Sekani was perplexed.

Though not a new feeling, per say, he did not welcome the feeling when it pertained to something important. How do bees fly? How many little universes were out there? Such things were a wonder to imagine. However, Where exactly Quick kept the yummy treats? should not be one of those things. He sighed. He didn't want to annoy Krishna this soon into the sleepover... which was another odd feeling that he didn't want to go into. Sekani had eagerly jumped on the bandwagon when Aqua announced the visit and truely felt at ease with the grumpy yuniko again... he shook his head to jumble thoughts that he hated to form, which weren't so much forms as just more puzzles.

Peeking his head into one more pantry, his eyes delighted to find a hoard of green apples! A squeak of delight escaped as Sekani plucked down the bowl they rested in and scurried back to the living area. Upon plopping down on a pile of blankets and sleeping bags set out on the couch, he was already nibbling.

Krishna's golden eyes opened to mere slits when Sekani returned from the kitchen, the rainbow tip of his tail twitching slightly in unease. He had no problems with Aqua coming over - sleepovers between her and Quick were only too common, be they filled with screams of terror over Fatal Frame or amusement at the old Transformers cartoon before falling asleep. They went away, had a good time, and left him in peace with himself. Not so this time. Not when Sekani had danced his way through the door and announced his attention to join the party.

The Kirin had begun to both cherish and dread the moments spent in Sekani's presence. He continued to grapple with the feelings that he knew the teal-haired Yuniko found undesireable, and though he tried to bury his affections deep below the surface, he could still feel them, hot magma always threatening to bubble towards his cool, scaled surface. Still worse, he knew that he wouldn't get a good night's sleep regardless, for his Sekani plushie was locked away carefully in his room, far from curious eyes. He half-hoped the other Yuniko had forgotten that Sorena had ever told him of the existence of it - it was the only explanation that offered the proud Krishna any kind of relief.

When Sekani happily chomped into his apple, Krishna rolled over from his position on the floor, peering up towards the couch, his voice a bit gruff based on his level of physical discomfort, "If you needed anything, you should let me know. I can get it easier than you muddling about."

Sekani paused, mid bite, and looked down to his lounging kirin-friend. Friend... now there was a word. His own blue-haird bonded only knew him somewhat longer than Krishna. Living was very easy back then: Sekani annoyed the grump and they would have some tat-a-tat until it dissolved into some hodgepodge where he couldn't even remember how they had arrived there. Of course, there were some points where Sekani honestly thought that the scaled yuniko hated him. And perhaps, sometimes, the other really did, but it passed.

Perhaps Sekani still preferred those times, even still. Light, inconsequential.

"Ah, I didn't want to bother you. I should know where most of this stuff is by now anyway, heh," he said, poking fun at himself with a grin. "Besides," he contended, plucking up another apple, "it can be fun to muddle about a bit -- it's like adventure!" Sekani took another bite of his apple while offering the new one to Krishna in a flourish.

"It wouldn't have been a bother," the Kirin stated quietly, untwisting his form so that he could rise from his position. His tail continued to move with unease, but he covered it by keeping his face and voice carefully composed. "After all, you are a guest."

He turned to face Sekani, a small smirk crossing his features even as he leaned over to pluck the offered apple away. "Besides... I'd have been far less noisy. You're lucky you didn't wake everyone in the house. How can such a delicate dancer be so clumsy in the kitchen?"

A purple eye twitched slightly in annoyance at Krishna's commentary. He thought his tail had even lashed a little. So a few knocked over pans and boxes equaled a twister over here? He should have thrown that apple at the bigot's head instead!

"I... I simply get very into my work! And we can't all be perfect all of the time, Krishna." Settling to take some sort of revenge, Sekani stretched out his leg and took a few pokes at the kirin's head. He meant them only to be annoying, and maybe show just how not clumsy he was.

Krishna opened his mouth to agree with the navy Yuniko. Most people could not be perfect all of the time. However, what he would have tacked on, only half-conciously, perhaps even barely verbal, was that Sekani was one of the few that he felt COULD be perfect. All of the time. In his charming movements, his playful cheer... even in his sometimes thick-headed naivety that led him into the wackiest of situations. Perfect, just as he was, good and bad.

However, none of these seniments bubbled to the surface because a hoof of burnished gold came to poke him in the head, and the instant rough surface hit soft rainbow curls, the kirin's eyes narrowed. He ducked before another strike could come and dove between Sekani's legs, staring up at the other Yuniko as he huffed, "Now, Sekani... this is going a bit too far, don't you think? After all... you would not appreciate it if I played with -your- most handsome feature?"

To prove his point, he stretched out a hand to stroke the base of the other's long ears. That would show him to disregard personal space rules!

The taste of sweet revenge was barely upon him before it was snapped away. A glare was the immediate reply, a reaction all set for a pejorative perry that was Krishna's battleground. (Ground Sekani never had the advantage on, though he did try.) What he got caught him completely off guard, so much so that he lost the grip on his half-eaten apple. Before he knew what was happening, a little noise -- something like a combination of purring and cooing -- had escaped his mouth. Though ninty-percent of his body was quite content, the remaining ten-percent was huffing in quiet indignity.

Krishna had also suspected that their verbal sparring had only begun, and he had prepared himself for the weak venom that the rune-covered Yuniko could prepare. However, the dulcet sound that filled his scaled ears was welcoming, not an attack so much as an invitation to continue with his actions.

A smile crept across his face, and the kirin leaned in, ignoring the half-eaten apple that rolled across his belly and onto the floor. "A weakness? How unfortunate for you, considering how obvious a target your ears are..."

