User Image Doto was not in the mood to play with his brothers. In fact, he was not in the mood to even be near them, let alone have to deal with their idiocy and inane attempts to garner the attention and approval of their father. As far as Doto was concerned, they would do well to keep their games to themselves. He was not interested in playing and pretending. He wanted real adventure, real trouble, real danger.

And he didn't want to get sat on by his father for stirring it up.

So he left the den early in the morning, before his parents rose. His siblings, if they had been awake, had not bothered to stop him. He wandered off and took time to himself. The introspective the silence of the morning allowed was fantastic, and he was able to analyze not only his own character, but those of his family members in relative peace.

Walking slowly through the plains, his eyes closed, the quiet, strange black cub was not anticipating any sort of company, though he kept his ears perked forward just in case something crossed his path.

User ImageOhh...what was this? A cub off alone? Well that wasn't any good, now was it? Cubs should be kept home, safe and snug, where no harm could come to them. A pity this one had wandered so far off. Hak'Zhakuu roved his eyes over the skyline. No, no one there except the cub. A sigh. Well it was up to him then. He was the mighty paw of providence.

With the silky sounds of fur and honed muscles the blue lion slid from his seat on a high rock, landing gently on the dusty ground. He made no effort to conceal himself, and approached the cub head on, head high with an air of aristocracy. A benign smile parted his lips over his white teeth and he placed himself in the general path of the cub.

"It seems that you are rather far from anyplace. Are you lost, young one?" He asked, looking about again. No one still. Perchance the cub has been sent to assist me? Or is this pure chance of fate? He worked the will of his God, whom freedom had granted him from his tormentors. This chance encounter had some purpose, he was sure, even a minor one. He just had to trust in himself, and his purpose, and Providence.

"No," Doto said shortly, opening his eyes and not bothering to hide the irritation in his glare. He looked the large lion over without interest, sneering as he turned his head away in indifference, "I don't live very far from here, and I know where I'm going. Why? Are you lost? Desperate for company, so you come talk to a little lost cub? Or maybe you're just a good person, looking to help. Whatever. I don't need you, either way."

He flicked his tail, red eyes fixed on the distance. Prowling by the lion without a hint of hesitation or intimidation, the small black and white cub decided the conversation was over. Of course, he held the hope that the lion might pursue him, simply because Doto never liked missing a chance to explore someone's character. He was not a good creature, and only wanted to know the things he found most important: things he could use against someone later.

Friends, favorite activities, deepest beliefs, life goals, fears, weaknesses: everything played into some plot that Doto created in his sleep. He dreamed about mastering others, forcing them into submission to him, and breaking their spirits with the things they most cared about or most feared. Though, he had no illusions about his own prowess, and knew he was no match for a fully grown lion.

Still, in his head, he could defeat anyone.

Ah, the child had such spirit! But it was a poor show of manners. He took one step after the cub, long legs bringing him even with the smaller male in that one move. A second paw was placed gently on his tail, halting the little one. "My my. It would seem your family has either been lax in teaching you proper manners, or that you're of the wild spirit." He chuckled, unoffended. "Come, you really should be getting home. What if I were of the villainous sort, and stole you away from them? Surely they would be quite bereft. No I must insist you direct my to your home so that I can return you properly."

He smiled down at the devilish little cub. Or was that a smirk? It was hard to tell. One this was for sure though, this lion wasn't going away. The thought that he very well could be just that 'sort' and really take the cub, but he did not seem to have the powers he'd seen in the other juvenile he'd encountered. Unless such a feat were exhibited, he had no reason to take the fellow. Yet at least.

A fly landed on his side and in a flash his tail had whisked it away. His eyes stayed fixed on the cub, solemn but approving, in some way, though possibly disconcerting with one red and one gold. He seemed content to wait for the cub to consent. He really was in no hurry for their little encounter to end.

Red eyes watching the unfamiliar lion impatiently, Doto was not amused when he was suddenly stopped in his tracks. Standing, as if made of stone, he simply waited for the older lion to release his tail. He looked away from Hak, keeping his eyes ahead of him now as his irritation mounted. A creepy little cub, his aura was thick and volatile, as if his body was oozing the anger he was slowly collecting, the longer he was kept from his path.

"If you stole me away, I'd just slit your throat in the night," he said impassively, tail flicking under the others paw, just once, "or I'll make you want to bring me back. But why should I take you to my den? If I know where it is, I'm perfectly capable of getting back there on my own. You would just be excess weight, and might just slow me down. Besides, I'm not going home yet."

