IMPORTANT-PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTINUING: 1. Feel free to PM to join even if I have a partner and I shall roleplay with you as well <3, I enjoy getting different takes on roleplays.-/ 2. Please do not post in this thread unless you have sent a profile and I have given it the OK! 3. As always, feel free to take any liberties in my roleplay <3

4..Yes, the thing is long..but yes, it's a fun read! (I think o-o) Butt..a new feature to my roleplays is a summary, so you know if it sounds like something you might be interested in before you read the whole darn thing <3

~Summary~ Brilyan Sorose, a wizard, and X (your character) have been best friends for many years now. They live in castle alone that belonged to a woman who adopted both of them and that they thought of as a mother. The pair realize they've fallen in love and X proposes, Brilyan accepts and the wedding is set. The night before the wedding, Brilyan enters X's bedroom late at night and finds him in bed with a village girl. Rather than apologize, X is belligerent and Brilyan, in heartbroken rage turns X into a hideous troll. When X demands to be changed back angrily, still not apparently remorseful, Brilyan puts an obedience collar on him, forcing X to obey his every whim and say only, 'yes, or no, Master.' Two years pass this way when Brilyan activates the Bond, (sort of a pre-marriage togetherness thing) by being the unfaithful one this time when he kisses a man named Giacare. X now has his body back and goes to Brilyan's room, taking Brilyan's magick for his own by way of the Bond. Also, due to the nature of the Bond and Brilyan's spell, even after taking her powers, X is forced to take troll form at night, while being himself during the day.~

~~The world is Ioron, (think of a Lord of the Rings-ish world, but with many more major races and magick-users) The story takes place in a castle in one of the twelve kingdoms of Avaria (Avaria is the most magickal part of the world, covering one-fourth of Ioron itself. (Ioron=Earth) (If you didn't understand any of this, don't worry, it's helpful but not necessary <3) ~

~Prestory~
Brilyan Sorose is a wizard of unknown origins. He has lived with an old witch named Moregna all his life for as far back as he can remember, being the other's apprentice and aiding her. When he was nine years old, he chanced upon a boy: X. (Your character, give him a name) The boy was half-frozen in the snow and he managed to bring him inside, nursing him back to health and saving his life. The boy was eleven years old, alone, and fascinated by magick. A perfect addition to the castle-home.
Years past as Brilyan and X grew up as playmates and helpers to Moregna, with Brilyan learning the magick while X was taught all sorts of fighting tricks and even swordplay. He'd been confident he could beat the 'old lady' as he called him, and was soundly beaten everytime. Moregna was a mother to them both, and well loved by them both. When Brilyan was twenty and X twenty-two, Moregna decided to leave the castle in their hands, much to their sadness. She left, and the two were alone. As time passed, Brilyan and X realized that there was more than close friendship to their relationship..they'd fallen in love.

They spent all of their time together, happy and adoring each other's company. X couldn't use really any magick, but he didn't begrduge Brilyan his power in much the same way Brilyan was fine, even proud of, X being the skilled swordsman..so it came as no surprise when X proposed. Brilyan was overjoyed and said yes, and X was so happy he picked Brilyan up and twirled him in his arms, ending the night with both of them laughing and hugging each other on the floor. Several months passed and finally the wedding was a day away, That night, late though it was, Brilyan was beside himself with joy and went to his love's room..

When he opened the door, he found him in bed with a village girl and for a moment X didn't even notice Brilyan had entered and continued, only realizing when the servant girl gasped that Brilyan had entered. X quickly leapt up and put clothes on as Brilyan ran from the room. X had betrayed him the night before their wedding. X entered his room, coming to him and trying to speak to him, watching the man he loved as his heart broke before X's eyes..his own heart breaking in kind. Anger at himself warred inside of him, and anguish at the pain he'd caused his beloved. He'd been nervous about getting married..and the village girl had seemed so nice..but in reality..he was just thinking about himself and he knew it, which further angered him as he made his first mistake: he didn't apologize or show his remorse. Instead, at Brilyan's mention of being with the servant girl, X gave a response he hated himself for, "So? I am the Master of the Castle, am I not?" He would be, once married to Brilyan, and it never crossed his mind how serious it was, not at first..but he didn't know how to apologize. And that was when Brilyan cast his spell.

