Wandering aimlessly in the dark, Axel's eyes had been quite adjusted to the darkness for a long time and have gone many days without seeing daylight. There was nothing that could compel him to return to the world he has shunned. The face of an all too familiar soquili flashed in his thoughts and Axel gritted his teeth angrily. What was wrong with him? The last time he had seen her, she was with her new mate and their newly born children. His anger drifted into a sort of sad and loneliness. Axel was happy for her... But what about himself?
That was when he left that world and disappeared into the depths of the darkness. There was no reason for him to leave as there was enough food maybe even more then enough to feed him. But it was clear what kind of toll this environment would take on a soquili that wasn't bred for it. He should have stayed and watched over her children... No, he could have never done that. He would have guarded them with his life but what about his sanity?
Shaking his head, Axel's hooves continued to move without having any direction in mind.

Dark.
It was the only word that echoed in her mind. In a way it seemed almost ironic to her. The person she searched for had the same name though she seemed to hate him much more then the blackness that surrounded her. She much preferred the sun's light to this but the longer she wandered about the more she became accustomed to it.
She was, however, really only able to wander. Her night vision was quite a bit less then perfect. She was only able to pick out vague shapes in the distance only when those objects were only a few feet from her. Her eyes narrowed as she tried to pick out a path, a river, a stream, anything really.
Her eyes widened slightly alarmed when she discovered something else was moving about in the darkness with her. She tensed slightly not liking these conditions at all. Not wanting to give off the impression of weakness, however, she relaxed into a casual stance and called out, "Who is out there?"

Axel didn't really expect anybody else to be out this far. He had been wandering in this hell for days and who knows if he went into a circle or just went deeper into the wilderness. He didn't care to think about such frivolous things anymore. He no longer had anything to worry about while he was out here. Before he had come to this place, his night vision wasn't that good but his body had adjusted and he could see the mare clearly in the distance. He didn't really want to approach her. The last thing he needed was to meet another mare. But he could tell that she really couldn't see him that well even with his fiery mane and tail.
"Only your dreams and wishes." He said answering her question. "They've abandoned you the moment to entered this hell." There was slight contempt in his voice but it was hidden well and only the most observant would be able to catch it. All in all, Axel would continue to be bitter and cynical about life.
Staring at her intently, Axel wondered what she would do. After so long alone, he had almost forgotten what other soquili were like. Maybe he should just greet her and then go on his way.

At first she thought he was saying something a bit more hopeful then the reality. What kind of person could tell her that her dreams had abandoned her? By his voice she determined that it was indeed a stallion. A stallion with a poor attitude who clearly didn't know her. Her eyes narrowed as she began her slow approach forward a distinct fury floating about her.
"I am afraid you do not know who you are speaking to, stranger." She said trying to maintain a calm tone. "It is dark here but it is in no way hellish." As she approached she was able to pick out a few details. Such as a particularly bright mane. She stopped and stared at him for a moment blinking slightly. "It is simply, dark." She finished finally and firmly despite her rather weak response.
She did not know if she was seeing the same place as he was. Perhaps there were horrible things lurking in the shadows that she was fortunate enough not to see. Whatever he was seeing, however, was no excuse for him to speak to her in such a way. Really there was never a reason for anyone to speak to her in such a way if they were outside her family.

Axel just said things like that to put others down. In his current mental state, he really needed the boost. But the stallion couldn't help but chuckle loudly at her response. She sure was a feisty one she was. "Oh? I don't now? It doesn't take much to understand another's mind. You wouldn't be wandering around here if you hadn't already lost all of your dreams and wishes..." And there was a definite bitterness to his voice at this point. He never had dreams or wishes and was convinced he was empty inside. He had no heart and therefore was destined to hurt all of those around him.
"And it's pretty hellish after wandering about here for a few months." Axel chuckled once more at her comment about how it's just dark. The darkness could symbolize many things so it indeed was very dark. He didn't move from where he had stopped. He didn't have anything against her per say. He had something against the entire world if you wanted to put it that way.
"Maybe you're just one of the lucky ones then." He spoke very softly and she probably wouldn't have been able to hear him. He couldn't help but wonder what Wica would think about this predicament.