"Get off my tail," he ordered, his tone not changing for the monotone of his last speech. He turned his head toward the blue adult, his nose curling in distaste that he did not bother trying to hide. It was lions like this that deserved the fates thy inevitably met in his day dreams. Self righteous, and apparently propelled by that ideal to impose his will on others, this stranger had not made a friend in Doto.

The distressing aura the cub was emitting seemed to break over Hak'Zhakuu and roll off as easy and harmless as water on a giant stone. "My my, such volatile thoughts from one so young." The casual, kindly manor of the adult suddenly vanished, replaced by a sort of looming menace. "Perhaps I should tug out your claws before I whisk you away, and blunt your teeth on stones. Would you like that?" And he was all smiles again, calmly trying to persuade the cub to return home.

"Ordering your elders about is a quick way to make enemies, little snake. Openly showing disdain won't get you anywhere. And besides," The cold grin came over him again. It seemed the inner Hak'Zhakuu had been stirred by one who seemed so outwardly similar to his inner self. "It's much more fun when you treat others like kings, and slowly point them to their own ruin. Who has made you so angry, little one? A friend, perhaps, or family?"

He sat then, settling beside the youth. For a moment he kept his paw in place, and then with what could almost be called a shrug he released the cub. He could always catch him again if he felt so inclined.

Doto eyed the stranger at his threat, not looking scared, but genuinely surprised. He hadn't thought the other a particularly menacing creature, but then again, he hadn't given him much of a look. Doto had been focusing on getting away from him, or poking fun at him, but now he saw that there was some small modicum of danger here. Piqued, he flicked his tail once it was released.

"I'm not angry," he said evenly, turning to look at the adult lion better. He sat down, holding himself straight up, red eyes examining the blue lion patiently. He sensed now a malevolence in the creature that he had missed before, these new words of Hak's bringing to light different, interesting patterns in what were deceptively soft green eyes.

"I just don't tolerate lesser beings," he said with a potent flick of his tail, "weakness of any kind. Generosity, curiosity: randomly starting a conversation with someone you don't know. They all strike me as weakness. A need for company, a need for something to engage in. Whatever. I prefer to be by myself, watching and learning. If someone is meant to be ruined, that's their own problem. If I want to ruin someone, I'll do it actively. but only if I want to."

Aaah, so the boy was not afraid of him, but rather curious. That would be more unusual if the being in question was an adult, and not a cub. Cubs by nature had a skewed sense of what they should be cautious with. Or maybe it was adults with that skewed outlook.

His own red and golden-olive eyes met Doto's ruby ones and he took a gentle whiff of the air. He could smell other lions on the boy. He really had a family then. What the cub went on to say next was rather amusing, and rung true with Hak, and he chuckled darkly. "You have half of my heart, little savage one. There are those that deserve ruin in the world. Few know that better than I. You are still so young, I would say too young to think on such topics, but I cannot say I disapprove."

"I don't think I'm so young," Doto said, trying not to sound defensive and failing. He puffed his chest out, frowning impassively as his eyes flashed. Sniffing, he did not let his eyes wander from Hak's as they met. Flicking his tail again, one of his few ticks, he shook his head.

"I just think differently than those around me, and it makes me think about it all the more. I met one friend who knows what I'm thinking, and she makes the days worth dealing with, but mostly I'm stuck with idiots who don't understand the minds their given, much less how anyone else's works. That's what I like to know about."

He narrowed his eyes at Hak, tilting his head slightly to one side, "yours, you said yourself, is like mine. At least half way. Your heart. The same thing, I think, in this sense. Why do you know that people deserve ruin so well, since few know it better than you?" He wasn't hesitant in his direct question, even arching an impatient eyebrow.

"All creatures think they are not young. You're the oldest you've ever been, and that makes sense, but when you consider the scope and age of the world...You have parents who are older than you, and they had parents before...when you consider the scope and age of the world, you are indeed very young, physically, if not mentally." Filled with self-assurance Hak'Zhakuu did not bat an eye at the cub's little movements.

"How so, little one? You are quite astute for your age, I admit, but that doesn't mean those around you are any less intelligent. As wise and aware as you are, you are not happy, you've just admit it yourself, but even with their ignorance they find bliss. Perhaps they know something you do not, of a nature different that what you would think would be considered 'knowledge'. You say you want to know how the minds of others work? That is good. Those you see as fools now may simply 'think differently'."

