Art Room Rules and Directives
Welcome to the Artist's Gallery! A place where, like in the art based forums on Gaia, you can come, discuss and show off your KH art! biggrin
We want lots of our creative members to show off their skills by making threads for themselves and their work! This place will serve to help provide discussion and critique.
Make a thread for yourself for others to see! Oh, but don't forget to check out the guidelines of this subforum! wink

Making your own thread!
The very purpose of this forum is to show yourself off with the pretty art that you have put online! Here are steps for beginners on making their own threads and maintaining them. smile
This is mostly optional to read but it can give you ideas on how to create efficient gallery threads.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Making your own Art thread - Part 1
Before starting your thread, it's a good idea to already have a few images of yours online. For that there are a few host sites that can easily do the job. smile
Photobucket: What photobucket is is a storage system site that lets you upload images directly from your computer. You have to make an account on photobucket before being able to use it though. It's not very difficult and it provides you with URLs that you can use to post.
I use photobucket and find it's pretty convenient. It also provides tags for any internet posting. site URL: www.photobucket.com
ImageShack: I've personally never used image shack but I assume it works in the same way as photobucket. You'll also have to sign up to make your own account.
Site URL: www.ImageShack.com
Deviant Art: That site is a gallery all on its own. This is another place you need to sign up for to have. You can't directly link images or post them on the threads directly but you can link your account and invite others to see. That place is actually well organized and very popular so you can have more then just the guild members comment on it. smile It's definately worth a look.
Site URL: www.DeviantArt.com
Making your own Art thread - Part 2
Once you have your images ready then it's time to make your thread! xd So that people will know it's yours, desperate names like: COME SEE! MY ART ROCKS! is a bit unnessasary. After all, we're in a guild, there is alot less competition for attention since we're not open to all of Gaia.
Something simple like: Bella's KH Gallery or Bella's Fan Fiction artwill work well too. ^_^
A good way to start out your thread is to reserve your first page to tell everyone how your making your gallery. If you're putting up your Deviant Art then ask for comments on the selected art or on the art in general and let the discussion fly!
If you're posting art directly off photobucket, then using your first post to describe the art you have up and what page they're on will also help guide others to your work. Thumbnails are also an excellent way to keep your art organized and easy to find. Number the amount of pictures you have up in a list so others can find them without a problem. Organization is the key to a good thread. smile
Again, these are suggestions, make your thread how you want, make it simple or pretty or flashy! What ever suits your fancy, just remember that this is *your* space, so make it suit you. biggrin
Nude art
Although we appreciate tasteful nudity we have to post a warning to the people who wish to post it. We want this guild to be PG friendly so we have to be careful of the content posted in the forums.
If your art displays tasteful nudity there are 2 things you must do. Please follow our instruction for a pleasant guild life. ^^
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Things to do 1 - Post the warning on your thread title or on the page the picture is placed on. Ex: Warning Nudity 2 - Make a thumbnail of the image displaying a non sexual area or link it.
This way, people wandering around don't have to catch it by accident.
We're not doing this because we hate nakedness... but rather to be responsible in the way we show it. Some people here might have restrictions placed on them for this sort of thing and we cannot blatantly defy their parents without us knowing it. I personally enjoy nudity in art because nothing is more interesting or beautiful and structured then the human body but we must also be responsible and not throw it in others faces if they do not wish it.
Explicit art
Tasteful nudity is one thing... but do not confuse the two with explicit content! Content displaying *cough*dirty*cough* activities is prohibited.
Kissing, hugging, laying down in provocative ways is allowed because the activities are not in any way showing the "carnal" activities that we don't want to see. But any showing of "organs-at-work" will be immediately deleted.
As has been repeated, we want the guild to be for everyone and not everyone is at the age to understand or even wanting to see such things.
Please, please try to keep a clean mind in here.