She shook her head. "I am wandering because I simply do not know where I am not because my dreams have wandered off." She corrected a delicate brow raising slightly at his next comment. Months? He had been wandering for months? She could not grasp why anyone would do such a thing missing the symbolism entirely.
She tilted her head to the side and continued to stare at his spiky headed self. "Why?" She questioned feeling rather curious about him. Was he really that lost that he would wander about for such a long time? Perhaps he had nothing else to do. Neither seemed very likely.
"You are...quite odd." She ruffled her wings slightly her earlier temper ebbing away. Her curiosity over something was often the best tranquilizer for her flare ups. He was indeed very curious even if at the same time she wanted to knock him about a bit. For now she would refrain but if he continued to speak to her in such a way she would find no reason to control herself.

"I see." Axel felt that she was rather lucky. He was stuck in his own little world and he knew that the rest of the world was going to go on without him. "Why to which statement. I'm here because I want to be. This place is exactly like the pit inside of myself called my heart. There's no way I belong in that world out there anymore." He wasn't pitying himself but he would rather her understand why he was cynical at this point.
"You're the odd one. I don't know how you could wander here on accident. It's not exactly like you couldn't turn around and come back the way you came. You were curious to see what utter darkness in the middle of the day looked like right?" The stallion looked down to the ground and wondered where this conversation would take him. He should probably leave her soon or else he could hurt her too.
Even though he had resigned to being heartless, Axel did quite have a heart. Wica had given it back to him and then he ripped it to pieces. "I don't mean to pity myself. Forgive me." He turned around to leave knowing that she probably wouldn't follow him after the comments he had said to her.

He wanted to be in such a dismal place? More specifically he wanted to be there because he did not feel like being in the world outside? She laughed softly for a moment feeling somewhat amused by this. "And why would you want to belong in such a place? It seems to me that it would be better to stand above that world..."
"And no, I am looking for someone. I thought perhaps he would come to such a place to hide. He is quite the coward after all." She could not deny that she was rather intrigued by it but she would not admit it.
She tilted her head a bit more, the end of her cross knocking against her leg. She stiffened from the motion before figuring out what it was. She adored her cross but at points it scared her senseless. "I see no reason to forgive you for doing something so silly." She was completely serious and also very confused. He was talking strangely because he was pitying himself? Yet he called her odd for wandering in to complete black.

Raising a brow, the stallion was done with what he needed to say. He didn't want to persist with the conversation and he was done venting. It was nice to talk to someone else for a change. "I don't choose this place. It's just the way it is. And I see. I hope you don't get lost in the process." Axel was definitely not in a good mental state and it's obvious that he hadn't talked for anyone in a long time as he was all over the place when he spoke.
"Coward? That's a pitiful trait and I feel sorry for whoever you are referring to. Why are you looking for this person?" Axel considered himself a coward for not owning up to his feelings but he was beyond emotions right now. "Do you think you'll find him?" He wanted to ask her questions about her problems so that he wouldn't think of his own.
Pausing, Axel turned back around and approached her. Even though he could see her quite clearly she wasn't sure if he could see him. Nobody had seen him in months but he looked quite the same as when he came in to this forest. He tossed his fiery mane tiredly and observed her with his emerald green eyes.

She chose to make no comment on this. She could not be sure if she wouldn't get lost getting out. She imagined looking for the light would serve as a good place to start, however, she could not see the light where she was. She frowned thinking about this and decided that she would simply wander until she stumbled upon the exit. It was almost the same way as she had gotten in after all.
Her eyes flashed and a small, wicked smile replaced the frown on her lips. "Dark Mousey is a thief and it is my duty to stop him. I will make sure he is grounded." She said with a nod of her head and a small foal-like giggle. Her laughter stopped abruptly as he began to move closer.
She tensed slightly not entirely sure what to expect but made no motion to flee. The closer he got the more she was able to see. His mane was not just bright it was a lovely fiery red, blood red was how her mother would describe it. The shape it was made her wonder if her mother's thoughts would be more correct. Spikes. Bright fire red spikes and equally bright eyes.
She stared at him for a long time taking in whatever details she could take in. While it was more then she could see before it still was not everything, she was sure of it. Now she had a bit of a dilemma, the first of it's kind actually. She had no idea what to call him. Ordinarily a name would pop into her mind almost immediately but she had a few right now. She settled on the one that seemed most fitting deciding that if she wanted to she could change it later.
"Fire Spike." She said with a nod of her head giving no hint as to what she was speaking about.

