 The days were long, the pains were real, and Mekare still hadn't settled his depression. Having come down from the mountains to get a bit of fresh main land air, he walked with his head hung low, not really paying attention to his surroundings. As he walked at a sloth-like crawl he sighed heavily, trying to recall old, happy memories. Sashiko. He missed Sashiko. But was he the only one? To tired to rack his brain for answers, Mekare slumped to the ground, eyeing the pale sky. "How do I fix this?" He asked quietly.

Aradel wanders through a field thinking to himself again. His tail swishes as thoughts race through his head. He kept coming back to the thought that there might be a lion out there....a brother. He really never wanted to think back to his childhood, it had taken a bad turn at one point. His mood becomes rather gloomy as he sighs and looks out in front of him. "I wonder..." He spots a lion a ways off and frowns a little. "Mmm..."

Mekare stopped and laid down, closing his eyes for a moment, for once he really thought of his past. After the problems with Nox, he had given up on trying to remember. All the past did was remind him of his mistakes. But a bolt of lightning struck across his memory and made him jump, his heart pounding and his eyes as big as an owl's. "Who are you..." He mumnbled to himself for as the lighning had flashed he had heard a child's voice. Was it his own? Or someone else's? Did he in fact have a family besides the one that failed with Nox?

Aradel decides to go ahead and see who the other lion is before he tries to think back. All he could think of was a lightning storm for now anyway. He walks over to the other lion, but freezes a few feet away, eyes wide. It couldn't be...maybe...this lion...no. He must just look a little like him. "Uh..hi there..." His heart races as he waits for the other lion to look up at him.

The voice didn't register as anyone he knew, cautiously he raised his gaze to the other lion. "Sorry if I am intruding..." As his eyes took in the sight of Aradel he stopped speaking, a strange flashback hitting him.
The thunder cracked as Mekare, only a cub, took off. The lightning scared him as it flashe dand the thunder boomed. "Aradel!? Where are you!?" He whimpered as his til tucked between his legs. Another flash and crack. "Mommy!? Daddy!?" He was alone. "Where are you!?" He whined as he began to run.
Mekare's eyes focused in on the lion again. Could this be...? "Aradel?" His voice questioned in disbelief.

For a while, Aradel just looks at the male lion laying in the grass in front of him. He finally registers that he had said his name. He knows his name...! This must be...but it can't be...
His eyes unfocus, almost looking through the other lion as a memory that was haunting him returns. He was running around in circles, his tail between his legs. "Mom! Dad! Mekare!!! WHERE ARE YOU?!" Tears sting his eyes as he runs, still a vulnerable cub.
His eyes refocus on the lion in front of him. Maybe...it could be..."Mekare....?

Mekare stared in disbelief. He thought his family was gone...vanished. But then how could Aradel be standing before him? Slowly rising from his position he stood facing his brother. That's who this lion was right? His brother. "But... you were gone. I couldn't find you..." He said in a whisper, his eyes taking his his brother's full image. "Aradel..." He whispered his name again, trying to register the fact that he was alive and well... and standing before him.

"I was scared when lightning struck the ground...I ran for cover..." He watches the other male stand, noting how alike they truly looked. This had to be him...but how had he survived...? "When I went back...I couldn't find you...or mom or dad..." He blinks trying to take this all in. So long since that day...and here he is...right in front of him...

"I don't know what happened after the storm... I was scared and lost... I don't even know how I found cover.... I just remember finding another lion, but not you or mom or dad. He took me in. But where have you been Ara? It's been so long..." He said as he moved forward and laid his head on his brother's shoulder, kind of like a lion man-hug.

Aradel lays his chin on his brother's shoulder, returning the hug. "I've been traveling since then...alone pretty much..." He forces himself not to tear up as water stings his eyes. His brother...he had found his brother..."I've missed you Meka...I was so worried about you..."

Mekare smiled and sat back, looking at his brother again. "You have no idea what I've been through... I am so happy to see you... I havn't been happy in so long." He looked up to the sky, thanking the heavens for sending him some kind of relief from his pains. "You are an uncle to five cubs... My mate left me... and I live in a pride in the mountains with on of my sons... Besides that there really isn't anything else worth saying. I've been so lonely even with my kids..." He added quickly, yet quietly.

Aradel sits down as well, looking at his brother, listening as he tells him about his life. "That's rough Meka..." He frowns and tries to think of something comforting to say, but cannot. He had not suffered the same in his past. They may be brothers, but their lives sure had been very diffrent. "I have a beautiful mate named Rose, and two newborn cubs. I've named the boy Kailen and she named the girl Viviney. Though...Kailen has spikes along his back and Viviney has venus fly traps curled around her body and legs."

Mekare smiled at the thought of being an uncle himself. He thought he'd never even be a grandfather... but that had come along sooner than he thought. "Oh, you're a great uncle too. Teysu has two daughters and a son..." He said as he thought about one of his childrent hat made a life for themselves. "I'm sure your children are beautiful Aradel. All children are. I would love to see them sometime." He said with a smile.
It was so strange that only a short while ago he had been depressed wondering where his life was going to go, to talking to his brother as if he had just seen him the other day. How things changed so quickly.

A smile crosses his face as he listens to his brother talking to him. His brother...he never thought he'd find his brother after so long...and be an uncle too at that.."I know you'll be a great uncle too Meka. I can't wait to introduce you to Rose." He realises his family just grew two times bigger at least. A miracle if there ever was one.

"Aradel, brother... Do you have a pride?" Ideas were forming in his mind so fast that he couldn't get questions out soon enough, or recall those he had thought of earlier. "Your mate... what's she like? I'd love to meet her... and everyone else you are so attached to, maybe if I can find him... you can meet Sashiko..." He was grinning ear to ear... how long had it been since he had smiled this much?