He called on the binding power, (The Bond) one that was traditionally taken about a week before a wedding to ensure faithfulness..since a partner failing to stay faithful didn't deserve the blessed union of a Bond. Therefore, he called on his own powers and the Bond, using them against X. Brilyan cast his spell and aimed at X, who realized something was happening and tried to protest, only to feel his body wracked with pain. Things were shifty and changing..and in moments, where X had stood was now a troll, hideous and repulsive. The skin was wrinkly and wart-covered, hairy in several places too, especially along the head and hands. His teeth were pointy yellow fangs, and his nose was long and crooked with beady black eyes..he was a terrible thing to look at, and he was X.

Seeing himself in a mirror, he looked to Brilyan in horror, before making his second mistake: demanding in anger alone that he turn X back. Even after the spell, X still did not apologize..he still cared only for himself in Brilyan's opinion. So using the Bond, he crafted a collar that formed around X's neck and clicked, a slave's collar..it was a sign of low class, basically making X look like any other dumb, troll used for labor since they were unnaturally strong. The collar made it so that X had to obey any command he gave, he could not refuse..and he made it so that X could not speak but to say, 'Yes, Master', or 'No, Master", in his raspy, growling troll-voice.

X felt dread for himself, and sad love for the other as he realized Brilyan meant to keep him this way. He commanded X to clean his bedchambers and then left as X was forced to do the work. When Brilyan came back later, he commanded X to get out and so he did, though he stopped by the door and intended to come back in..only to hear Brilyan crying inside. Remorse came to him fully as he'd had more time to consider his actions..but by then it was too late.

Two years passed in this manner, Brilyan as a cold, demanding master and X as a subservient troll. People he knew from the village came by occasionally, seeking Brilyan's magickal help on this or that..but they never recognized him, they treated him like garbage..like a..troll. And then Giacare came along. He was a wizard of some sort, an exotic traveler who'd befriend Brilyan at a magick fair and began visiting regularly, much to X's growning anger. He loved Brilyan of course, and was certain from the few times he'd caught her crying that Briyan still loved him..but he was bitter now too, surely what he'd done didn't merit two years as a malformed slave? And then, having to watch the man he considered his husband flirting and happy with another man..he was tempted to throttle Giacare.

And then something happened. One night, Giacare stayed over later than usual while X sulked in his bed, Brilyan having somewhat mercifully allowed him to stay in his own bedroom. X fell asleep as Giacare and Brilyan progressed beyond words, kissing each other passionately before Giacare left and Brilyan went to bed. Despite everything, he refused to sleep with another as X had done to Briylan...meanwhile, X's collar snapped and he woke with a start as the sun rose. To his shock, his body was changed, a troll no more..but himself again! And the collar that forced him to obey all of Brilyan's commands lay shattered..and moreover..he could feel from the Bond why this was, it was Brilyan..she'd been unfaithful. Though he wasn't sure just how unfaithful she'd been. Part of that hurt deeply, but the other part was happy, finally he was free.

He made his way to Brilyan's bedroom, hoping he hadn't woken up yet..that wouldn't fit into his plans. When he entered, he stared at him a moment before calling on the Bond since Briylan been 'unfaithful' and thusly the magicked worked against him this time as nearly every bit of his magick entered X. Brilyra awakens to see X beside his bed, feeling his powers gone..

~Prestory End~

~This is where the story begins~

Obviously, they both love each other..but Brilyan is heartbroken over what X did, and X is heartbroken at all of the actions of X, X meanwhile is furious that Brilyan trapped him as a reviled slave for so long, being mocked whenever he stepped outside or called monster..though he did have to admit, if Brilyan had caught any of those people instulting or attempting to abuse X..he threatened or physically forced the others away angrily, refusing to let anyone besides himself torment X.

X now has all of Brilyan's magick and therefore nearly unlimited power..feel free to take any liberties. He can also make an obedience collar for Brilyan if you want. Brilyan isn't the type to be afraid and will still try to be 'in control' even though X has all the power now. X should be thinking along the lines of tough love, knowing that Brilyan won't believe him if he's totally sincere at first and loving, but nor will he respond to total coldness or anger. And as stated, X thinks of Brilyan as being his husband already, despite the fact they are not technically married.

