I'm an artist, and I have several blank wooden skateboard decks left over from a selling of custom decks at the annual art show of my high school. So I was mulling over the idea of making custom decks again, when the idea of a Steampunk styled deck came into my head. Though I don't have much in the way of brass (nor do I think it would be very functional to have metal parts on a skateboard deck where they're not supposed to be), I do have several tubes of metallic inks and finishes, and lots of rust-n-dust colored paints and inks that I could use to paint gears and cogs on it. I've left out a 6 inch square in the center of the deck (while the surrounding area has grip tape) to leave space for a carved image of two gears working together. I'm hoping to finish this over the next few days, but what say you? Good idea? Suggestions that would make it better?
Edit: By the by, I don't skateboard, myself. I tried once, and stayed mobile for a grand few seconds before chickening out and jumping off.

if you made it I'd buy it. I am an artist as well but I couldn't bring myself to commit to painting on a deck. sad
But if YOU did I'd buy it. If the art was awesoem. Show us some please!!
And I do skate too. I have a fish long board by loaded. It's simple and green But it's fantastic for flying down the boardwalks and to school.
