The yellow and brown hyena frowned. He wanted to do something, but there was no one around. And he certainly wasn't going to do anything alone. That would be a waste of time. What would be the point, without someone being around to see it? Flopping onto his side, he heaved a profound sigh and dozed under the hot sun.
Grunting a snore, he tried to force the usual drowsiness he felt at this time in the afternoon. Unfortunately he hadn't eaten anything, so his stomach kept him far from comfortable. Sleep was not going to come easily. Irritated that he couldn't even take a nap, he curled into a tight ball and, covering his head with his paws, tried to pretend he was a rock.
Rocks didn't have to sleep. They didn't have to be hungry and too lazy to hunt. They just had to sit there. It seemed like a good enough life, as far as Sin was concerned.

Red eyes landed on the strange colored 'rock' as she studied him from a tree. Her tail twitched with interest at the Hyena. She'd seen packs of them travel before but never a lone one. Maybe he was ill. Curiosity finally won over and she jumped lightly down onto her four feet.
She padded over, making sure to stay slow and quiet. Once she was close enough she sniffed at him, keeping her distance should she need to run. "Are you ill?" She finally voiced, unsure if he was friendly or not. She was a wary creature. Not social in the least but if he was ill she could aid him.

"What?" Sin snorted gruffly, unraveling himself and spreading out on the floor. He looked up at the leopard with his chin on the ground, his expressive dark eyes exploring her curiously. He hadn't heard her coming, despite the large ears sticking up from his yellow head, and he smiled at how devoted to his character of a rock he had gotten. Rocks couldn't hear, after all.
"Yes," he said, lifting his head in order to nod it sadly, "I am ill. I've been plagued to live alone because of it, one illness garnering another. I have no pack, no home, simply because of it. Thanks for bringing it up though. I really do like talking about it."
He sat up abruptly, looking her over. She seemed nice enough, and he wondered if he should be more careful about lying to her. Of course, the idea would not lead him to actually stopping. He loved to tell stories, and create fake lives for himself. Even if it led him to trouble, he still found it more interesting than the sleepy life he really led.
"Who are you?"

She watched him switch positions and took another step back. She knew what those teeth of his were capable of. She'd just met him so she had no reason to doubt him so instead licked at her paw and started to clean her face, her tail curling around her feet. "Sounds like a personal problem to me." She says with a slightly arrogant air.
She stops in mid lick to stare at him with those piercing red eyes. The mark on her head made it almost look like three. "I? I am Oyalinka." She responded, eyes equally curious. Despite her rather rude comment before she turns her head, ears lifting. "Are you hungry? Or too ill to eat?" She questions. He doesn't have the smell of sickness on him so assumes he's better today then others.

"Well, yeah. Of course it's a personal problem," Sin scoffed, shaking his head and his long, broad neck so that his bushy hair flopped around. A small cloud of dust rose off him. "It's my problem, and it's personal. I'm glad you pointed it out, though. Who knows what would have happened if I had gone on thinking it was a public issue."
Grinning fiercely, not looking particularly friendly, he shook his head, "I'm not sick. Where did you get that idea? I'm perfectly healthy. But I haven't eaten anything in a while. So I could do with some food. Why? Do you have any? I don't suppose you're offering yourself up to be a meal, right?"
He wagged his tail listlessly, his eyes shining. He didn't meet new creatures enough, he decided. This was fun, and he should do it more.

The female paid little heed to his words. He sounded like a real smart a**. Her tail flickered as she gave him a bland stare. "Then you shouldn't be so keen as to announce it to those with bigger claws." She responded in slight warning.
She kept her guard but didn't move, hardly intimidated. The day she feared a ground locked mutt was the day that she would marry one. She snorted. That would never happen. So he was a trickster, fair enough. He'd won this round since she had believed him.
But this could get interesting. Those who did the fooling could be fooled back. "Well I do have some food..." She responded, her eyes lifting upwards. "Just an entire impala. Not too much for a hyena like you..." She responded padding off toward her tree. "However, I suppose I could give it to you..." She jumped, landing with ease on the trunk and scaling it. Indeed, there was a freshly killed impala.
It wasn't too far up, on the second or third branch. She was going to carry it higher but decided she'd eat it sooner then later. Her tail flicked and she pretended to nudge it off. Part of the creature now hung down, just out of the hyena's reach and she let out a gasp. "Oh dear, it seems to be stuck. Can you get it from there?"

Sinzia scoffed. He might have been a liar, but he certainly wasn't a fool. Shaking his head, he shrugged dismissively and followed her without much interest, watching her scale the tree with some envy. He was unable to climb very well, his paws and pads made for the ground and not much else. He watched her blandly, wagging his tail.
"I don't much like impala," he said, grinning, "so I'll just sit this one out. Why don't you just come down and grab it? Or work a bit harder to free it from there? Seems to me that if it were stuck, I wouldn't be doing any good yanking on it. Besides, I'm painfully lazy. Must be an illness."
Sighing, he shrugged again, a habit for him, "are you mad because I told you I was sick, but I'm not? Would you rather me be sick? Or, I guess, just have me be honest. I think just getting sick would be easier," he smiled, a much softer expression than his mischievous grins and hard glances, "did I tell you my name is Sinzia? Most folks just call me Sin."