~Story will involve re-falling in love, breaking X's spell, some villian-ness-this isn't all that can or must happen, just a guideline~

~Brilyan is mine and X is yours except in flashbacks, otherwise feel free to do anything with any character or just stick to X~

Vaan has no memory of anything prior to Brilyan saving him from the cold. According to Moregna, the shock of being brought back from the verge of death affected his mind somehow. Despite assurances that he would eventually remember who he was, Vaan still has no solid recollection of anything, except for the melody of a lullaby someone used to sing to him.

Vaan would also like to make it perfectly clear that he was drunk the night Brilyan found him with that girl. He would also like to point out that he hadn’t really done anything to her when his lover walked it, except touch. Unfortunately, Vaan drunk is not a smart Vaan and so...things got a little out of hand. And Vaan has never had the chance to explain this to Brilyan, and he hasn’t much bothered trying to talk to him otherwise. His confinement in his troll form has made him a little...bitter. There have been people who both verbally and physically abused him, outside of Brilyan’s notice, but Vaan doesn’t know that. He believes that they did it because Brilyan said so.

When he was nineteen, and X was twenty-one, X proposed to Brilyan..and several months later, the night before the wedding day, he caught X in bed with a village girl. (X, loving only B wouldn't sleep with another male) Heartbroken, and being given not even one sign of remorse from the other, he transformed his former lover into a troll and any pity he might have had ended the moment the other bade him angrily to change him back. Then he took away the last bit of free will X would have had with him. Two years later, he has lived with X as his troll-servant all of this time, meeting a man by the name of Giacare. After kissing him, the binding spell deemed it unfaithful and took his spell off X..more or less.

Brilyan Sorose lay in his bed of crimson and deep violet coverings, his normally smooth face scrunched as if in pain, framed by his long, dark lavender hair. He was dreaming one of his nightmares again..one involving the night that Vaan had betrayed him..the night he had, in his pain and anger, transformed his dearest love into a hideous monster. He felt that with time, he could have forgiven him easily enough..if he'd just shown any remorse..But instead, he acted as though he were the one wrong after having been caught with another in his bed.

That was something he could not tolerate, not while his heart was breaking. And even then, he would have lifted the spell he was certain..but the other responded in anger, still not remorseful, but to his mind..so very cold. So he'd taken Vaan's free will away and made of the man he would have as his husband, a mere servant.

Brilyan felt guilty over Giacare, which was probably why the nightmare was so strong..of grinning trolls..looming figures..and the terrible shadows that seemed to haunt him since he made the decision that was both Vaan's penance and his curse..and then his auburn eyes opened wide.

His mouth made an 'oh' of surprise and shock as he beheld Vaan, a troll no more, looking down at Brilyan, his hand open as the trail of swirling, multi-colored light threads that made up his magick flowed into him. "No!" He tried to stop it..tried to pull his magick back, catching only a few strands as almost all of his magick entered the other. Brilyan's hand clenched a moment, something between confusion and horror warring on his expression as he lifted his eyes to the other's and said in a disbelieving tone, "Vaan."

Waking up had become something that Vaan came to dread over the two years he was trapped in his hideous form. Did Brilyan even know what he had done to Vaan? Did he know about the abuse he had suffered from at the hands of the people that came here? Probably. He wouldn’t be surprised if Brilyan had been the one to urge them to do it. His husband wouldn’t let Vaan speak to him properly, wouldn’t speak to him properly. Only orders and cold words. Wasn’t two years enough time to be trapped like this?

Vaan twisted in his bed, frayed and torn sheets wrapping around his body. But something was different today. He felt...smaller, strangely enough. When he opened his eyes, there were strangs of red and black by his face and a pale, human hand where his green claw-like one should be. He sat up, confused and shocked, and saw that everything was different. His feet weren’t dangling over the end of the bed as they usually would. Instead the legs that he hadn’t seen for so long. And the collar he often wore shattered around his neck. Vaan blinked several times before he struggled out of the sheets only to the fall off the bed.

As he struggled back up, he caught sight of himself in the mirror. He was himself. His old, normal self. Long hair, black at the roots before melting into red, and ice blue eyes were wide. A red mark in the middle of his forehead that he’d had since before Brilyan had saved him. Brilyan... Vaan closed his eyes. What had Brilyan done, to make this happen? He was happy to be human again but it hurt to know that this was only because Brilyan had been unfaithful. Why couldn’t it have been Brilyan’s choice?

