Pokemon Coalition Concept (Name pending!)
Okay I couldn't resist XD! With the recent influx of pokemon based soas i thought it might be fun to have a coalition based on the concept of pokemon. This is just a bare bones thread at the moment I am up for any suggestions / ideas ^_^
Looking for a couple of Co-Owners Please leave a note if interested.
This will be a coalition meaning all soas will be welcome be ye bird, dog or moggy.
Please note that this coalition is NOT just for pokemon based soas anyone can join so please do!

The Idea
Okay so the idea is this, the pride will be set up like this
There will be a champion and elite four that run the coalition as a council
Below them will be eight tribal leaders
The tribes will be split in to species, with one soa of that species being the leader.
Each tribe specializes in what it's leader is best at for example if the leader is a specialist in beauty the tribe will have an affinity towards the beauty side of things however that doesn't mean there aren't fighters / Olympiads amongst the tribe it just means that that tribe does very well at that particular event. A Tribe may also be heavily affiliated with healing, teaching, protecting etc. All affiliation means is that that tribe is particularly good at that thing and they produce the best of that particular talent.
Each tribe also has an affinity towards one of the elements. This element has to be picked by the tribe leader, please state which element you would like when applying for this position! (examples of these would be water, grass, fire, dark etc) Each tribe has a different element.
The tribes element also dictates which gods they prey to eg a grass based tribe would prey to the earth gods.

Small predators (maned wolves, jackals, servals, birds of prey, snakes, ratels)- leader : -Element: - Specialty :
Herbivores (hares, klipspingers, waterbuck, normal birds, genets)-leader : -Element: - Specialty :
The tribes come together on a regular basis to battle one another, compete in Olympics and beauty pageants, for fun and to earn the right to be tribal leader. Tribe leaders can challenge the elite four to a battles/races/etc to rise up through the ranks. They also gather together to listen to stories, trade remedies and for teachings.
When the champion becomes too old to rule he/she is challenged by one of the elite four to become new champion and he or she takes place as a sort of adviser (think professor oak XD!)

Please note these will all be given African titles I'm just fleshing out right now.
Shujaa (Champion 1 possition) - The head of the coalition, he (or she) oversees everything he (or she) is the one whom decides who wins a battle if it seems to be a stale mate etc. The champion rules the coalition until he or she is too old to rule any more then he or she is challenged by one of the elite four to take their place as ruler. This means there is no heir to the throne the strongest, most strategic and smartest soa rules the roost.
Hususa (Elite 4) - The four council whom oversee all battles/ competitions and help to keep the coalition in order.
Akida (Tribal Leaders 8 possitions) - Tribal heads, they run their tribes and are allowed if they wish to challange one of the elite four to rise to their position. Tribal leaders may also be leaders for other reasons, for example they could be strongly intelligent , amazing healers, or athletes not all leaders need to have battled their way up they could be very political.
Mwalimu (Professors unknown amount) - These are the elders/teachers of the coalition, well versed in battling, healing or protecting, or sometimes all of the above, they are very wise and are often turned to in times of need. They also often train youngsters in the ways of battling, though they do not fight them selves. These soas may also be those not fit for fighting due to injuries in battle or perhaps being disabled (blindness etc) so they teach others and are usually experts in most fields. Sometimes these soas havea specific rank eg professor of beauty would be Mwalimu Urembo
Mfisha (Battlers unlimited) - Soas whom have trained their whole lives to fight in the battle arena.
Kocha (Trainers unlimited) - These are the young soas in training the future, they take on their ranks at adulthood.
Nasi (Nurse joys healers - unlimited) - soas whom look after those injured in battles they are skilled at stitching up those whom have faught hard, they can also create amazing potions healing balms etc to revitalise an unhealthy soa. They don't battle they are purely here to heal.
Askari (Officer jennys coalition protectors / keepers of the peace- unlimited) - Though the coalition is usually peaceful, sometimes skirmishes break out within tribes and between rivals outside of allotted times, that's where these guys come in, they police the tribes and make sure all is well and quiet. They also patrol the coalition borders to make sure that intruders aren't there to cause a fuss. They don't battle they are purely in the coalition to serve and protect / keep the peace.
Olympiads (Atheletes unlimited) : Some soas train them selves in other ways, there are times of year when the soas gather in the battle pits not to fight but to show off their prowess in games
Urembo (beauty competators unlimited) : Not everyone loves to fight and that's fine! some soas are built for beauty and the coalition recognises this skill as an art form so they gather together to compete in beauty pageants.
Taifa (towns folk unlimited) these are soas whom don't have any particular jobs they are the hunters and nannys of the coalition.

Not sure where they will be on the map just yet but, the coalition will live probably on the edge of a jungle / forest with plenty of water, they will live in close knit communities coming together often to battle, there will be a large open area possible in a jungle clearing, which they will use as their battle field.

Customs
When a youngster hits adolescence they are encouraged to go out in to the world and return with knowledge of the outside along with some experience of places that aren't home. They usually return home at adulthood to take their place in the pride having had some adventures and gained new knowledge and experiences.
Beliefs
Beliefs depend upon the tribe. Each tribe is affiliated with an element and with that element comes a certain amount of gods. For example a tribe affiliated with grass / earth would worship gods of earth / nature. This will eventually be a list once the tribes have leaders and have decided upon their elements.

Lion gods
Leopard gods
Hyena
Hybred gods
Small Predator gods
Herbivore gods
Ceremonies
Small battles :: these happen often enough, they are battles for females, males, kids to train etc.
Ceremonial battles :: These battles are for titles.
beauty contest : the most beautiful soa gather to show off their skills and talents to win them selves places as the most beautiful soa in the coalition
Olympics : the athletes of the tribe compete to win various prizes in specific fields of exeprtise (swimming, climbing, fishing, hunting etc)
The Battle System
There is never death in battle, one wins one looses these battles can be feirce however there are healers in each tribe to care for those whom are hurt in battles.
Battles run by 2 soas getting together and battling it out using dice. (more to come on this later)
Familiars can fight in battles with a larger predator. They 'double team' with a larger predator and help the larger predator out (think pokemon diamond/pearl when you do double pokemon battles)
each soa species has a special attack which they can only use once in battle (for example cheetahs would be able to move out of the way of a lions attack or use a very swift attack, again these would be worked on and have to be realistic)
Other
This is a coalition which means all soas are welcome! You don't have to own a pokeSOA to join this. It can be a normal soa whom you just want to have be a part of the coalition!

Personality Lecky is laidback and gentle lion whom excelled in the battling arena as a youngster, he worked his way up through the ranks from tribe leader to elite four then eventually he became champion, he is a concious leader visiting all the tribes on a regular basis to see what they are up t and to offer his assistance and advice. Personality: Kusu has a bit of an aditude at times, and doesn't do well at hiding it. And doesn't take well to other felines flirting on her, she prefers to do all the flirting if she sees a male that looks interesting. But she doesn't always act like this, she can have her sweet moments. Mainly with those she lets get close to her, like Ngozi.
His personality on the other hand I havn't gave much thought.

If anyone has a fab idea for a history / beliefs system I would love to hear your ideas! Also any other suggestions to flesh out the concept would be loved adored and slobbered on in that order XD!!

Ahaha, love the idea, but I'm not sure I'm good with battles. Lawls. BUT if you need/want help with planning this all out, I'm totally down for it. I'm a huge pokemon nerd, so anything even remotely related is freaking awesome to me. XD I was thinking up my own thing, but you beat me to the punch so I'd love to join in on yours!
