Okay, I have to know. Best used as fuel for a fire or practically the Bible? I need some sane rational opinions, which I know I can get here.

...Besides, no one else around here has read it. xd

So, Twilight. Yes or No?

From my neck

I welcomed in my arms...

It appeals to people I could never imagine reading.
For some people, I guess, It accurately describes love.
Im not fighting over this, to be honest I like her other book
The Host
much better ^_^

Young blood spills tonight
this time the victim is you
Poison lips, the ones you kiss
I swear my love for you is true

I read it.

I liked the first one, though I picked it up thinking it was different than it turned out to be. The first, I think, is always better. Though, how those two fell in love, I have no freakin' idea, because they had NO chemistry and probably would be a horrible real-life couple. The characters are so fake I can barely stand them, and Bella grates my nerves. How can someone be so unbelievably HORRIBLE?? And not even in a good way. She's a horrible character. Why does the whole universe revolve around her? She doesn't even have a nice personality to offset her ordinary-ness. Her goal is to be a vampire, and she doesn't even care about anything else, even Edward. She's so selfish, so whiny, so... OH GOD, I CAN'T EVEN DESCRIBE IT IN WORDS!!!! She's horrid, just horrid. Think about it if you ever read. She's so... fake. Not even real in the slightest. No one reads it for her, they read it for Edward.

And how many times can you say someone is beautiful? Once is enough, but apparently not for Ms. Meyer! She's obviously created a Gray Stu to place herself--Miss Mary Swan!--in a position to be the object of her perfect-man's desires. WTF with Edward? He gives the same old lines and is really nothing special. I can't even begin to explain the mistakes in Edward's characterization--or lack thereof.

http://www.amazon.com/review/R1U7J1AHX5G1Z0/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R1U7J1AHX5G1Z0 ~ This is a GREAT review that just takes the words out of my mouth. Even the comments are good.

Warning: This is a rather long-winded, KFHGKH AAGGHH TWILIGHT rant.

1. I have legitimate reasons for hating it. Not s**t sux; although, yes, it's a horrible "saga" and Smeyer's writing is bad and those two words pretty much wrap up whatever it is I feel about them (RAGE). My hatred for this series makes me use inappropriate language.

2. I read absolutely anything. Anything. However, I'll only finish if it's good. So I'm not hatin' to hate.

TWILITE, a summary.
Bella is the new girl in Forks. She's clumsy (she hates sports, she trips everytime she runs, she gets papercuts), uninteresting (omg, guise stop looking at me )': all I ever do is read classic lit wahhh, I like Jane Austen), and plain-looking (see Smeyer). Yet, she gets into all kinds of deadly situations, ones that could've killed her, and she's perfectly safe; she's loved by the student body, everyone is attracted to her; and Edward thinks of her as the most beautiful creature that has ever graced the mortal realm (see Midnight Sun). Also, wah, Edward disappears on sunny days because he sparkles rainbow sparkles. No, I am not kidding.

Three hundred pages full of nothing/the same thing -- "Oh, Bella. I want to be with you, but...I'm dangerous" -- later, Bella stupidly agrees to save her mom from some guy who later goes, "JK LOL, I DONT HAVE UR MOM NOW I KILL U" and chaos ensues and

CULLEN WONDER POWERS ACTIVATE, ALICE YELLOW, ROSALIE PINK, JASPER BLUE, EMMETT RED ---- ANDDDD EDWARD WHITE. TOGETHER THEY AREEEEE SAILOR CULLENS/POWER CULLENS/SUPER CULLENS/THE CULLEN BUNCH

or sum s**t like that. This is just the first book and I can assure you the following four (I'm including the partial draft of Midnight Sun) books are as full of cuntraggery as the first. Reasons why I'm summarizing why I hate it all include that reviewing all of the books would take me forever and raging is exhausting, soooo:

1. Too much purple prose and repetitions of the following words: chagrin, dazzle (and any variation thereof, such as daze, dazzling, etc), marble, statue, perfect, beautiful.

2. Bella is a self-insert. This is mentioned all the time, but no one really goes through the trouble of explaining how much of a self-insert she is. Let me put it this way: Read a description of Bella while looking at a picture of Stephenie Meyer. Also, her name is Bella Swann. Beautiful Swan? O I C WHUT U DID THERE SMEYER. 4laugh

3. The novels are merely wish-fulfillment/emotional porn.

4. Sexism is involved.

5. Abusive boyfriends run rampant in the books (read: Jacob & Edward).

6. *****.

