Night had fallen hours ago, the wind howled through the trees as snow fell heavily the temperature seemed to be continuously dropping, Alwyn shivered as he pulled his cloak tighter around himself hoping to block out the howling winds. He knew that he needed to find some sort of shelter and soon if he stayed out in the snow chances are he wouldn't make it through the night a cloak wasn't nearly enough to cover him from the snow and icy winds. But he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched by someone or something it made him nervous as he made his way through the forest only the moon giving him any light. Every time he would stop and turn hoping to see what was behind him there was nothing there except the dark trees, he hadn't seen anything or heard it since it would be hard to hear much in the wind but he felt as though there was a pair of eyes watching his every move.

* The moon hung overhead, lighting the way of this stray wanderer, illuminating his frame against the pure white snow. Footsteps marred the texture as he trudged his way through, marking his path.
She watched, keeping to the shadows, stealthily following, pitch black hair framing perfect features, her long frame matching his strides easily, piercing ebony eyes gazing upon her prey, ivory skin as pale as the moon light that filtered upon them. Her senses astute to every little sound, the drag of material as he huddled closer to his cloak, the crackle of snow pushed beneath each boot, harsh raspy breathing as he struggled onward, and the fast beating pulse that raced though him, causing her to stir from the depths.
A smile played upon her lips as she watched, tonight had just got a lot better, Aeval had not fed for awhile, and that could do terrible things to a vampire, though it had not been long enough to hamper her that much, fatigue was still ever present.
She had to admit, he was handsome, for a mere human; if she had not been so hungry, he would have been a interesting play toy; but alas he would make a tasty meal instead.
He continued onward, seemingly unaware of her presence, or so she thought*.

Alwyn stopped once more he could swear that there was someone behind him there were flakes of snow in his hair, it was brown and tied back into a ponytail which fell down to his shoulders. His green eyes searched the area nervously if there was someone following him and he couldn't see them chances were they were some kind of obvious threat ''Who's there?'' he called out his voice hoarse, he was ill he'd been in the wilderness for weeks now with little or no food at times, only his cloak to keep him warm and not to mention the cold.

She stopped mid-step, poised ready, her senses alert. His voice echoed around the hills, a flock of birds to her right, flew from their perches, snow falling layering upon the ground. Aeval frowned, small imperfect wrinkles marring her features as she pondered upon the situation.
He had detected her, but how, her footsteps betrayed no sound, she was far enough back not to get in his vision however he had known she was here.
Aeval was still quiet young for what she was, leaving her sire's side to hunt alone, she believed in necessary to advance her skills, obviously she needed more training.

Gracefully, effortlessly moving forward, stepping into the clearance, head tilted to the one side as she gazed upon the man before her, watching as curls of steam rose from each quick breathe, a pink tongue slowly drawing across voluptuous lips, teasingly as she decided out her next move. Would she go in for the kill, allowing his spirit to depart his undernourished body that remained upon the earth, or should she learn from this encounter.
She awaited his next move, knowing that what he said would either finalize his fate, or allow him to live.

''Who's there?'' he called out again in the same sickly hoarse voice before giving a wheezing cough. He watched the darkness for a moment more before he decided he was simply imagining things it was cold and dark, he felt vulnerable alone in the forest like this especially since he was sick. He turned around and continued in the direction he had originally been traveling he knew he needed to find shelter and soon or he might not make it through the night. He gave another wheezing cough and stopped walking as he lent against a tree and sunk down into the cold snow he couldn't walk anymore he had barely eaten in weeks, he had no strength left and he knew he wouldn't find shelter soon he drew his cloak around him and prayed to the gods he would make it through the night at least.

*Watching with intrigue, an ebony strand caught in the wind, playing back and forth before her eyes, the sharp glint of teeth biting upon her lip in frustration as she watched her prey collapse. Flea ridden and half starved he fell upon the ground, weighted down by fatigue, hardly a decent meal to one who usually dined on royalty. Descending from the darkness she moved toward him, bold and determined she set forth, effortlessly moving, snow nor wind hampering her.
Standing before him, dark against the pure white, she loomed above him, a slight sneer quickly passing upon her lips, one elegant finger resting beneath his chin, lifting his head so that his attention was drawn to her, gazing into his eyes as she decided upon her question before hand.
For now she would keep him, allow him to reach his peak, so that she may then taste the sweet wine he had to offer. Nodding her head in physical agreement, she reached down, firmly grasping him beneath the arm, and hefted him upon her shoulder, taking his weight, before setting off in the direction of the nearest hamlet.*

Alwyn swore he could feel the eyes watching him again but now he didn't care all he cared about was trying to survive this blizzard. But when he felt a hand lifting his face up he opened his eyes ''Who...who are you?'' he asked curiously, but he received no reply ''You should find somewhere to stay for the night or at least ride out the storm in, don't bother about me I'll either live this night or pass into the next world this night chooses whether I live or die'' he muttered as he tried to look away before he was simply lifted up.