As soon as he could, he dressed in the only clothing that he hadn’t destroyed in the first month after he changed and started towards his husband’s room. If that man, Giacare, was still there, he was going to rip him apart. He stopped for a moment at the door and exhaled slowly. When he opened the door, he relaxed at Brilyan being alone. After staring at his husband after such a long time, eyes soft, he opened up the Bond and began pulling at Brilyan’s magick.

His hand clenched when he was finished taking the other’s magick. The soft eyes turned cold as he straightened. “It’s good to see you too Brilyan.” Vaan spoke softly. His expression was impassive as he spoke. Nothing like the soft gentleness from two years ago. “Or were you expecting that man, Giacare?”
PostPosted: Wed Oct 15, 2008 10:58 am

Brilyan watched as the other stared down at him. The other's expression was unreadable to him, a face he'd once known as well if not better than her own. He watched the other straighten as the spell was complete, a set of cold eyes gazing at him. The words made him finally realize it was not a dream..Vaan was human again..

For a moment, he could do nothing but stare at Vaan, dumbfounded by what had occured..how had he regained his form? And taken his powers..and then it dawned on him as a flash as in his mind's eye, he saw himself kissing Giacare..he'd been unfaithful..broken the laws of the original Bond, which had broken the Bind, and now he was to suffer for it.

The irony was not lost on him as he looked to his hands, feeling torn. His magick was a part of him, like a limb in a way, and he now felt deformed without it..he needed her magick..and moreover, he couldn't let Vaan keep it..aside from not deserving such a gift, what would Vaan do to him, now that he held the power? All he'd done after two years was to kiss another..why was he being punished? How was he the unfaithful one?

Emotions were running through him..the anger..the bitterness..the loneliness..and strongest of all..the love that stubbornly had made itself part of his heart, even broken. But that he could not allow, not for Vaan..and so he played the part of Master rather than Lover. Brilyan's voice was cold now as he narrowed his eyes on the man whose merest glance sent a shiver down his spine..he was still the most handsome man he'd ever seen..the only one he'd ever come close to loving, "Troll, I don't know what game you're playing..but I'd suggest you give me back my magick. People will come to me for help and if I am without my magick, they will come after you"

Pausing, he finished with a slight smirk, "Giacare won't allow it either," he spoke the name of the one who'd given him the act of unfaithfulness, the one who, while he did not know it, was the object of intense rage and jealousy on Vaan's part. One that had always been fired up by his own possessiveness and love for Brilyan.

Brilyan was...beautiful. The same as he remembered. Being a troll had twisted his view of the world. Despising that which he loved, despite how deeply he loved, for two years had been painful. He hadn’t been able to even look at Brilyan, despising and loving him at the same time, so he didn’t. And Brilyan didn’t seem to mind him not looking at him, so it was fine. Now that he was human again (and sober), Brilyan was back to being beautiful, back to being the perfect man who could do no wrong.

But he had done wrong. Brilyan had done something with that...man. Why did he have to do that, and why with that man? Two years had passed... Vaan couldn’t help but wonder sometimes why Brilyan hadn’t done this sooner. Why hadn’t he found someone else to love? For a moment he thought that maybe the wizard still had a love for him. But maybe Brilyan’s had just been waiting for the perfect someone to take his place, which didn’t made him feel better. Then he mentioned Giacare again and...well...Vaan snapped.

Vaan moved right up to Brilyan’s and slapped him, icy blue eyes burning with anger and hurt. Brilyan valued another man’s opinion. His husband thought this Giacare wouldn’t allow this? Vaan wouldn’t allow this. He did not want Brilyan thinking about another man, ever. That he returned to being human just because his husband had been unfaithful...but didn’t know how unfaithful... Did he understand what that made him feel like? Vaan was going to kill Giacare once he got his hands on him and he didn’t care if Brilyan hated him for it.

Immediately Vaan grabbed Brilyan’s shoulder and shoved him back down onto the bed. One hand pushed down on Brilyan’s neck and the fingers of the other tangled in the violet hair. “And why wouldn’t Giacare allow it? Tell me. What did you give to him that you can speak like that about him? What did he give to you?” Vaan towered on top of him. All of that rage and jealousy he had towards the other man was getting vented onto the man below him. Teeth clenched and set as his eyes narrowed. “Why does my mistake merit two years of servitude while your unfaithfulness only resulted in a good night sleep?”

