The world of Pokemon.

Ten-thousand years later.

In a single, catastrophic week, all hell broke loose in the pokemon world. A large number of pokemon suddenly turned wild, hostile. Many pokemon turned on their trainers. Some whispered that it was the work of Cipher again, turning them into shadow pokemon, and indeed, they were much like shadow pokemon. But others whispered that they were different, somehow. That there was something more leading them. Many of these pokemon, suddenly turned savage, experienced physical transformations, as well, mutating; some became larger, stronger, and uglier. Darker. In the first two days of the attack, news footage showed a man being brutally mauled by a massive black Gyarados. While Gyarados has a reputation for being nasty, this one was nastier, with bigger fangs than any Gyarados alive, and wickedly gleaming black spines covering its body. This footage, and more like it, was displayed for several days on the news.

And then communications went down.

In the streets, people witnessed even more alarming events; humans now marched with the mutated pokemon, directing them, and the pokemon obeyed. These humans didn't act like others, similar to the pokemon. Some said that they were possessed by something else. One old woman screamed that they had given themselves over to the Void, right before she was brutally cut down by a group of the odd humans.

Then came the bombings; desperate to neutralize the attacks, but futile in their efforts, the government launched missiles indiscriminately into overrun areas. Militia men fired into crowds of people, killing innocents in their attempts to drive back the enemy. The entire world descended into chaos.

In the space of one week, the entire human race was nearly wiped out.

Of the few hundred thousand that remained, many were possessed by this "Void" that was now widely known and named as the driving force behind the attacks. Those that weren't grouped together into compounds, walling themselves in thinking they would be safe. Hardly. It just made it easier for the soldiers of the Void to find them and get rid of them.

Months went by, and few remained.

Twenty-thousand made a voyage to the Tree of the World's beginning, led by Mew itself, but in a human disguise granted to it by Arceus. When the Twenty-thousand were gathered within the tree, Mew did what it had been sent to do: it cleansed the rest of the world. The pollution, the debris, the wreckage, the Void soldiers, and those humans who, facing the bitter end, were now turning to the Void themselves; everything was destroyed, and the world was remade. And the twenty-thousand humans left now had the job of reshaping it and forming new partnerships with the remaining pokemon, to perhaps one day return to what had once been.

And the spirits of the Void--the creatures that Arceus had known were hiding within the bodies of the corrupted humans and pokemon--were sealed within a tree that was hidden in some far-flung, remote area. An entire other world rested within this tree, and here the spirits were imprisoned, loathing Mew, loathing Arceus, loathing their cage, and longing for a way to escape.

Ten-thousand years went by; the old world had been destroyed, and was eventually forgotten. None now remained to tell the tale of the world as it had been before. Mew vanished. Other legendaries were rare to be seen, eventually becoming something akin to myths or deities that were prayed to in shrines, but not seen as physical beings of any sort.

The world was a different place now. With no pokeballs handy, pokemon generally roamed freely, though apricorns were discovered to be a handy substitute when needed. The sword and the shield replaced the gun and the helmet. Cities were developed, but no electricity was available, and running water was a recent innovation, brought in by systems of pumps and aqueducts designed by architects. Houses in the cities were built of stone; houses in the countryside were built with wood and bricks. People farmed for food. The main mode of transportation was either a dirt or brick road and a wagon pulled by pokemon, or riding a flying-type pokemon. The realm was now known as Aldea, and its people as Aldians. Its government was with a monarch known as the First Lord at its head. Melton Septimus, the current First Lord, was growing old; the Vincent Septimus, his heir, had been killed in a battle with barbarian invaders. The succession, quite frankly, was in question, and one knew that many of the High Lords schemed to replace him.

Settlers in the steadholts on the frontier lands, however, had anything but the succession in mind. They had their hands full dealing with the wild things in the wilderness they lived in. And rumors from the Calderon Valley, just one of Aldea's many wild frontiers, told of a strange, dark presence.....of bizarre and savage creatures haunting areas of the forests.......of something devilish brewing.

