I know there's a threads for Twilight fans but they seem a bit one-sided and if what you have to say about the book isn't praise it doesn't seem to be tolerated. In this thread I hope to hear people's actual opinions about it whether they be positive or negative. An actual discussion. Just keep in mind that there's a difference between critique and baseless flaming/bashing.
Now, I bought it because I wanted to see what the fuss was about. Don't knock it 'til you try it, ya know?
Right away the main characters seemed extremely Mary Sue and Gary Stu. Perfect and the center of everyone's world. I didn't feel any depth to them. They seem a bit shallow emotionally too. It's like "I'm a depressed teen because of my typical teen problems so people can relate to me. Hey, I just met you but you're attractive and cute so I'm in love with you out of the blue."
The story started quite slowly too. I can get it if the author wanted to be descriptive to set the mood but there's a line where it gets boring and tedious and it gets crossed many times over. The writing in general is sort of bad. The plot is predictable and the climax was boring. The book just hints at things to come in other books and leaves a lot of loose ends which, to me, means the author is shamelessly trying to get more money by intentionally making it so you have to buy more.
There are many legends about vampires all over the world and books and movies have gotten creative with their own versions over the years but really... Sparkling? Speaking of vampires, I don't really know the relevance of making this book even have them. It certainly doesn't make it more interesting IMO. The way it was played out it may as well be any other generic obstacle between the hero and heroines love.
I discussed this with my sister, who loves the book, and she agreed that it wasn't great but it was a teenager book. What does that have to do with anything? Is that saying that it's okay for a book to be bad if you slap a "for teens" title on it? That excuses poor writing? I think teenagers deserve more than Twilight. It's unoriginal and isn't a great example of literature.
All in all, if I wanted to read something with a shoujo manga plot, I'll pick up a shoujo manga. At least it has pictures.

In the poll I answered "I Love It" but this is not the case. I thought it was a good book but it's follow ups were so boring. Me myself I enjoyed Twilight but it's quite over-rated. I can't wait to se the film either!

When I first read it I thought it was boring at the beginning. Then people started to read it because the movie came out. (the movie sucked! D<) So I decided to give it another try and read it again. I started to get addicted xD i like the book. but the 2nd book was tottaly boring. I dont really like the characters that much. To me, Bella seemed like a player. xD She always seemed to sexual, expessially for a teens book. And the relationship between Bella and Edward was too much. Idk thats what I think. And ever since I saw the movie I lost interest in the books. They missed out some big parts. Like when Bella was in the science room where they have to test their blood, and she had to go to the nurse because she was sick of the blood.

The Series just got TOO much. OMG I'm soooo tired about hearing about Bella. She's just annoying. Always getting into stuiped stuff. Her poor lil life with her perfect lil vampire bf who is a b***h. Jacob is SOOO much better but NO she wants to go with looks and go for that dumbass and not the guy thats better.

Edward and Bella are too perfect. Breaking Dawn had too much of a perfect ending for me to enjoy.
The plot is always *damsel-in-distress*. It's like Rapunzel+teenage+vampires pulled into one. I liked the book because it pulls me in and holds my attention because of the way it's worded, but the movie and the book overall is really corny. I wish Bella had some flaws excpt being a clutz and I wish Edward had some internal conflict apart from "I wanna eat you Bella". I think if he had actual angst, it would make it a bit more exciting.
Thanks to Stephenie Meyer, the expectations of girls towards males are much higher.

twilight totally gets on my nerves. I've read all the books and...well not so great really. Who wants to read about two teenagers who obsess over each other?? It's a very unhealthy relationship. Twilight is pretty much telling ppl, kill urself if u lose ur lover, forget about everyone else you love for another person, it's complete and total disgusting BS!! No offense to all you TWITARDS.

At first me and my best friend read the book for a book report and to to what all the hype was about it. I seemed to be more interested in it. Since I liked it I read all the other books, and was very disappointing when I saw the movie. I mean it was a good book just not all it was hyped up to be. Now it is getting obnoxious with all of these new vampire shows and movies that are coming out.

Alright well my opinion on Twilight was that i thought the book was amazing but the movie sucked. When i was reading it it just fully caught my attention and it was really good. Then i read new moon and it was a dissapointment. Honestly i like the character edward much better than Jacob. I just recently read eclipse and i thought it was good, but it was boring at times. overall though i thought that twilight was a great book but im not like obsessed with it like some people are i just thought it was really good. I can't wait for new moon the movie to come out though so hopefully it is better than the book.

Twilight is a good book seires but horrible movie. Bella complains to much and is a big clutz and Edward is like obsessed. What I don't get is how they just fell in love. Just that there was nothing pushing them together or anything like that To me, Twilight was not my favorite book. The other books were better. When Bella was spenging time with Jacob it became the boringest part ever. I'm team Edward because I don't enjoy how Jacob want's to kill Edward, He dosn't even care about how Bella will feel when Edward is gone. It's like dude chill.
