October Reformatory

October Reformatory is a place for criminals, big and small, to amend their sins. The prison, located near Kelnia Bay, was named after the month of it's creation, as well as the fact that it is the end of the line for criminals, as October is the end of the livelihood of the Earth.

The Prison boasts Five different departments, Two regular cell departments, a solitary confinement complex, an intensive care department, and an anti-magic department. These five departments feature the best guards, and keep prisoners locked away.

The guards are experts in their trade, and are known to be the best in all the land. They are formidable fighters, known for their combat skills, especially in the area of martial arts.

"Martial arts?" you ask. Well, guards shouldn't have weapons. If a convict were to get ahold of them, well...

The souls of those who never saw the outside world after entering the reformatory are said to wander the complex. Many guards share experiences of hauntings, especially in "The Hole", the reformatory's solitary confinement.

However, the most haunted place of all is "The Vault". The Vault is a large empty room, used for different purposes. Nobody knows what it contains except for the Warden and the Captain of the Guards. Some say it is used to contain the World's worst criminal, others say that the Warden keeps his stash of money from dirty dealings inside. Rumors of a great beast lurking behind it's barred door are commonly spread around too. None have been proven, but anybody who enters has never been seen again.

Inside October Reformatory
Guard Towers #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5

The Library was actually created by a convict. He requested money from Deralo city, and after many months, the library was built.

The warden lives at the prison, he has a few rooms connected to his office in which he stays along with his family.

The prisoners are expected to work, and can earn money through working. They can send this money to their families, or keep it for themselves.

Notes
This is based off of a real prison

That prison is none other than the Ohio State Reformatory

If you've seen Shawshank redemption, that's the prison.

The chains in her wings and wrists have long dug through her flesh. Simple healing magic would fix it, but it was not comfortable at that moment.
With a small blue jewel in her chest, Amaranth looked out of her prison cell. Nothing to be heard but moans and nothing to be seen but dried blood on old bricks.
How long had she been there? She doesn't know. Her plan to escape Skyrim failed. She was captured by the completely wrong group. They suspected her of being a member of the group of thugs she hired.
Who were they? She doesn't know. She knew that her little brother Kir tried to keep her from being captured, but he was taken as well.
Was he safe? Even that she didn't know. She just hung from her chains and watched the blood on the opposite wall flake.

Redd sat in his dark dank cell. It was awfully quiet at the Reformatory lately, and he didn't like it one bit. The usual noise gave him a boost of vigor, and it seemed to make prison easier.

Redd waited for the guard to make his round. After a few minutes, the guard passed by, muttering a greeting of some sort. Redd didn't respond, and decided to stretch out on his cot.

Redd wondered what had become of his old cellmate. The man was dragged off to The Hole earlier that day, and hadn't been heard of since. Rumors claimed he had been sent to The Vault. Either way, Redd didn't care, he wasn't too fond of his old cellmate. The spot would be filled the next day, somebody would be here, that's the way things worked in the Reformatoy, that's how they've always worked.

Warden Merrik sat at his desk. He filed a few papers, and signed some funding documents. Finally, he placed some money in his safe, and kicked his feet up on the desk. He lit his pipe, and blew smoke rings around the room.

Amaranth heard the guard come by.
The guard stopped in front of the cell, not expecting an Angel to be chained there.
"What the hell are you looking at...?" She growled.
The guard composed himself momentarily, "You better watch yourself or you'll end up in the Vault," He warned.
Amaranth merely grinned.

The book cart was doing it's rounds again too, and it stopped in front of Redd's cell. He took a book about some conspiricy, but promptly returned it, considering it too sophisticated.

Redd got back onto his cot, and tried to fall asleep. It wan't lights out yet, but it was getting close. Redd tried to fall asleep early, because he knew tomorrow would be tough, tomorrow he had to work double-time because of his stunt earlier today.

"That guy had it coming," Redd mumbled to himself. "He got what he deserved, but I got in trouble too, and now we both have to work tomorrow."

