The cool winds of the night blew over matope. A flash of light and with it rain. Water was Huddled up next to Lost Lights leg. Water was trembling. Lost Light liked the rain and the thunder reminded him of his dream. Flashing lights scared many animals in the swamp but it made Lost light feel homey. He looked around with his golden eye. He was under a tree further away from the water than usual. Their were some slugs swimming around in the damp mud by Lost Lights feet. He called out to see if any kimeti were close.

Sleep-Bringing Flower had spent little time in the waking world, but she had already been able to establish what she liked and what she didn't like. She liked the flowers in the early morning when they had yet to show their faces. She liked the sound of the cicadas over the warm hum of the swamp. She liked trotting through the mud on a particularly hot day. She did not, I repeat, did not like when everything above seemed to break, and brought cold water over the marsh. She liked it even less when the sky cracked and flashed, roaring angrily at every beast below.
Sleep was huddled beneath a leafy bush, but it could not protect her from everything, a stray drop plopping messily onto her snout every so often. When the lightning flash she withdrew, hiding from the thundering beast beyond the clouds. She already had a story to fit this sort of weather, and it wasn't a very pleasant one. It was after a loud crash of thunder that she heard a Kimeti call, not so far from where she was - and it sounded masculine.
She scurried from under the drooping leaves, mucking up her underside in the process, and let out her own trilling call. She'd rather not be alone during such troubling weather.

Lost Light herd the feminie response to his call. It sounded frightened and lonesome. He quickly kicked the mud and slugs off his feet and looked around. He knew many kimeti were frightened by this weather. The crackles of thunder were loud and the hard rain hit Lost Lights back as he searched around. He could barley see in this heavy rain. He let out another call. Water at his side the hurried around. Both Water and Lost Light soaked by the heavy sky, the slippery mud made it hard run. Lost Light tripped and the sky was lit with lightning. He saw golden scales that matched his not far away. He trotted towards the filly. He said, "I'm Lost Light. What's your name?" In a loud voice to overcome the sounds of the storm.

The pink filly's ears flickered and pulled back in response to another furious clash of lightning. Hey veridian eyes flashed, fighting to see past the curtains of rain as a Kimeti just about her size came near. She was both relieved and concerned, eyelids blocking off the sky and the ground as she strained to make sense of the white and yellow blur making it's way toward her. A rush of red at the colt's feet caught her attention, she had yet to see a foxbun, and was intrigued by the unusual critter. As the colt's voice met her ears, Sleep stepped forward, weary of the rain, but more weary of being alone. "Lost Light? I-I'm Sleep-Bringing Flower." She called, inching through the slippery muck below. "I'm glad you found me!" She called over another rumble above.

Lost Light thought that the filly had a very pretty name. He was very happy to have met someone to wait out the storm with. Even though he like the rain and thunder, he doesn't like being alone. He saw her surprise when she looked at Water. "thats Water" Lost light said in a soft voice, now close enough not to have to scream. He guided Sleep Bringing Flower to a mound of rocks that they could go under. He began to move the bigger rocks with his his feet so he would have a place to lay with Sleep Bringing Flower. He asked her if she was afraid of storms. He asked sincerely, so he didn't come off sounding superior.

The little pink filly smiled awkwardly at the foxbun, it was rather cute. Trailing closely behind Lost Light, Sleep made her way carefully across the mud and slick reeds, nearly slipping twice. Luckily, she was quite agile, even for a young one. She marveled at the Colt's ability, he seemed well at home beneath the rain. She was suddenly curious of his naming dream, though she kept that to herself. Ducking beneath the safety of the boulder, Sleep should her head slightly. "Not scared...just...I don't really understand why the sky does this. Is the swamp angry?" She appeared somewhat frightened at the idea, peeking up at the grayed-out sky.

Lost Light wondered about the question that Sleep Bringing-Flower had brought up. He wasn't sure but he wanted her to make her feel safe. He told her that the mother of the swamp was dancing with the sky. The thunder was their steps and the rain their sweat. Water marveled at Lost Lights calmness and security. Water was also scared of the loud thunder. Lost Light gave Water a reassuring look, and Water stopped trembling. Lost Light stood up and smiled at the filly and asked her if she would like to join the mother of the swamp and the sky in their dance. He bent his right front leg as a gesture of respect to the filly before their dance.