His green eyes widened as he looked down at the woman, she was very attractive there was no doubting that but how did she possess such strength ''Where are you taking me?'' he demanded rather nervously he hadn't been expecting this when he first entered the forest. But the storm didn't even seem to effect her when here he was freezing, sick and starving and she was walking as though it was a pleasant afternoon. ''You were the one who was following me weren't you?'' he asked.

*Laughing heartedly at his meaningless concern for her, a sharp musical lilt to her voice, as she peered through the swath of snow, moving onward to their destination. Slightly burdened by his weight it slowed her down somewhat, a quick glance toward her captive, if captive he was, showed that he was deteriating fast. Not wishing her effort to go unrewarded she pushed on, traveling an old animal path easterly, brushing aside any low hanging branches. Knowing that unconsciousness was soon upon him Aeval decided to talk to him, though about what she did not know, and conversations with her food rarely kept her entertained.
Sighing in vented frustration she replied, her accent from far away lands, however she had a firm grasp of this new language and so needed no prompting. "Who I am is of no concern to you, as to where we are heading, relative safety, or at least from the cold and wind" A small fleeting smile touched her lips as she had uttered safe, when can a human ever be safe among her kind.
"Following, yes I guess you could say that, your body is fragile and weak, you had no chance of survival, the village ahead shall replenish you enough". She uttered unhurriedly, moving as fast as her silken black dress would allow her.*

Alwyn's eyes had closed and he opened them weakly ''But why are you helping me? Why are you following me? How are you able to carry me with such ease?'' he asked weakly he was close to falling unconcious but he had so many questions he wanted answered. Why was she helping him? Why had she followed him? What was her name?. He gave a wheezing cough as he shivered once again his entire body was icy cold and had she not found helped him he would of soon been dead. He coughed once more before slipping into unconsciousness whether he would ever wake or not now depended on her.

*Biting back an oath, as he suddenly grew quiet, his questions needing no answer, dead weight dragging upon her shoulder. Stopping to reposition him she walked on, a distant light flaring bright against the constant darkness, the first of many houses; swiftly jogging forth, her destination in site.
A short while later, large wooden houses loomed either side, lanterns glittering invitingly as she headed to the nearest tavern, harshly rapping on the closed door awaiting to be served.
Aeval had to smirk at the wary face that greeted them, wrinkles mapping there way across the lady's features, as her eyes swept over the duo, soaking in every detail, from the finely clad female poised ready for anything, glaring back challenging her to argue, to the male slumped upon her shoulder.
Knowing that the gentleman would die without help, Aeval spoke quietly, almost child like as she pleaded for a food and board, pitch black eyes glitteringly in the light. Aeval knew how to get her way, knew how to work around someone, when a pout or whimper would work, or when something more sensual was needed, after all she was Kirus's childe.
Winning this minor battle she stepped inside, climbing dust clad stairs to the acquired room, traveling to the poorly decorated bed, releasing her grasp upon the body, she watched as he fell upon the sheets, draping himself across much of the area. Aeval stood temptingly above him, one hand resting upon his chest as she pondered upon the chance to use this advantage... *

Flashes of past memories past through Alwyn's mind as he was carried into the tavern times he wished he could relive and others he wished he hadn't also crossed his dreams. Times with his family celebrating yearly festivals in his home town with his friends, family and townsfolk as they enjoyed the celebrations and the peace they lived in. These times were no more however they were replaced by screams and fire, death and pain terrible memories as he watched his village burn, his friends and townsfolk be cut down in the streets as they ran screaming for mercy.

His parents lying dead only meters from him as he ran, the sky blackened by smoke from the fires which now engulfed his home and village, he couldn't see his siblings yet he knew their fate not long after the town had been raided they had been cut down as well. He ran and screamed as tears ran down his face as he fled from the horror that was once his home he had been no warrior he hadn't even trained with a sword. He awoke from the nightmare as his eyes opened and he sat up suddenly gasping for air before coughing pain in his eyes as a few tears ran down his face he didn't know where he was. It was no longer cold and dark but warm and brightened instead of the cold winds swirling around him.

He looked up to see the young woman who had carried him to where ever this place was, from the looks of the room most likely a tavern. ''You bought me here? Where is here? Why did you save me? Why was it you were following me?'' he said his voice hoarse from being sick. He coughed again and closed his eyes ''Why didn't you just let death claim me and reunite me with my loved ones?'' he whispered painfully.

She watched with intrigue as his face contorted into a painful expression, head jerking from one side to the other as if to free him from whatever site played out in his mind. Body twitching to escape the bonds leashing him to the dream world. Aeval watched idly for a few seconds pondering on what scenario's were drifting so vividly through him.
He awoke abruptly sitting upright, breathe issuing speedily, drawing in the life-force as quickly as it departed, whatever he had seen he appeared disturbed by it. She waited as he adjusted to his surroundings, awaiting the barrage of questions which were sure to come, and inevitably they did.
Descending to perch beside him, ebony black hair cascading down her back as piercing intelligent eyes surveyed him, lips parted in a quaint expression as she spoke, her accent from various backgrounds "It is considered rude in some cultures to harass your savior, especially as they have dragged you over many miles to reach a safe haven. For now it may be known that my name is Aeval, as for your death, It would be a waste to have a corpse litter my path". She turned slowly, her gaze settling upon the window and the snow that lay beyond, blanketing this small village and what lay beyond.
Aeval sat quietly, her mind warring on a decision; to stay and suffer human companionship- already the stench of human emotions ran rampant throughout the lodgings, filtering through the rat run of society. Humans had always disturbed her so, and if she hadn’t felt them so enticing a species she would have left them altogether, but Aeval had to admit they were an interesting race to play with. It was an understanding of most vampires that they all were once human, but though admitted, it was hardly discussed, how could a race so superior be linked with there kind.
Then there was the other road, To depart swiftly into the night as soon as she was able, returning to the hierarchy of the underworld, with a taste of sweet wine upon her pallet, he would make a measly meal, but a meal nether less.

