For the past decade or so most shows and/or toy lines have been using G1 transformers, so with Updates are done well and with are crap.
So I’ll start with Shockblast of Energon as a character not as good but the look and modes are great not just a gun but a tank and satellite and it worked. Also the Dinobot of Animated they were always weird and random but just so lovable and the animated series works so well whit them.

Was Big Daddy a good update or a bad one? I like that there giving Micromasters big bodies, but I would of like them to give them original ones rather than repaints.

It was a great update. The mold certainly makes a better Big Daddy than a Wheeljack"Downshift", and if a secondhand road had to be taken to bring us a new Big Daddy, so be it. The only thing better would be an Alternators Big Daddy.
Another great update: BW2 Galvatron. It was the perfect mix of standalone quality on its own and visual homage to the original Galvatron. Incidentally, he goes well with Animated Blackarachnia, their color schemes sync well and she's just big enough to ride on his dragon mode's back. It's awesome.
Another great update: Universe Repugnus. Perfect mold reuse for the character. mrgreen

With the exception of Galvatron, anything from the Universe Classics line is a great update to the original Gen1 characters. I like to mention other exclusives such as Fracture (Crasher), Crankcase, and Breakaway (Getaway) are also great updates.

On the crappy update side: Energon Superion. Is Superion simply fated to have toys that are rickety pieces of crap?
I'll tell you which combiner to emulate. Defensor. Seriously, the original Defensor toy is so solid and well designed that even the knockoff companies can turn out a Defensor that doesn't wobble. Never buy a knockoff Superion. Ever.

Crasher is an excelent update. They couldn't choose a better mold for her. Mirrage is even skinny enough to pull off the chick thing.
Energon Omega isn't that bad. he sort a looks like the old Omega, the fact that he's made of mutiple vehicles makes sence.
Encore Omega, well he's the same as the original, but I don't like the eyes they gave him.
