Veredhiel was playing the shadow game again. One of her new friends had taught her how to vanquish the shadow demons, the ones that were sneaking up on innocent cubs (like herself) and had to be beaten! So she went around a small grassy area, stomping on whatever shadows she saw with a giggle.
Eventually she became tired, though. Winning was hard work!
Her tongue lolled out very un-lady-like and she laid down on her stomach, resting for a moment as a cool breeze played with the surrounding grass and cooled her fur. She would have invited a sibling to play with her, but most were busy playing on their own or spending time with their parents. She had yet to really have some one-of-one time with both her father and mother, but she knew she would get her turn. They had a big family. It was hard to give each cub their own little time. Vere could wait.
She was a patient, cautious cub. She didn't like to intrude on anyone's time, or make them feel like they had to do something just because she asked them too. And she hated being a bother. Which could explain why she hadn't spent any time with her parents: she never reminded them about her. She just waited her turn with a smile on her face.
Right now she didn't really mind being the only one alone in an empty field, but it would be nice to meet someone else to play with.

Yakasa's Link (cause the image is way huge!)Yakasa pounded the dirt around him playfully, having been told to "go work on your pouncing!" by his sister. Why did he have to do that? He was really good at pouncing, even better than Nully was. A tumbleweed passed him by, intreging the young cub, causing him to chase after it.
For awhile, it was a game of cat and mouse, the tumbleweed would pull out in front, then Yakasa would pounce it and then it would begin anew. After a bit though, the lion grew tired and flopped down on the ground, the remainder of the tumbleweed stopping nearby.
However, poor Yakasa hadn't realised that he had stopped on a small red-colored branch and pawed at it tiredly. He sighed and rolled over, picking up the furry branch with his paws and batting it with the two tiny appendages.
...wait. Furry branch? Yakasa took a closer look at it to try to see what he had found.

She had been laying there, catching her breath, innocent and unaware of the world around her, when she was suddenly attacked with no warning. It was sudden, strange, and completely and totally scary. She'd doubt she would ever wander out into the wild and let her guard down like that ever again.
Vere squeaked when her tail was suddenly stepped on, and then batted at with two curious paws. She quickly skittered away from the inquisitive cub, tail curled under her body, and turned around to stare at the male.
"What are you doing?" She squeaked out, blinking frantically so she didn't burst out into tears at any second. Those inquisitive steps had hurt! "That was my tail!" She tried to turn and inspect her injured limb but keep her eyes on him at the same time; it was quite a task. Vere managed to lift it out from its hiding place and up close to her eyes. There weren't any physical marks on it, but it was still sore.

"Um...I'm sorry, really sorry!" he stumbled out, tripping over himself and landing in a position that made the cub look like a bear rug. He looked up and over at her in his current position and pouted his lips as he apologized again. "I um...thought it was a branch. A really cool colored branch but...it wasn't. Um, I'm Yakasa. Sorry again for stepping on you, are you hurt anywhere badly?" he asked, hoping he hadn't damaged her tail or anything.
((I am such a flake for forgetting this link....would you possibly want to continue this RP at all? Please let me know and sorry again. .-.))

He...had thought her tail was a branch?
"But...my tail doesn't have any leaves sticking out of it. Or bugs crawling on the leaves. Or eating the leaves. And it's not green!" She couldn't help but giggle and hesitantly move forward and out of her protective, curled-up position. "I'm Vere. Nah, I think I'm okay." To see just in case, though, her tail unwound and flicked this way and that. Yakasa hadn't done much damage, so it bent each way pretty easily. "See? I'm okay."

Yakasa watched her tail carefully (and also working on suppressing the urge to pounce it yet again) and after, nodded back in satisfaction. "Okay, yeah...I should have thought before I lept, but I'm happy you weren't hurt!" He stretched out his front paws quietly before looking back at her. "Nice to meet you Vere. It's nice to meet much of anyone lately, I think...well, I think my family left. But, that's okay!" He puffed out his chest and grinned.
"Always gotta have a good attitude, or else well...then life's just boring!"

She laughed and danced forward a bit. Her tail swayed a little bit behind her, in time to her bouncing. Then she sat in front of him, a friendly smile still on her face. "Your family left? How awful! My family is really big. I have a bunch of sisters but only two brothers, and it's really busy. Mama always forgets who we are, but that's 'cause she can't remember anything real good. That's what Papa tells us." Vere nodded.
"Good attitude!" she giggled. "That's how Mama acts. She's always smiling no matter what!"

Yakasa felt a bit comforted as she spoke and smiled back warmly. "Yeah, they did but no matter what, gotta keep moving forward. No use in looking back anyways. And wow...that is a big family!" The youth grinned, imagining what it would be like to be in such a large family as he pawed the ground. "I'm sorry about your Mama but she and your Dad sound really nice! They play with you a lot? And you even have siblings!!"
Yakasa was quite amused at the notion of such a big family and such a nice person to talk to that he began to open up a bit more from the "hardened shell" he'd built around himself since he had become (as he put it) "lost".

"Nah, but Daddy always tries to spend time with us. He teaches us how to find water, and how to hunt, and how to behave." Vere giggled again. Most of her siblings ignored the "manner teachings" and continued to act like children. She tried her best when it was just her father and her, of course, but when it was in a big group, she acted the same.
"There's nothing to be sorry about! I love my Mama." She beamed at him. "Do you have any friends here to play with?"