Still other rumors told of miracle workers walking amongst the people, and many whispered that perhaps the Legendary Pokemon of old had been incarnated into human beings and had come to help make the realm a better place. Indeed, it seemed that the Legendaries were beginning to resurface, and that Arceus had given them human disguises to allow them to roam freely amongst the people, able to change from human to pokemon form and back again at will. But why? Certainly not just to "make the realm a better place" as some believed; perhaps they were investigating?

Something was certainly brewing, and one never knew when the cauldron might suddenly boil over.

RULES

-D00d, L33tspeak!!!-
No. None of that. I would greatly prefer it if you had some literacy before joining. Yes, this is a fairly literate roleplay which means you have to post in the English language. Yeah, I know it's hard, but good grammar and spelling won't kill you. If you feel you can't do that on your own, please use spell check. I'd also ask that you try to make your posts longer than one line. I mean if you're interacting with someone or if nothing's going on, then shorter posts are fine. STILL, I don't want to see someone posting five to six paragraphs and then getting an itty-bitty smudge in return. Also, make sure we know who is talking.

- That thing called ET-I-KET, because it applies to roleplaying too -
No taking control of other people's characters. That's called God-modding, and I'll beat you over the head with a frying pan if you try it. Be nice to the other roleplayers, and use tact as much as necessary. Hint: it's always necessary. If you have a problem with someone, then tell me. Don’t just start mouthing off at them.

- Rule=Law-
Gaia's TOS does not allow anything over PG-13. Thus, your posts should not depict anything more violent than what you might see in a movie like the Lord of the Rings. No overly-graphic make-us-all-puke posts.

- AWWLOVESKISSES-
Romance is good. Romance is fine. But again there's a TOS and it says specifically ‘nothing over PG-13’. That means no cybering. Kissing's fine, but no super-duper-make-out sessions.

- ZOMGZORZ Supersparkly Princess III with angel and demon blood and god-powers -
No angels, demons, vampires, nekos, or any of that stuff. This is a pokemon roleplay. There are people, there are pokemon, and there's the Void. Nothing else! If you don't mind, please use a picture for your character or a detailed description. One that looks vaguely medieval since this is a swords-and-horses fantasy and pokemon roleplay. It shouldn't be all that hard. If you want to play a Legendary pokemon, I ask that you also play another type of character to keep things balanced.

- Reading is healthy -
Please read the post labeled ‘The World’ so you know where you are on the map. I know its tough to be reading so much but you can make it to the end.

- Send a PM, please -
Pm me your profiles with the PM title, "Men plan. Fate Laughs." Its just to make sure you read all the rules on here. Also, I'm setting a limit of three profiles. See, you are half way done here.

- I AM ZEH RULER, KIDDIES -
I can add to these rules anytime I see fit. If I make a suggestion to improve your profile, call you down for something, or tell you "no" at any point in time don't throw a hissy-fit.

- WOH, WHAZ THAT! -
I'm willing to make exceptions to the rules but you have to show me you deserve it. Some rules are all-powerful so don't try it. Any of you make me think you are breaking a rule, I'll wack you with a frying pan. Fear the Frying Pan!

The World

Here it is, my cruddy map that I made with paint. It's made of fail, isn't it? Consider the locations as almost precise but not quite approximations. Aldea Imperia, all of the cities, villages, rivers, and bodies of water are labelled. This is a region of the kingdom of Aldea. One of three actually. I'll show the other regions later on as the Rp progresses. The light blue is freshwater, dark blue is salt water, and green is everything else. By everything else, I mean a mixture of woods, grasslands, occasional farm, ect.

The kingdom of Aldea, in which humans and pokemon co-exist in a swords-and-horses fantasy setting. It is a new and mysterious place, as far as most of the roleplayers reading this are concerned. So this post is where I show you a map of the world so far, tell you about its government and locations, and make a list of important terms to know.

- Government -
Aldea's government is made up of one First Lord, 3 High Lords, and the Senate. The First lord acts as a monarch. He passes declarations, commands the military, and is the leading figure for all things important happening in Aldea. The High lords take care the smaller matters in their provinces that the First lord doesn't have time for. They are kind of the nobility for their area. The Senate drafts bills, keeps the First lord's budget in check, and have no real power.

