I think watermelons are very expensive to buy over there, but I'm not sure.

I don't like watermelon at all.

Watermelon was once considered a delicacy of the rich in Japan, a sign of decadence. These days, it is simply a very popular gift to bring to hosts when visiting their homes.

We always bring a Densuke melon for my grandma when we visit Nagoya. 3nodding

I was told there were seedless, small-round shaped ones. But I don't think any SQUARED variety would make it taste any different--or better--for that matter.