What went unsaid, of course, was how adoreable Krishna found both the weakness and the sound that escaped Sekani's lips, the expression on his face as the minstrations to his ears continued. Strangely, though he knew he shouldn't, he felt... content in this moment. 'If this is the way things must be... it is not... so bad.'

It was terribly true. While Sekani generally loved to be doted on, there were a few places that could temporarily override his judgment for their own demands. Due to their size (and adorability), his ears were quite used to being tugged, tweeked, and pulled to certain degrees, but this was decidedly different. Actually, if this had been a number of other yuniko or a number of other circumstances, he would not have minded the special maneuver. This, however, was war.

Not to be too outdone, Sekani gathered his gumption and struck out in the only manner he could thing of at the moment: snatching Krishna's ears! He was not as kind, of course, and proceeded to tug them to the side in an impish attempt at retaliation.

Despite his appearance of controlled calm, Krishna could easily be taken by surprise. Whether it be a word, a movement, a situation... circumstances of conspired against him so that he found himself in positions he never would have thought possible. Falling in love with Sekani, he thought, had been the most awkward of these, spiralling from one fact to a thousand possibilities and consequences that he thought he had been prepared to expect. But that was before this.

Rough fingers were tugging. Tugging on his ears! If the assault had been from anyone else, he would have retailated with a punch or a bite, but against this foe? He was at a complete disadvantage now, because even as his tail lashed about in displeasure and his fingers fell away from their large targets, he knew that he could not fight back. Even if the navy Yuniko was to pluck at every one of his teal scales or yank on his rainbow hair... Krishna would do nothing to hurt him.

This fact settled over him, and his hands fell to rest on Sekani's slim shoulders. Golden eyes were still narrow, but his voice was low, "You've proven your point. You can let go."

His ears suddenly liberated, Sekani blinked as the attacking hands settled anew upon his shoulders. Could it be? Giving the ears a small wiggle certain of their freedom -- and satisfied with the result -- a wide grin spread across his face. He not only had won the confrontation, but had apparently also made a point. Not only was it rare for the rune-touched yuniko to have a serious "point," but even moreso was he able to get it across in a way that Krishna couldn't poke some holes in it.

"Victory!" he proclaimed, laughing a little and patting down Krishna's ears back into the wild rainbow hair. "That'll teach you to go for my weak spots." His brows furrowed with triumph, yet his mouth couldn't deny a less serious, though small, raspberry.

"If only I could keep you from attacking mine."

The words rose unbidden to the Kirin's lips, and he remained stone-still in his position. He felt safest there, staring at Sekani's chest instead of meeting his eyes, lest something else become discernable. Something that he knew would only strain their already taut relationship, something that would scare the navy Yuniko away.

With this in mind, he shoved Sekani against the couch, freeing himself from the half-pets to his hair. Searching his brain for something, anything to keep up the mood of the sleepover party, he wished that Delmor or his annoying dragon pet would pop on scene, providing some timely distraction. But, he was on his own. All on his own.

He gestured with a scaled hand, his voice louder, more even than it had previously been, "We could watch a movie, if you like. Quick has quite a collection, espcially if you like things with angels, demons, and the like. We have some board games too. Since we're both going to be awake for a while."

Sekani allowed himself to flop back into the couch without physical protest, but his brain quirked against the dour mood Krishna was in. And, as so often was the case, the emotion found its way to his face, resulting in a mix of a peevish look and one of curiosity. The other yuniko was certainly never the lackadaisical type, however something hovered at the edge of his thoughts saying 'this isn't correct either.' Stoic was a good description, yet this type of subdued felt almost... defeated as opposed to controlled. And Sekani was fairly sure it wasn't from the potent ear-trouncing he had just endured. Yes, something was certainly off.

Things have perhaps been 'off' for awhile.

"Maybe a movie," he said, shifting after a moment to look over the edge of the couch. A movie would be nice and distracting! Spying his escaped half-apple on the floor, he snatched it up again and checked for damage and dander. "Where does Quick keep them?"
PostPosted: Tue Apr 27, 2010 9:58 pm

Krishna ran a hand through his rainbow hair, still keeping his eyes off of Sekani for the most part, waiting for his response. When he heard the other Yuniko shift, along with his decision to watch a film, the tension built in his neck and shoulders evaporated. A movie would keep Sekani's attention away from him, help him to concentrate on a story more than the awkward scenario that they had just escaped from.

He rose from his spot on the floor, slipping into his role as host, easily responding as he looked up, "She keeps them on the bookshelf near the computer desk and--SEKANI, DON'T EAT THAT!"

The Kirin snatched the half-eaten apple from the other Yuniko's hand, his golden eyes narrowing in distaste as he stared at the faint brown coloring that had appeared on the bitten portion of the fruit during the time that they had been... "conversing." He shook his head, the irritation in his voice more directed to the offending fruit than to Sekani, "It's been on the floor... it's dirty. You deserve better--take mine. I haven't touched it."

"I could have eaten around it," Sekani replied, eying Krishna and the intact fruit with some disdain. He misinterpreted the irritated lilt coming from his friend, which added to the uncommon edge on his carefree personality. Nothing seemed to remain fun anymore, little thoughts bothering him like gnats -- perhaps the best proof that it could not be all Krishna's fault. Life could have been sanding away at the edges for some time, he realized, because it was a little silly to be worked up over an apple. And yet, Sekani was not a yuniko to deny overt instincts, no matter how apple-related. "It's a waste." He stood his proverbial ground in that moment and made a reach for his apple.