"A thief?" Axel hadn't heard that term used in awhile. There weren't many thieves around here as justice usually prevailed. "I see. I wish you luck with your quest. What's he done to deserve such a fate besides being a thief of course." He knew quite a few interesting soquili but he hasn't kept in contact with them lately.
Looking her over, Axel hardly addressed those by their names even his close friends. She had wings like he did and her mane was such a golden blonde. Tilting his head curiously, the stallion wasn't sure why she called him that. "Is that supposed to be a nickname or something?" Chuckling softly, Axel was surprised. That was probably the first time he had laughed in awhile. Others really weren't that bad...
Throughout there conversation, Axel hadn't thought about Wica at all. That was... a pleasant revelation because he really needed to get her off of his thoughts.

She nodded her head. He was in fact a thief. She stared at him for a moment with a slightly shocked look on her face. "That is enough is it not?" She asked. She had always thought it was. Not that anything he would say would change her mind on the matter but she had never really been questioned on her motivations before. The only other thing she could think of really was that her mother disliked him and her father was on shaky terms. That was all that was needed really.
Again she nodded. "It will be your name for the time being." She confirmed. She supposed it could be considered a nickname, however, even if she knew his real name he would still be referred to by the name he decided. The moment one was called by their true name by her it was not a sign of affection as some would think. It was a warning to stop whatever they were doing or face their fate.
She smiled at him pleasantly taking his laughter as a sign that he was not going to hurt her. "I think it is suitable. Fire Spike." She nodded to his mane to indicate just where she was getting this name from.

Axel liked to justify things and he didn't think that just because someone was a thief, meant that they was a bad person. "I think that doesn't necessarily mean he's a bad person. He could be a thief that takes from the rich and gives to the poor." Shrugging slightly, Axel didn't like judging others.
Chuckling again, Axel didn't care what she called him. Formalities were just that and really unnecessary. "And yes, it does seem very suitable." The stallion fixed his eyes on her and wondered what was going on in her head. Before his mental collapse, Axel was good at understanding people but maybe he lost that ability.
Axel had nothing better to do and talking to her gave him something interesting to do for once. Hopefully he hadn't missed too much while he was gone.

She snorted in response. "I highly doubt he does anything of the sort." She turned her head upward in an effort to declare this matter closed to discussion. In reality she had no idea what he did with the things he stole. Based on what she had heard from her mother, however, she could determine that he wasn't stealing for charity. She kept this information to herself not wanting to give him more of a way to question her.
This was her duty, her mission, her fate. Nothing would change her mind. Well, nothing with the exception of her parents. Her eyes drifted down to her cross. She stared at it for a moment listening to him before lifting her head.
"I am glad you agree. I imagine it would be unfortunate for you if you did not like your name." She gave a happy bob of sorts of her head before looking at him dead on. She narrowed her eyes slightly to speak a silent message that said 'because I wouldn't change it even if it was hated'. In fact, in some small way she enjoyed her names more when it irritated the other involved or at least this was the case with most.

"It's still a possibility." Shrugging slightly, Axel just realized how silent this forest was when he was alone. Even the animals didn't dare go this far into the woods. It was nice being reminded of why socialization was important.
And he definitely knew what she meant by her mission and fate. Axel had known his fate from the moment he entered this world. There was no uncertainty that he would wander around, a lost soul, until he died and left the world. There was a definite pessimism in his thoughts.
"Oh? Really now? I couldn't persuade you in any way?" It was weird talking to others again. Months out on your own really changed you but Axel knew it was for the better. Axel enjoyed the silence but it definitely was lonely. At least he didn't have to complain about the heat anymore since his coat definitely absorbed every ray it could.
