Released: 2/5/08
System: x-box 360/PS3
Story: Nero, a member of the Order of the Sword. Members who worship Sparda (a good demon?). He resembles Dante and Vergil. After attending a 'church' a little late Nero catches up with Kyrie. After staying for a bit he gets bored and gets up to leave but Kyrie requests for him to stay. A distraction then occurs with Dante coming in from the ceiling and murdering the order's leader; Dante is assumed as a villian. Nero immediantly runs over to distract Dante so that Kyrie and her brother can get people out of the area.
It's then that Nero shows that he has a demon like arm in a showdown with Dante. However, in the end Dante easily manages to escape leaving Nero behind with the others. It's then that Nero is given the mission to bring Dante back to pay for his crimes (murdering the leader).
Gameplay: The game is a set of missions (chapters) with a story to progress through. In the end of each mission your ranked by how well you did. Each mission ends with a boss and the game is only one player.
Towards the few last chapters you can play as Dante.
Through out the game you can also buy items/skills from special stores/statues.
Graphics- Simply to put it: Amazing! I love how the characters like Nero/Dante look. They're done well and the graphics during game play is splendid as well and well detailed.
Characters- At the moment I know you can play as Nero in the begining. It later changes to Dante.
Skills- Each character has various styles/skills that makes there fighting different adn helps you progress through the story. Nero wields a sword and a demon arm. The arm can be used as a kind of grappling hook like tool to reach out and grab enemies of help him get to one place to another.
Battle - Since its mission levels...you basically run around as a character. You have various skills and a few taunts you can use as a character. Monsters either appear or are there for you to fight. Usually you get sealed off with a small number of monsters to fight against.
Rate- 8/10 (For me!)
I personally thought it was...OK. Usually mission games are fine for me but at the moment I didn't play it in a while. The characters are cool. The fighting moves aren't bad but it's not really a game that I got hooked on. However...this is my first Devil may cry game. ^_^"
For any fan of the games I would recommend it and it did recieve a lot of high ratings so even though I gave it a 8 I'd say you should at least give it a try (maybe try renting first?).
Edit 2:
7/7/09 "Moonlight's comeback":
So I tried it again and I have to admit now that I've gotten further and played it longer...the game is defiantly fun. The storyline is really good so far. I just still don't like those bonus missions but thankfully you can skip those if you like. It's still a recommended game!
