebender to look into her blue eyes. "Ina... I will write you, and I need you to remember something for me. If I make you an offer, later, consider your choice very carefully, for it will change your life."
Dao Rui could say these things to a drunk girl, who wouldn't realize how serious such matters were. Of course, Ina would remember it in the morning, but Dao would be gone by then.

Ina was a little confused by her statement, but decided to agree to Dao Rui's terms, whatever they were,
"Sure, sure...." she glanced up at the sky,
"Oooo! Lookit the moon, so pretty tonight!" she beamed, flopping down on a nearby crate,
"Mabe it's a sign!"

"A sign? You sound like a waterbender, now." Dao Rui watched cargo being loaded onto various ships [crews worked around the clock here], and frowned slightly, stepping away from the tipsy girl. "Hurry to the place you're staying, Ina. One shouldn't be out alone this late." She nodded to the girl. "I'll see you upon my return."
Dao Rui left, boarding the ship.

Ina giggled,
"Fire Benders can have signs too!" she asserted, then motioned to a crew member that had been standing just out of earshot,
"C'mon Yuichi," she shouted at him,
"Time t'go..." she turned to Dao Rui just before she left, "Dun worry about me. Yuichi'll get me home safe."
She knew better than to wander about alone, drunk, afterall. For all her immaturity, Ina was not stupid, nor a stranger to the dangers port could offer. Waving to the girl's back, she grabbed the shoulder Yuichi offered and hobbled her way home.