Brilyan looked to Vaan, unease flickering alongside love and admiration..Vaan looked as he did the night he'd betrayed Brilyan..minus the flushed features and messy hair, etcetera. The beautiful hair, so long and with red and black that framed his face wonderfully..those red and ice blue eyes..how long had he stared into those eyes before? Loving? Adoring? Needing the other? He'd truly missed those eyes..

And then he knew his mistake the moment the words were uttered. The other moved closer and to his surprise, he was slapped. Hard. He blinked in surprise and moved a hand to his cheek, looking wide-eyed at Vaan as his cheek turned a bit red from the slap. That was the first time other than play fighting or to help him that Vaan had ever intentially caused him physical pain..

Brilyan's eyes flickered with a sliver of fear as he was shoved onto the bed, fingers in his hair and a hand at his throat. "I.." The other continued and he flinched, seeing truth to the words..truth that he'd often questioned himself. Though minus the part about Brilyan's unfaithfulness since he hadn't been unfaithful yet. "There was nothing given! My unfaithfulness was a mere kiss, and it ended when I sent him home you fool. Even as a troll you.." He trailed off, not wanting to admit that he'd pushed Giacare away because the only one he could think about as he kissed Giacare was Vaan..the one he loved..the one he missed..the one he longed for.

Brilyan scowled, hating that fact and thus it increased his anger that he should still be so utterly in love with the man who'd hurt him so much. "I only kissed him, but you? You betrayed me in the worst way on the eve of our wedding night! Most wizards would have turned you into a frog and tossed you into some pond to rot. I was merciful! I kept you here, I let you stay in your own bed. I've fed you and made sure you never thirsted. Being a troll and having a obedience collar, that was my punishment for you. Staying with the one you betrayed, serving the one who you hurt."

Bonds, being much like marriages only stronger, had a sort of fallback. If someone was unfaithful or failed to uphold the Bond, it granted even a magickless person the ability to exact a punishment. The only punishments it would not aid in were death, manipulation of will, or regression. Turning them into something malformed or taking away their memories/age. There were a few others, but that was the usual attempt. Brilyan had worked off of the Bond as far as making the obedience collar, but he'd used his own magick to make Vaan a troll and Bind him.

Brilyan smirked coldly, "Rather fitting, I'd say." But..everyday had hurt him more and more..each cruel word was a knife in his own heart..Brilyan loved Vaan so much..

Vaan was utterly and completely enraged as he looked down at Brilyan. The desire to kill Giacare was overwhelming, and he was going to do it too. But first he had to deal with Brilyan, explain to him, for once, what happened that night. Would his husband listen though? Vaan frowned a little... Hadn’t someone told him about being able to share memories through a Bond? Could he do that with the magick he’d taken from Brilyan?

Even as he considered the idea, the words coming out of his husband’s mouth were enough for him to want to slap him again. Blue eyes narrowed and his hand tightened on Brilyan’s neck. He’s planned on acting towards Brilyan as Brilyan acted towards him, but all that anger about him and that man flirting, whether or not he was there, wouldn’t stop.

And Brilyan’s pretending that it was nothing important angered him even more. Had Brilyan even felt his drunken semi-but-not-really infidelity (Vaan didn’t think touching was an infidelity) as Vaan had felt Brilyan’s unfaithfulness that morning? Vaan set his mouth into a thin line, tamping down in rage. “Only kissed? Really? What kind of a kiss? There are several types. Did you kiss him as one would a friend? Or as a lover? Did you pour passion and need into it? Were you trying to seduce him?”

Vaan sighed and sat back, lifting Brilyan with him easily before bodily shoving him back down. “Do you really think I enjoyed your mercy? I have hated you, Brilyan, since the day you changed me.” He stood, off the bed, as if he didn’t want to be close to him. “I would rather you have let me rot in a pond. At least I would have not had to be around you, incapable of telling you of the truth of what happened. Not that you’ll ever listen. You seemed to enjoy have someone to order around and your actions cast doubt over your feelings for me.” Vaan picked through the hazy memories, which were more emotions by the end of it, from that night and pushed them to the forefront of his mind and sent them through both the Bond and the magick he’d taken from his husband.

