thats the summery of my life. i have only had one other freind who was a wiccan and they taught me alot but one day they just stopped talking to me and ive never seen or herd from them since...

after that ive been bombarded by christians and baptists trying to con me into their cult all the while hiding their hipocrasy and bullshit behind a friendly smile and a welcoming pamflit (spelling?).

ive tried researching on my own but i can never find anything, the sites i find always want me to order stuff or send them cash, the library here is full of books on jesus or the dhali lama, the exchange had one book on the wiccan religion but when i finnaly saved up for it it was gone, replaced with more jesus books.

well enough of enane rambleing chat all you want i guess...

paganlibrary.com is a good site. They have reference materials as well as a forum.

And christianity and all the Judo-Christian religions are just that. Religions. Not cults. Your as bad as some of the christians that call wicca a cult. STOP IT! You don't like it, leave it alone. Ignore it. Maybe part of the reason you're getting bombarded is because you have such a closed mind, and your being taught a lesson of some sort. No one will get anywhere if we don't stop bashing eachother.

As far as books, if you can't barrow them from the library, or order them from the local bookstore, you ever thought of amazon.com? They have almost every pagan/wiccan book that is currently in print.

There is much to be learned from studying the religions of others as well. If one expects those of other religions (namely, biblical relitions) to not be ignorant of Paganism, one had better not be ignorant of those religions in question. Otherwise one is as bad as they are by bashing (or making any comments, positive or negative) a religion whilst remaining totally ignorant of it. So go read some of their books. You'll get some of them off your back at the same time, while loading your brain with beneficial knowledge of religious diversity.

As for finding books on Paganism (Wicca or otherwise) go sit and read in a local bookstore if they've got some chairs. I make trips to B&N frequently for just that purpose.

Agrees with that is said above. Hehehe steeling a phrase from my college, "this is no place for hate". I often attend church and bible study group to learn more about the bible and the christan religions. Though always keep your comments to yourself when disagreeing to what they say because well it is there church and they are entitled to there own opinions and truths too. Who knows maybe the christans are right. The more we promote open mindedness and learn about other peoples religions the more we will be an example for others and create change.

On the other subject, check out the link list we have there are several good websites and there are also links to online books that are free.

I definitely don't hate Christians, I want that to be known, but many of them are kind of bothering me lately. I didn't realize how pushy they could be until I decided to let people know I'm Pagan. So far, I have tried to go to church and study there, but it seems that I'd have to go under cover. None of them will outright say "Come to our religion, here is a pamphlet" but they are telling me that they will pray for my soul, and they hope I find the light so I don't go to hell. So I just dislike the fact that they think they MUST be right for some odd reason.
On the other hand, that is only some Christians. It seems the less devout ones (my friends) carry the Universal Unitarian (sp) view that all religions are a path to the same deity. Or they at least accept the fact that no one knows for sure who is right, or if any of us are. *shrugs* I just wish I could find a church to study at where the people didn't "weep for my misguided soul" (yes, someone actually said that)

Christianity is not a bad religion in most sense. Their morals and values are usually very good.

Still, I can see why some people may be rubbed the wrong way. Christians (among many other monotheistic beliefs) believe that if someone doesn't follow their way than they are doomed to eternal suffering. Now imagine if they truely believed you will die and live in eternal pain? If they are truely Christian and they persist in trying to convert you, then it only shows that they really do care about you.

That's my way of looking at it. With that in mind, it may get annoying at times for people to think they must pray for you or remind you of their path, but I say just put up with it. So long as no one's LITERALLY twisting your arm, there's no reason to get mad over a cult/religion for trying to desperately convert you WHILE respecting your rights.

I look at it that way, too. The few churches I've been to are wonderful places for Christians, especially kids, but frustrating nonetheless. I do appreciate, though, that they don't want my soul to suffer the eternal fires of Hell. But the way I interpret everything they have been trying to tell me is: "I love you, and I mean this in the nicest possible way when I say, 'Join me or suffer!' biggrin " So you can see why I have mixed feelings.

The only Christians that do that are the crazy fanatical ones like the group from Kannsas who protested at a gay soldiers funeral. Some of the God-Following religions are cool and have open minds while others are insane and fanatical, preach their heads off at you to join their religion, and tell you that you are worshipping Satan and going to hell. The last bit happened with me four years back. Minus the going to hell bit.

And I am possibly tiredly rambling right now. sweatdrop sweatdrop

Yeah, I've found that they tend not to argue as much if you know enough about the Bible to intelligently question the stuff that is contradictory or doesn't make sense or whatever. I have a Baptist husband who doesn't even try anymore because I can always bring up something that he can't answer.

I don't get that much lipat school, but at 'church' that my parents make me go to, its all you're going to hell because you worship the devil, well you can't win everywhere, I'd rather have friends at school and none at church than vice versa