"You don't? That's a shame." Foiled again. He was a smart one alright. Her tail flickered. "Perhaps you are right. From up here I can fix it... though laziness is a horrible thing to have." But he wasn't her son or her spieces. She had no right to lecture.
She nudged it until it hit the ground and looked down at him from the branch. "I don't take kindly to liars. i would not rather you be sick. The easy road," She leaped down and landed gracefully by her kill. "is not always the best."
She dipped her head in a light greeting. "Sin, is it? I am Olayinka." Her tone was light but it was obvious she still didn't approve of his lying or is lazy attitude.
"Well its down now if you DO want to eat it." She said motioning to the kill.

Sinzia shrugged, "I think I've got a lot of horrible things. But I guess that's part of my charm, huh?" He grinned, knowing full well he was not very charming at all. He watched her move the kill, stepping back instinctively despite not being close enough for it to touch him from the start. He blinked at her.
Eyes following her smooth movements as she gracefully leapt from the tree, he found himself smiling, vaguely impressed despite how simple she made it look. Sure, for cats it must have been as easy and every day as walking, but climbing down from a tree was a novel thing for the hyena. He nodded at her as she spoke, rolling his shoulders back and stretching his front paws by pushing them against the floor.
"See, I'm with you. I don't like liars either, but what can I do? It comes so naturally, and I'm really good at it. I've tried to better myself, I really have, but I can't do much to change my own nature, can I?" He grinned as she introduced herself again, nodding. He was glad, as her name had struck him as rather complicated and it was good to hear it again.
"Are you sure?" he asked, leaning to one side, as if to swagger while remaining in place, "I wouldn't want to take your food from you. Miss Olayinka." He bowed, "especially since I've already gotten off on the wrong foot with you. How about I do something nice for you, to earn it, first?"

She gave a light snort but didn't comment. Perhaps he had something else that made him charming but that was not one. She sat down by the impala, starting to clean her muzzle with a paw.
"Well obviously that is true... but maybe you should better yourself by finding a good use for those skills instead of lying about just anything." Her eyes flicker up to him again.
"Positive. I did offer it, didn't I? I can easily catch another meal." She pauses, lifting her head to look at him. "What kind of nice thing? And how would I know you weren't going to be to lazy to do it or if you weren't lying again? You've made yourself hard to trust."

"But I like just lying about anything," he said thoughtfully. He smiled and watched her clean, noting that her fur looked soft and well taken care of. Tilting his head, his large ears perked up keenly, he sniffed at the air for no better reason than to make sure he knew her scent. Just in case.
"I wouldn't know a good use for my 'skills' it it his me in the face," he laughed, shaking his head. Flicking his tail, he pondered her questions. "I suppose you don't know if I mean it or not. I don't really know if I mean it or not, either. But the fun would be in trying to figure that out, right?"
He moved closer to her, looking at the kill and ignoring his stomach, "if I say I'll do something nice, and then don't do it, then we know I'm just a liar all around. But if I do managed to do something nice, then there's at least some hope that I can say something a mean it, right? It's a character study, my own character. But, if you're not game for that, I can find someone else to help me discover myself."
"I -am- lazy and untrustworthy, after all."

She just gave a flicker of her eyes skyward. He was all but impossible to get through to, she decided. She pauses in mid lick to stare at him then finishes up, shaking her self ever so slightly and sitting up straight.
"Well I'm sure you'll find something of the sort. I suppose...." She responded though she wasn't exactly sure how it'd be 'fun'.
When he moved closer, she stood and went to the tree, arching her back as she rubbed along it. "Hm... Alright. You've tempted me. There is something nice I would like done for me if you can complete it." Her red eyes narrowed on him slightly. "It would be nice if you could show me the nearest watering hole. Even from the trees I can't seem to find it in this place and I have been a few days without water."

Sin tilted his head as she moved to the tree, watching her rub against it. Felines had such strange habits, yet they made everything look so graceful and dainty. He was gruff and uncoordinated by comparison, and he often felt insufficient for it. Which was odd for him, considering how low he forced others to set their expectations of him. How he could fall short of those was any body's guess.
"A few days? I didn't think you leopards and lions could go so long without water. I mean, hyena's are built like the brush and bramble: we can go for weeks without it," lying again, he shrugged his lanky shoulders, "but I know where one is, if you want to follow me. That's not a difficult task at all."
He grinned and sauntered away from her, leading purposefully and confidently. He paused to look back at her, tilting his large head again and grinning wildly. He had a very untamed air about him, which was fitting for his rather uncontrollable personality. "Come on, it's not far."

"Do not compare me to a lion." She voiced frankly then rolled her eyes. She knew that one to be a lie. No creature could survive more then a week without water.
"One moment." She told him then grabbed her kill around the throat. She wasn't just going to leave it lying around while they went off. She grabbed onto the tree with her claws and began to scale upwards all the way to the branch it was first on. She wedged it against where the branch met the tree then leaped down to land by Sin.
"Good... I'm thirsty." She responded not sure if she trusted but she'd cast a lie of her own. While she had been without water for sometime it was more like two days rather then a couple. Still enough to warrant the need to drink but not enough to weaken her.
"Lead the way."

Sin watched her climb with the kill with a look of intimidation on his face. He wasn't unaware that leopards could do such things, but he hadn't witnessed it very often. Once again he was impressed by her, but he was trying his best not to show it. Nodding as she returned to him, grinning at how showy it was, he laughed.
"That was interesting. And I won't compare you to a lion again, lest something bad happen to me? I won't risk it. Come on, then." He trotted off again, heading in one direction without looking around to confirm it by reference. He was just assuming there was a water source in this direction, considering he had no knowledge of these lands.
The way he saw it, since she hadn't found one, he could spare a little bit of a walk before suspicions arose. And, hopefully, they'd soon stumble on a watering hole of some kind before too long.
"So, what's the deal with you and lions?"