7. Character depth, character anything: There is none. It's, like, they're just there to serve as decoration.

8. Stephenie Meyer broke her own universe rules.

9. The messages are pretty horrible.

tl;dr: fail smeyer fail.

feel free to ask me more.

[/agree] It's so irritating to see people falling over themselves about how 'awesome' this book is, when it's so obviously, like, bad fan-fiction. ....Maybe if it was a parody, but Meyer is, sadly, serious. Let us pray for her soul.

[EDIT] Actually, I have a character whose name is Swanwhite (White swan), and part of the imagery of her story is based on birds (white swans being beautiful, pure, ect., and crows being symbols of death). I see what I did there. Of course, the 'crow' is named Van, and Swan has a nickname.

    Agreed.

Lmao, that one's a bit of a joke. I myself don't take that one so seriously.(:

I loathe that new quotes system....... How confusing!

...I gotta stop choosing names with real meaning. Stop thinking so much. I see that's a bit of a problem in my stories.

I just wanted to say, I actually like Twilight, but it was a bit of a failure in the following books, as it confused quite a lot. I am going to see the first movie, and then I shall see if they will actually become better than the books, and decide if to watch the next ones.

Will there be 'next ones'?

Who knows? I guess it depends on the amount of good reviews they get.

I absolutely and completely love you for that. I laughed, really hard.

But on to my comments.

I love to hate these books...except when I love them.

Yeah, I know, that doesn't make sense.

But I'm very bipolar about the twilight series. Sometimes I absolutely love every page (when I need a 'turn my brain off and just read' type of story), and other times I'm just like WTF WHYYY???? There are way too many impossible passages...and I was totally team Jacob.

Jacob=real, developed love.

Definitely fuel for a fire.
I have good reasons too.
1. SMeyer set feminism back 100 years with her 'books' with Bella being like "every other teenage girl" 'Cuse me? I'm sorry but I can't get up on time every morning, get to school on time,be able to attend all my classes and get perfect grades, along with doing all my homework, keeping a steady job, cooking and cleaning up after myself and my father, let along have a boyfriend and run around the country/world.

2. The writing was just horrible. SM loaded all her writing with to much description and adjectives that weren't necessary.

3. With Bella being so homely she shouldn't have attracted the attention of every single boy in her school. I'm sorry but if she's so plain looking she wouldn't have attracted Mike, Eric, Edward, and the other 100 boys at her school not to mention Jacob.

4. I don't agree with the fact that Stephenie Meyer is promoting teenage girls sneaking their boyfriends in through their bedroom windows. Also the fact that she's promoting the fact that teenage girls should rely on a guy in order to live.

5. This is Stephenie Meyer's wet dream of a sexy vampire guy and a girl [who looks like herself mind you] in a meadow.

6. No one is so special that three different groups of people would change their rules for her. The Cullens, The La Push Pack, The Vultorri.

7. The fandom. Not as bad as the others but horrible none-the-less. It is absolutely horrible to have little twelve year olds saying the Edward loves them and that they are going to have Edward Cullen's babies. Not the mention the fact that 99% of the fandom gets absolutely violent when you disagree with the series. They go on to call the people who don't like the series foul names, along with "you obviously haven't read the books." "your retarded, everyone loves twilight." "Edward Cullen would rip you to shreds i he could have heard that"

Ah Twilight... where to start? At first I liked it, it was a kind of mind-numbing romance that dumbed you down into happiness.

Then came New Moon... well, that was the worst, a whole book about Bella Swan being a depressed emo kid?!

Eclipse... Obviously that one wasn't very good because I read it about a month ago and I don't remember it... I think it was about Victoria coming back and a jealousy war between Jacob (practically a rapist!!) and Edward (Bella = his object?)

Breaking Dawn... Oh my gosh, what's that smell... it's... CLICHE!!! They had babies, got married, overpowered the rulers of the fantastical world and lived happily ever after.

As I said, I once liked Twilight... then the fan base developed and my respect went out of the window. Post above, point one sums up how wrong SM made Bella, trying to create an ordinary girl so we can relate and want to read more. No.

And also, the same thing happens in every book? Bella gets in trouble and gets the whole world of magic to save her? How selfish. No plot development, it just bores me now. And it's badly written, in my opinion. I could have written something on that same level of literacy when I was nine years old.

End. (FOR NOW!)

You know, reading Ana's post, it brought up something I noted before. I know a lot of Twilight fans, and I have never met one that actually read and liked Bella. No one reads for Bella; every one reads for Eddykins.

As I once heard, "Edward can't read Bella's mind because she has no thoughts."