The Capital city is where the First lord lives and most senators are there as well. The High lords live in the place of their choosing of the area under their rule. Each city and town has a temple honoring each of the legendaries.

- Locations -

Daekoji & Titania
The two cities of Darkoji and Titania are located on opposite sides of the Silver river where it enters the ocean. The funny thing is that the two cities used to be one city but a dispute caused it to split into two. The High lord had decided to make the city his home but there was bickering over which side of the river he would live on. Now he stays in both cities for six months to keep peace between the two. The city of Daekoji holds the temple of Dialga. Titania has the temple of Palkia.

Ceres
The village of Ceres is known for its agriculture and that's its chief export. The people of this small village are also very festive. They hold celebrations in the spring and in the fall, for harvest and planting season. Ceres has the temples of Celebi and Shaymin.

Typhoon
Typhoon is located on the northern shores of Aldea Imperia region. It is mostly a trading and shipping town for goods to come in and then leave. This town has only one temple, temple of Giratina.

Alto
The town of Alto is very ocean-oriented, located on the northern peninsula of Aldea Imperia. Alto is very unique because of the Sicilian architecture of the town. Travel inside the town is accomplished mostly with small boats rowed through canals rather than streets. The one temple serves dual purposes for both Latios and Latias.

Kalare
In the southeast is the heavily-forested village of Brego. It is located on the shores of Gale Lake, making its living on fishing and woodcutting. There are three temples in this village: The Temple of Raikou, the Temple of Entei, and the Temple of Suicune.

Gale Lake
Gale Lake is home to many storms that roll in off the ocean to the east, thus giving it its name.

Silver River
Many myths and superstitions surround this river, which runs from its source in Gale Lake into the ocean. The area around the Silver River is heavily forested and some whisper of strange, supernatural events that occur in this area. Strange lights over the river give rise to ghost stories of all sorts.

PROFILE SKELETONS

These are the profile skeletons. We have three of them: one for Void Soldiers, one for Legendaries, and one for Regular Humans. Remember that if you wish to play a Legendary, you must also play a character in one of the other two categories.

About the Roleplaying Sample: unlike other roleplays, I will not make you type out a big long paragraph that'll only be read by one person and then discarded and forgotten. Oh no, for your roleplaying sample you can do your introductory post for your character but it must be for the character you're sending in the profile for. If you send in profiles for multiple characters, then you only have to send in a roleplaying sample for one. Once your profile is approved, you can re-post the roleplaying sample in the thread as your intro. Thus, your hard work doesn't go to waste.

- Regular Humans -
These are the normal citizens of Aldea--the farmers, the steadholders, the soldiers, the nobles, and so on. Yes, you can play a High Lord or a family member of a High Lord, but try to be logical about it. Obviously a High Lord would probably not be under twenty years old.

Username: (Who’s pulling the strings?)
Name: (And who are those strings pulling?)
Age: (no limit, though they obviously can't be three hundred years old)
Appearance: (give a DETAILED description, or a picture. Preferably, a picture, an anime, fantasy-looking picture. )
Gender: (male or female)
Occupation: ( ex. farmer, High Lord, assassin, courier, etc. )
Pokemon: (Your party pokemon. NO LEGENDARIES. They need nicknames and they need genders for those that have them. No levels, please. )
Personality: (Please work hard on this. Make it unique)
Bio/History: (At least a paragraph please)
Likes: (What do they enjoy?)
Dislikes: (What do they hate?)
Fears: (What scares the pants off them?)
Other: (Anything else?)

Roleplaying sample:

- Legendaries -
There will, obviously, only be one of each Legendary in the roleplay. Make sure when applying for one that it isn't already taken. Remember, you must have a separate character of another type in order to be able to play a Legendary. It's just for balance. The Legendaries have been given the ability to transform from pokemon to human and back to pokemon at will by Arceus.