Hak'Zhakuu's face remained passive at Doto's question, seemingly unclouded by the rancid thoughts of his past. "For some, ruin is a requirement. A necessity. For acts they have committed, past and present, they are fated to pay with their lives, or worse their minds." He paused a moment, then went on. "But not all who find ruin linger in its clutches. When some hit bottom they can only go up, and some with such alacrity as to soar to the heavens as if on the wings of a god themselves."

"I don't really care how old everyone else is," Doto said blandly, "or how young I am in comparison. I don't need to rationalize my existence against anything else. I know what I am, and what I feel like. I just don't feel as young as my brothers act, is all." He shrugged, watching Hak with growing interest. He had an interesting way of looking at things, to say the least.

"I'm happy enough. I just can't do anything because my mind is growing faster than my body, I think. I'm just limited," he sighed, his mind flicking to his imagination and the goals he had created for himself, for his future, and with his one friend. Shaking them away, he blinked at Hak as he explained himself, frowning at how many words he used to say nothing at all.

"So someone did something to you?" he asked bluntly, arching an eyebrow, "or you did something to someone, and got ruined? You're looking for those wings? What is it? I'm not really one for all this flowery vagueness. If you don't want to tell me anything, that's fine. I'll just get on my way." He stood, planning on doing just that, though he felt great hesitance in his little limbs. He wanted to know more about this strange creature, and knew that if he jumped ship too soon he might never see him again.

Hak sighed. Such a cub this one was, claiming he felt older than his siblings, but then he went and displayed a bit of childish impatience like this. "Suffice to say I was ruined, and it was not my destiny. Ruined trough someone else's power. But now, because I was not supposed to be ruined, I have risen again, and have been granted the power to bring those that wronged me to ruin. I hope that is a simple enough answer for you."

He let his mind wander a bit, waiting to see if the cub would stay or not. From his demeanor it was clear that he didn't care one way or the other, and that it was all Doto's call on if he would choose to stay and hear more.

Eventually he made another comment, letting a bit of his more angry side out. "You are too hasty. If you really want to enjoy life, you must savor it. Even chance meetings mean nothing when rushed."

"Sounds interesting," Doto said, staring up at the large lion with keen interest. His red eyes were swimming with malice and thought, his imagination running away with him as he tried to see what had happened to this relative stranger. Of course, he had no real clues, so he had the most fanciful, intense imagery in his head as he thought on Hak's past.

"I don't believe in chance meetings. And I don't think I'm rushing anything. If something is supposed to happen, it happens, right? And I'm not supposed to change how I act to get fate to give me something meaningful. If I'm too impatient then I guess I'll just have to wait to enjoy life until I find someone worth hanging around for," he grinned, sitting down pointedly. He swished his tail.

"But I know how to enjoy things. When I get to play, I take my time. It just doesn't happen very often, because of my family or my dad. But I do know how to savor something, I promise you that," he frowned thoughtfully, "my name is Bi'ndoto."
PostPosted: Fri Nov 21, 2008 8:48 pm

Sigh. Such a cub, such a cub. So very defensive! Well no matter. Hak nodded slightly at the formal introduction. He must have struck some sort of chord with the boy to warrant a name. He expected no less though. "Bi'ndoto." He repeated. "Interesting name. You say you have a large family? They must be quite the handful."

He secretly thought that he would have done well with a large family. For ages it had only been himself and his father, and then, finally, Mersay'Diis. But that had been long ago. "You've said before that you don't get on well with your siblings. What makes you dislike them so? You claim they act young, but they are young. What is wrong with being what they are?" He imagined the cub didn't like to 'play' they way most would, given how he spoke of it.

Oh, goodness, he'd forgotten to offer his name in return...well maybe he would give it up later.

Doto snorted.

"It's not that interesting. I was told it mean 'in dreams'. I think it's stupid. Thanks for not telling me your name, though. I guess I don't really care." He flicked his tail, red eyes flashing as he heaved a grunt of a sigh. He didn't want to admit that he was beginning to like this strange conversation he had found himself in, so he tried to distract himself with this stranger's questions.

"They're boring. They don't think," he said, his mind turning to two of his brothers in particular, "one of thinks he can talks to trees and rocks, and the other wants nothing more than for our father to notice him. My father is my rival, and I don't need his attention. I need to be better than him. And all my family. If they're happy living that way, that's fine. But I won't let them drag me into it. I need more than that."