Sweat coated his brow as he looked to his savior the nightmares were still fresh in his mind and it would be some time before they would leave his immediate thoughts. She was beautiful there was no denying that but...it was more then just beauty she was stunning but...she seemed different he couldn't say what it was for sure. But he thought it would be best not to say anything at the current time he didn't want to insult her especially after she just saved his life. ''I apologize if you consider it harassment but I don't know how you managed to carry me all this way to where we are now, I haven't seen a tavern or a town in weeks its lucky that you came across me or I'd be dead by now I'm in your debt Aeval. My name is Alwyn'' he said as he watched her for a moment.

''But answer me this where was it you were headed? Especially on a night like this wouldn't it be safer to stay inside and keep warm then wandering through the forests in a blizzard? Surely its worth waiting only a few hours more then risking your life isn't it?'' he asked. He felt weak and hungry but that was to be expected he couldn't remember the last time he had eaten a proper meal he'd been living off rations that he carried but they could not give you the satisfied feeling of a proper hot meal. It was like the bed he was lying on now, so soft and warm he'd been sleeping on the cold hard ground it was much better where he was now. But he wondered where it was they were exactly.

Snow pelted increasingly upon the window, melting at the mere touch, water flowing down, a small display of the constant cold outside, and within, the fire burning brightly in one corner, keeping all those inside warm and alive. Smells lingered in the room, earthy tones from the man beside her, an aroma of spices and meat filtering up from the kitchen indicating that food was nearly prepared, lavender coating the linen on which they sat.
Large eyelashes closing upon pale cheeks, as she slowly turned to face him, her thoughts no longer straying from her cause, Aeval listened attentively, interest peaking as he uttered his name; Alwyn. His voice deep yet alluring, She could not decipher where his accent was from, a village beyond the border perhaps. He did not look the city type, to friendly, to eager to open up, willing to talk so easily, she did not dislike what she saw in him, in fact Aeval was intrigued, city men could be so boring at times. As for his physical appearance, well apart from the slightly rugged look he wore at the moment, he may just clean up to be very handsome. A soft laugh erupted as her mind began to wander, though this time to some very interesting ideas; smirking as he watched quizzingly at her.
" I was heading to a city located over the range of mountains a few weeks trek away, there are rumors of which I follow, I have been traveling for many months, seeking passage on ships, joining trading caravans, walking many a mile to get to this place. This village is just a small haven branching out from the city's influence. As for my speed, I wish to gain access to this place before the new moon rises". Aeval did not utter one word about how she managed to get him here, such questions were best left unanswered, he would only query it more if she let him. A small smile flickered upon her lips "As for your debt, I have no need of it, I am perfectly able in all of what I do, and need no help, but your apology is accepted, however.......".
A small gong suddenly rang, resonating throughout the household cutting her sentence short, smiling softly to Alwyn she indicating for him to follow, rising to her feet she moved to the door, swiftly turning to view his progress she spoke "It appears dinner awaits us".

Alwyn listened to her speak for a few minutes he enjoyed the sound of her voice for some reason it seemed to make him feel at ease as though things would be alright, perhaps it was because she had saved him only a short time ago she had carried him from death's reaches to the warm safety of this tavern where ever it was, he still wasn't sure of that. He noticed that she had avoided the question of how she'd managed to carry him all the way here with such ease and he decided that it would be best for the time being to not say anything else about it, she obviously didn't want to talk about it at this time and it would be rude to push the subject if she didn't wish to speak of it. ''Well I wish you the best of luck when you reach your destination and I hope its everything that you've been hoping for, I've never been part of a traveling caravan but from stories I've heard it can be quite exciting traveling all over the lands and seeing new places all the time but I've heard it can be dangerous as well what with bandits on the roads and treacherous weather during the different seasons'' said Alwyn.

Alwyn could smell the delicious and inviting cooked food downstairs the smell alone made his mouth water and his stomach growl hungrily it had been weeks at the very least since he had last eaten a proper meal. He gave a small nod as he tried to get to his feet only to have his legs buckle under him, he needed rest his body had been pushed to the extremes in the cold with little warmth and almost no nourishment he would need some rest before he could simply get up and begin walking around he was to weak for that at the moment considering he hadn't been at the tavern for long at all. ''You go and have something to eat I'll be fine here'' he said with a smile hoping that she would eat instead of going hungry.