Username: (Who’s pulling the strings?)
Legendary: ( Which Legendary are they, obviously. )
Name: ( They have a human form they can take, and it needs a name. Whether it's the main name they use in the Rp or simply an alternate name, they need to have one. )
Human form: (give a DETAILED description, or a picture. Preferably, a picture, an anime, fantasy-looking picture. Also if you'd like, you can put a picture of their Legendary form.)
Gender: ( Male or female. Yes, the Legendaries will have genders. )
Pokemon: (Yes, Legendaries can have pokemon, since they have a human form. However, they can't have other Legendaries in their party, and their pokemon still need nicknames and genders. No levels.)
Personality: (Please, work hard on this. Make it unique)
Likes: (What do they enjoy?)
Dislikes: (What do they hate?)
Fears: (What scares the pants off them?)
Other: (Anything else?)

Roleplaying sample:

- Void Soldiers -
These are the baddies of the Rp. The human Void soldiers. They are possessed by Void spirits, can command other Void spirits and possessed pokemon, can use the powers of one type of pokemon, and transform into one type of pokemon. By type, I mean fire, water, etc. So mayhaps your void soldier manipulates fire, can use the moves of fire-type pokemon, and can turn into any fire-type pokemon at will. Their party pokemon don't have to be possessed, they can be normal. The Void spirits possessing these humans appear in random locations, having somehow escaped from the prison within the tree. They do not know the tree's location, but they know they'd like to find it and figure out how to destroy it and release their brethren. The humans themselves retain their free wills, so whether they aid the spirits within them or simply use their power for their own gain is up to you.

Vincent walked down the dirt road with a dark scowl on his face heading towards who knows where with his weavile,Devil, by his side.As they walked Vincent kept peering off at the nature around them and when they got further down the road a boy bumped into them and Devil started growling, ready for a fight;however,Vincent looked at the battle ready weavile and shook his head and the weavile understood and stopped growling."Go now."Was all Vincent said to the boy.The boy nodded with a terrified look on his face and turned around and ran away.Vincent and Devil then kept on walking.

Mikhail peered around the wall of the alleyway, obscuring his small, abandoned basement where he lived. He motioned for his two Pokemon--a Sandshrew and a Flaaffy--to stay down and quiet behind the filthy window, then crept stealthily along the wall and peered carefully into the street. His murky green eyes carefully observed the perimeter, trying to see if it was safe.

There was a small breeze rustled the leaves in the trees. An Absol nudged Latios, who was in human form, trying to waking him from his slumber. “Ranger here and you should wake up, Mithro. We should get moving soon.” he said giving him a nudge tough enough to wake him.

Mithro groaned as he sat up from his grassy bed in the shade of a tree. His red eyes struggled to focus the midday sunlight. Once they did, he was jumped by Mist, the playful Eevee. He caught her laughing as she licked his face. “Good afternoon to you too.”

Ranger was a little amused by this but still picked Mist up by the scruff of her neck to set her down on the grass. “That means you too.” He said giving her a stern look before licking her face.

"Okay.” She said giggling. Mist knew he was still the loveable Absol as always.

Mithro stood up looking down onto Alto from the grassy hill they were on. The flooded streets glistened in the bright sun as people went about their business in town. Ranger had suggested earlier that they should check out this city first if he wanted to search for his true self. The only memories he had were of the past few days with the pokemon around him. Ranger had even given him the name ‘Mithro’ because of his amnesia. The only shred of his past that he had was the fragmented images that found their way into his mind every time he slept.

The sound of marching…pokemon and human alike running…the word ‘Void’ repeated by a different voice every time…and the most vivid image of the red and white eon pokemon, Latias. She held her one of her hands to him but she was getting farther away. Just before he woke up, she called something out to him but was unable to hear it.

A voice interrupted his thoughts as he was pulled back to reality. “Daddy?” said the voice of a small Ralts at his feet. A hint of worry showed on that cute little one.

Mithro put on a smile as he picked up the Ralts onto his shoulder. “I didn’t forget you Lloyd. How could I forget such a cute face?” he joked. Lloyd only hatched a few days ago. Since Mithro was the first thing he saw, Mithro was instantly granted the title of ‘Daddy’.

Ranger and Mist led the way as they began walking to Alto. They stopped for a moment as Ranger called back “If you want to find more about that dream of yours, we should look here. It has a temple for the Eon pokemon, Latios and Latias.”

Mithro quickly closed the distance as they trekked down the hill. A sense of adventure and fear gripped him. It was the first step into discovering himself but there was some worry over what he might find.