Types of threads SPAT, ACT & Old/inactive threads
Single Post Art Threads (SPAT)
What single post means is, lets say, for example you only want to show one picture and one picture alone. Well, what you can do is make that post your permanent picture post thread. You can edit it as many times as you like when ever you feel like changing the picture and only discuss that one image instead of holding a gallery with all your work.
We prefer the gallery setting where people can can have the option to choose among your art to discuss but these threads are allowed as well.
Most single art threads are however, more prone to being abandoned then the gallery threads, so the moment you feel like you have nothing else to post, write: "trash" in the title so we know to delete it.
Very often we search for the lack of activity in a thread to delete it but putting that in your title will definitely help us out.
The next time you have new art to show, you can make a new thread.
Gallery threads have longer lifespans and will most probably get more attention then single posts but sometimes, a person doesn't have the time to draw as mush as they'd like and just wants to show their recent work. If your that type of person, then single art threads are for you.
Art Community Threads (ACT)
If you don't want to post something that involves just your art you are also entitled to have a community of artists post their work in one single thread. These have to be the most exciting of threads since many artists can come together and show off their work in one place.
For so many artists, once again it is a good idea so put up on the first post the names of the artists, the pages they are found on or even links to their DA.
Collab threads are equally community threads so others can come to your thread to discuss the lineart, coloring technique, ect. You can even discuss storyline (if it's an OC) or their personality.
You can make your thread as detailed as you like if you're working on a manga/comic/Fan Fiction project or a continuing storyline with a character you have in your thread.
There are no limits to discussing art and the more people that come together, the more grand it will be!
Old/inactive threads
If you're going to abandon your thread or are planning to leave the guild, it would help us out a lot if you simply put: "Trash" in the title. That way we can know to delete it since it is not being used.
This is just something you can do as a final bye-bye in case you're planning on leaving. We don't want you to go... but we understand that sometimes one has to. cry

Posting on someone else's thread
The basic rules apply when posting on someone's thread. These are just basic codes of conduct on Gaia and we urge you to respect them.
1 - No trolling, flaming or blatant disrespect of the artist! If you don't like their artwork then you should say what you think can be improved instead of just saying: YOU SUCK!
That's called harassment and a repeat offender should be reported to us ASAP.
2 - No spamming on someone's art thread. We want the guild to be a no spamming zone. It's also incredibly disrespectful to post your link because you're in the avatar arena instead of commenting on the work. Guys, just imagine if this happened to you? I know I'd be upset.
If you're talking and it comes up, then that's fine. But don't just go to a thread SOLELY to put that up.
I think everything else is pretty much permitted as long as it's discussion. Once again, these threads are to help artists so if you just want to chat with them, we have a forum for that. smile
Art Commissioning/Begging for art
We are an art discussion forum yes, but we are not the Request and Commissions forum. If you go to a thread begging for art, then that might as well be spam. Instead, ask the person if they have an art shop or are taking commissions. If they answer no, then no is no.
Do not repeatedly ask them for art. It's rather annoying when you've said no the first 20 times.
A tip for artists who want to avoid such trouble: Post it in your first page or title. This way, you'll avoid all those annoying questions.
Guild Art Shops
If you are interested in making a shop exclusively for the guild, then there is no problem with that! This might even thin out people who request art in art discussion topics. If you create a shop, please be sure to post here with your banner. We'll be happy to host it on the first post of this thread. smile

Picture of the Month
Every month I will choose an image to be featured in this section for all to see! My criteria will involve originality, style, execution and effort! The image has to be NEW and has to be posted in either the last week of the previous month or the first week of the month to be chosen. It has to also be KH themed.
If you win, you'll receive 1k from me!
So what are you waiting for? Get drawing and maybe you'll find yourself here next!

The Twilight Schemer And again, the third month with Roxas winning the picture of the month. sweatdrop I honestly liked the layout best. lol It could have been Sora in the middle too and I would have still liked it. The funniest part is that Roxas is not my favorite character. lol