Blurs and shapes...the pub in the village... Laughter and celebrations as Vaan announced that everyone was invited to his wedding tomorrow. That was...the fifth time that night he mentioned it. Someone told him that after he fell off the table. Someone else said he looked a mess. But he didn’t care. Too happy. He was getting married to the man he loved. Loved...

After he lost count of the glasses he drank...he thought he saw his husband-to-be... But it was blurred... Not right... Stumbling words falling from his mouth... Skin brushing and touching as Vaan stumbled back to the castle with the person he thought was Brilyan... Clothes shed... Falling into bed... Wondering why the other was just standing there... Being joined in bed by the other... Touching...thinking something was wrong, but he couldn’t place what... Being almost kissed before seeing another Brilyan... Confusion (and a little excitement, but he was drunk and completely in love with Brilyan) at there being two Brilyans... Not understanding, getting angry at not understanding...

“For that,” Vaan spat out the word, his anger showing again, “for that, you changed me. I’m sorry I’m an idiot when I’m drunk. You know I’m an idiot when I’m drunk. But I’ve been wondering about some things now. Wondering if you felt my mistake as I felt your unfaithfulness, through the Bond. Was it the power of the Bond that you used, Bril, or your own magick? Gods know you have enough power to change anyone without being Bonded to them.” Vaan’s voice turned cold, his expression dead save for his angry eyes. He loved Bril, he really did. But if the other really didn't care for him anymore...

Brilyan knew the other was angry..and perhaps he should have been. But that didn't mean he was simply going to accept the other's anger..well-placed as it might have been..as the hand tightened on his neck, fear flashed in his eyes again. Where was his kind, sweet Vaan? At the question he frowned, deciding it would be best to answer, "Oh stop being so dramatic about it. It was a simple kiss, not even a kiss of friends..it's hard to kiss someone when then whole time..you're thinking of someone else." Honesty. What a bummer.

The part about hating him made him flinch, watching the other stand. The words hurt..did Vaan truly feel that way? "If I wanted someone to order about, I'd have turned you into a troll a long time ago." Or some of the few slave beings that were worse..Not that there were many, a troll was pretty low class, common thing after all. And then..memories came through, memories that made him pause as he watched and listened..feeling it as if he were Vaan himself. The other was so happy about the wedding..and so drunk..stepping towards the other..getting pulled into the room, too drunk to understand what was going on..no! Brilyan couldn't have made a mistake on this..could he have?

But the memories weren't lies..fabricated memories could be created, but it was a difficult and lengthy process..Vaan was being truthful. Brilyan..had been wrong? At the question, he turned his head away and said quietly, "I..only felt a little..." He'd gone to Vaan's room of his own accord..and having felt nothing, that meant that Vaan hadn't done much at all..otherwise the feeling would have been stronger..continuing in the quiet voice, he said, "I used the Bond to make the collar...I used..my power to make you a troll..." His mind was still reeling from finding out that the husband, er..husband-to-be that he'd punished for two years..that he'd stolen the free will and form of..but still..all the angerness..the bitterness..the hurt, it was no so easily gotten rid of. And yet..

"Vaan..I..thought.." He started out hesitant, uneasy and a bit pained. "I thought you betrayed me..I was so upset..I didn't realize how drunk you were.." And it had cost him two years of his life with Vaan, if not all of it..how could the other forgive him? Brilyan stepped off the bed, walking slowly towards Vaan, never taking his eyes off the other. He reached a hesitant, warm hand, bringing it to the side of Vaan's face and brushing it softly once before he cupped the cheek, "Vaan..I..I'm sorry.." Brilyan was truly sorry now..but how could he get Vaan to understand..he seemed so different..

In Vaan's entire time as a troll, there'd been only one time Brilyan had shown him anything like kindness..one time that made Vaan realize Brilyan did still love him even if he wouldn't admit it..that his Brilyan, his husband, was still in this cold master somewhere. A group of villagers had chanced on Vaan while he was eating and began jeering at him, throwing stones at him. One of them managed to get his collar tied with a leftover rope so that Vaan couldn't get them away, he was stuck as they called him terrible names and threw things..one even stabbed him with a sword, making the murkish blood of a troll flow freely..and then Brilyan had come out, furious and enraged as he slapped each boy hard enough to leave a mark. As punishment, he sent them all home as toads and cast a spell so that they were forbidden to tell or else they'd be frogs for the rest of their days. Hence, they never told.

