What does everyone think about EMGs? I play mostly rock or metal.

Try out a guitar that has them before buying them. Active pickups have a significantly different sound from passive ones.

My preferences would be seymour duncan (JB series)...
But EMG's are ok for distortion...the clean tone on them sucks though...let me guess...you're planning on getting 81/85's...

I was thinking about it. But i was looking for the pick ups to make Dimebag Darrell tones and sounds.

They are expensive and suck at clean sounds, so get a guitar built for Metal or whatever music you play, always go to usually Guitar Center and ask what is best for that type of music...

then get the bill lawerence picks . The real ones , not the seymore ones . The real ones sounds really good and tight with the low end too .

i don't recomend asking someone at guitar center unless they obviousely know what they're talking about. i went in the other day and the guy did'nt even know what d addario 9's where...
and i am a HUGE fan of EMG's mainly for the clairity on high gain distortion and the versatility for ultra clean tone. otherwise for metal i would say di' marzio's are dank.