Amaranth walked over to the bars and tried to look through, but her chains held her back.
She cursed under her breath. She couldn't figure out what she did to deserve such treatment.
Eventually, she sat down on her cot. She couldn't do anything here. All she could do was try to rest and hope that she gets some answers sooner or later.
Her little brother Kir must be worried, but she didn't mind that. She just hoped that they don't find out about his curse.

The Warden sat in his office, and picked up the loudspeaker on his dest. "Hey, all you no good criminals, lights out." He said into the device.

The warden's voice echoed through the Reformatory, and almost instantly, all the lights shut off.

Redd watched as the lights went out. He heard some whimpering from an adjacent cell. A few other convicts told the whimpering man to shut up. Redd laid there, listening to the man's whimpering. Soon after, one of the guards walked up to the cell, and slammed on the bars, telling the man to stop his whining.

The man obeyed, and fell asleep. Redd tried to sleep, but it seemed every night was sleepless at the reformatory. Not a single night went by without Redd regretting his past actions.

Amaranth sat in the darkness quietly. She had her eyes closed, but it was unclear whether or not she was actually asleep.
Soon, a small humming sound came from her cell. It was a melody that she was taught when she was younger, and had also taught it to her brother in turn. It was slow yet joyous. It was a quiet hum that seemed to float into the other cells and relax the prisoners. Soon, all other sounds were drowned out; and all that was heard was the quiet melody.

Redd heard the melody, and almost instantly fell asleep. However, he stayed awake a bit longer to hear it out. The melody was relaxing and soothing. It filled him with hope, a hope that tomorrow wouldn't be so bad.

Amaranth continued her melody for another while.
Then...
"Hey you! Newcomer!" One of the guards came over, hearing the sound.
Amaranth stopped humming only to look up at the guard, "What do you want?" She said, her words dripping with verbal poison.
"Get to sleep! We'll be working you hard tomorrow!" The guard ordered.
"Heh," Amaranth laughed. The guard left and she resumed her melody from where she was interrupted. The jewel in her chest started to emit a light blue glow.

From the corner of his eye, Redd saw a glow. It seems to be coming from the same place the melody had been coming from.

"What in blazes?" he asked rhetorically. "What could that be?"

Several other inmates began swearing as the flash of light woke them up. Others slept on.

A few guards rushed over to the source of the light, seeing what in the world had happened.

"What the hell are you doing again, you bat!" One of the guards yelled at Amaranth.
She stood up from her cot and turned to them. The glow coming from her chest remained.
"Stop that now or you're going into the Vault!" Another guard warned.
Suddenly, Amaranth's song became a little sadder and filled with a mysterious power. The glow in her chest shone brighter.
One of the guards took a long metal rod and jabbed her hard in her stomach. She let out a sharp yell and the melody stopped. She fell to her knees and clutched her abdomen, willing the pain to go away.
The metal bar then cracked over her head. She was stunned but remained awake. Blood rushed down her forehead as she looked up at the guards in defiance. The glow in her chest stopped.
"Now shut up and go to bed!" The guard ordered and they left, quieting down the other prisoners along the way.
"Heh..." Amaranth let out a small chuckle and sat back on her cot. She let out a small but satisfying sigh.

Redd saw as the guards approached the cell, and attacked the person contained inside.

It seemed as if all eyes were on the cell, before and after the guards had come and gone.

Afterward, everybody had fallen silent, but nobody could sleep. Nobody made a noise, for fear that they might get a beating.

Amaranth let out another sigh and tried to get to sleep. She could still feel the metal bar that struck her stomach and head, and she felt a warm trickle of blood running down her forehead. She licked the blood as it reached her lips and smiled.
She eventually found rest.

In a cell nearby, 'Tweak' the weasel was freaking Out. It was time for his meds, and he was straining against his Straightjacket. "Let me Out! I WANT OUT!I smell Blood!" He wriggled, actually putting a tear or two in the thick, sturdy canvas Restraint.