"Oh...a dance?" The filly gleamed, still shivering from the shaking of the sky. "I get it!" She chirped, looking up at the sky between flashes. Suddenly the booms became the beats of eager feet and the flashes became laughter. Sleep brought her focus back to the bi-colored colt, suddenly feeling embarrassed. She nodded, ears flicking excitedly. She had never danced before - but it seemed like a simple enough idea. The pink filly mimicked the colt's half-bow before nudging him toward the open, sprinting back into the rain playfully, hopping about in a half-trot. "This is...this is fun!" She called over another roar of thunder, accepting these sounds as a form of primal music.

Lost Light smiled he liked being with his new friend. He followed her out into the open where the rain beat down upon their backs. Lost Light danced around expelling roars of happiness. The thunder clapped as the kimeti danced. Mother swamp and the Sky reincarnate in the two young kimeti. As Lost Light and Sleep Bringing Flower danced he brought his head close to hers and smiled as he said, "You can call me Flicker." He was happy he had met another friend that he could give his nickname to. His eyes were lit up by lightning as he said these words. He looked into the young filly's eyes and chuckled.

Sleep giggled, her laughter a cricket-like trill. She nearly slipped, yet managed to hop up and kick, turning it into an inventive dance move. She sprayed mud with every jump, staining her pink coat, only to have the cold rain flush it away. She shivered every so often, still adjusting to the various claps of thunder. She trotted circles around the colt, smiling back - "Ok, Flicker. You can call me Sleep." Sleep arched her neck to look behind the colt, motioning to his foxbun. "What about Water, can he dance?"

Flicker chuckled when Sleep asked him if Water could dance. Flicker looked at Water, Water shook his head and sat down where it was dry. Unlike the kimeti he didn't think thunder and lightning was fun. Then Flicker mimicked Sleeps awkward dance move and laughed. He tried to do it again and slipped. Flicker, out of breath, laid in the wet red mud. He laid on his back letting the rain hit his stomach. He chucked as more thunder clapped and the rain continued to fall. Flicker looked at Sleep who was still trotting around and then flipped over. He motion to her to sit with him in the rain.

Sleep nuzzled the wet earth gently, unsure. "Isn't it mucky?" She asked, clopping about on the squishy surface, making wet popping sounds with each lowering of her hooves. She giggled, shrugging gently, and plopped her rump onto the mud. The light-colored filly glanced up at the dark sky, suddenly feeling at ease. "Thank-You, Flicker." She managed, subdued by the comfort of another Kimeti. "It really isn't very scary...it's just another story." She continued her dreamy stare, ears still flat against her head in the event of another painful boom.

Flicker was caught by the pretty filly's gaze. Locked in a gaze with Sleep until a burst of thunder clapped and Water jumped on Flicker. Flicker caught off guard toppled head first into the deep red mud. He regain his stature as Sleep giggled. Flicker was smiling brushing the mud from his eyes. He turned to Water who was shivering and brought him close. Water then went over to cuddle with Sleep. Water was immediately comforted by the females touch. Flicker Looked at Sleep and said "The storms kind of fun isn't it" and smiled waiting for her response.

Sleep let out another harp-like laugh, nuzzling Water gingerly. He appeared just as frightened as she at first. "Don't worry, little one. It's just a dance." Her voice was breathy, both strong and maternal, as she comforted the foxbun. Her eyes returned to Flicker, shadows playing on his pale coat. The spring-time filly nodded in agreement, kicking loose red mud as she shook off the droplets nesting in her coat. The frigid rain dispersed like a flock of birds, dissappearing in the muck below. "Yes. But I think I like the sun better." She suddenly grew quiet, fond pieces of her naming dream casting warm hues across her eyes. "Yes. I most definitely prefer the sunshine."

Flicker agreed, Storms were fun but only every once in a while. He looked up at the black sky and remember the blue hue that it held a day earlier. Then he looked at Sleep whose fur matched the sky at its brightest. Flickers tail swung from side to side as the sky and the swamp danced. He walked over to the dry spot under the arch of rocks and called Sleep over. He shook his body and the water flew off. He was still a pretty damp so he shook his body again. He motioned to Sleep to join him in the dry rock covered ditch. His golden eyes met her green eyes as her looked at her.