Vincent and Devil continued down the dirt road which would lead them straight to Alto.As they walked over a small dirt hill in the barren road Vincent saw a couple of figures walked down the road too.The weavile noticed them too and he started getting ready for a fight.Vincent looked at the weavile and said calmly with a slight stern tone,"No Devil we will only engage if they fight us."The weavile nodded, slightly dissapointed, and calmed down. The 2 of them headed down the road headed in the traveler's direction.

As Mithro caught up with Ranger, he noticed they had stopped and were observing some travelers heading down the road. Mist, being as hyper as ever, decided to play with these new strangers and started running at them. Ranger quickly chased after her trying to get her back. Mithro just stood there looking at the whole scene with a confused look on his face.

Shayla wakes up at the crack of dawn, just like a flower would open its petals. She picks up her flower, and tucks it safely into her hair. She looks around, smiling at the sight. Frost and Ninian, her travelling partner's Glaceon and her Leafeon, were cuddled up together in a ball. It was quite cute to look at. It was similar with the rest of her and her travelling partner's pokemon. Side by side, Marth the Gallade and Fletcher the Mightyena, dozing against a tree. It was obvious they had kept watch over the group overnight. Tied to a tree were Ember and Speed, the two Rapidash that were used for travelling.
Overall, it was a peaceful morning. When Shayla got up she heard a ruffle of feathers and she raises her arm, Zac landing on her forearm. It was surprising that such a small girl could hold up the Pidgeot's weight, but then Shayla was no ordinary girl. In truth, she was Shaymin in human form, free to change back to Shaymin whenever she wanted to. But she didn't want to worry Benjamin, her human travelling partner. He still didn't know her secret, why the flower in her hair never died, and why she loved flowers so much. Shayla looks at him, his chest slowly rising and falling. Zac flies off to the nearest tree, obviously not getting the treat he wanted.
"Come on now, Ben, its morning. We need to get going to Alto," She says, nudging him with her foot. He snorts, and rolls over onto his side.
"Shay... it's only sunrise..." He mutters, and she nudges him again.
"Early bird gets the worm. If I were you, which do you prefer: sleeping about a mile off the trail so we don't get robbed, or sleeping in an inn, where we get warm food and soft beds?" Shayla replies, walking over to wake up the pokemon.
"Whatever... I hate it that you just have to get going at sunrise," He complains, getting up. The saddles were still on the two Rapidash, all they had to do was get the pokemon situated, particuarly Shayla's Mightyena, since Shayla didn't believe in using Apricots, which was another trait she had, being a pokemon herself. Ben used Apricots sometimes, usually only having Marth inside his, because having a Gallade as a passenger on a Rapidash was just too hard.
An hour later, the duo was ready to set off for the final stretch on the trip to Alto. Frost and Ninian were both perched on their trainers' shoulders, while Fletcher was ready to run alongside the two Rapidash. They kick their Rapidash to a trot, then a full out gallop, heading to Alto.

Vincent and saw the traveler heading straight for him."Devil stand by in case of hostility."He said. The 2 of them stopped walking and the weavile stood ready in case the traveler would attack them,Vincent however just there calmly, waiting.

Meanwhile, there were a couple of figures hiding up in the treetops, trying to watch out for their most recent target. They had recently accepted a contract to retrieve something from deep within the forest, and they were told that it was in here. "Well, this is a waste of time" the boy whispered, his two swords in his hands, just in case. "Where on earth is that herb?" The second figure, a Weavile, was too busy listening to the sound of the wind, perfectly calm and collected. "Hey, Dark Frost...are you actually listening to me? Oh I get it, it's the wind again, isn't it?"

Mist began running around the feet of Vincent and Devil hoping they would play with her. It took a bit for Ranger to catch up but quickly growled at the youngling. She stopped and walked back with her ears hanging down.

Mithro walked up to these new travelers. "Hello." he said with a wave. "I'm sorry about that. Mist here is a bit hyper active. I hope she didn't bother you too much."

Ranger picked Mist up by the scuff of her neck with his mouth. Mist put on one of those adorable faces making her seem even cuter than how she was already.