He then went to Vaan, cutting the rope from his collar. That was the only time he referred to him as Vaan since he'd been a troll, and he used his magick to heal Vaan, just as he'd done so many years before. Brilyan made certain that he was healed, and then put his small hand in Vaan's very large one and led him home, giving him a warning not to stray that far from the castle again. Brilyan brought him to his room and then left, the cold master once again the next day and every day after.

Maybe (just maybe) Vaan was focusing a little too much on the act of unfaithfulness that had returned his true body to him. But Brilyan even looking at another person made Vaan go into an extremely violent, possessive rage. He loved Brilyan. And he didn’t believe his husband when he said it was only a simple kiss. Why did he feel Brilyan’s own betrayal so strongly through the Bond if it only was a simple kiss? Something more had to have happened between the two magic users.

Anger spiked inside of him again when he thought of the man that had touched his Brilyan. Why had Giacare come here anyway, come to see Brilyan? Had he thought to court and win Brilyan’s heart? Vaan wouldn’t allow it. Brilyan was his. HIS. He’d been unfaithful and would suffer the consequences, but Vaan was not going to leave Brilyan because of it. He would just been the cold master this time, and perhaps a little cruel as well. His husband couldn’t be coddled. He needed to know the consequences of his actions.

Vaan did his best not to react to Brilyan’s reactions of his memories. Because of what had happened between them, the little bit of doubt that he had about his husband’s feelings for him affected how he was seeing Brilyan now. He wasn’t able to believe him anymore, not like he used to. Having two years worth of memories of a cold master when all he wanted was his loveable Bril back had been terrible. Worst when the villagers found and abused him. There had only been one time Brilyan had intervened, when one had gone too far and stabbed him. The one time that had made him think his loveable Bril was still in there. But then the abuse continued—less violent, but still very hurtful—and Brilyan seemed oblivious, though Vaan doubted his husband didn’t know that the villagers had been abusing him still.

He almost leaned into the touch when Brilyan touched his cheek, but stopped himself and instead stepped away. “If everything could be solved with words, then we could go back to getting back to being married. Do you think that we can really go back to being that loving couple with what you’ve done to me? Or is that you don’t understand what I’ve said? I have completely lost faith in you, Bril.” He flexed the hand he gathered Brilyan’s magick in. “Maybe it would be better if you had something that made you a little more...obedient. Then I wouldn't doubt you anymore...”

Detached eyes stared down at Brilyan but Vaan mind went back to Giacare. He really couldn’t help it. He didn’t like how happy and flirty his Bril had been with Giacare. Wait...why had Brilyan been so sure that Giacare would even know that he took his husband’s magick? That Giacare would not allow it? The man wasn’t coming to the castle again today? He was definitely going to kill that man if he was coming back today. Definitely going to kill him.

Brilyan waited for a response from Vaan..anything. But the other seemed to be thinking and Brilyan supposed he couldn't blame him..with everything that had happened..Brilyan would want time to think as well. But would Vaan respond with more anger, or something softer?

Meanwhile, he'd never had any idea what the people were doing. Brilyan usually kept him around the house, that way no one bothered him too much and he could keep an eye on Vaan..but the few times Vaan escaped his notice was when Vaan got hurt. He had no idea the way they treated him, trying to keep him as much a down played thing as possible since he didn't want people poking around at Vaan or mocking him more than the little bits who came in and saw him. But even then, they knew to guard their tongue before insulting his troll.

The other almost leaned into his touch, he could tell..but rather than stay close..rather than remain by Brilyan, he pulled away. At the words, Brilyan flinched. "Vaan..I know I made a mistake..but I was hurting..I was heartbroken, I had no idea what I was doing..and that's not an excuse, and I'm sorry..but I wasn't trying to hurt you for the sake of hurting you..I know..it will be hard for you to forgive me..but I'm willing to try to earn it, Vaan..." Hearing that the other had completely lost faith in him..hurt..

As the other flexed his hand and spoke about obedience, his amber eyes widened as he looked into Vaan's detatched eyes. "No..Vaan..you don't need to doubt me, why would I leave? This is my castle..and I don't plan on leaving you, I've stayed with you this long haven't I? So there's no reason to do something like that." He ran a hand through his hair before he sighed and stood up, moving to Vaan. Brilyan placed a hand on Vaan's shoulder, looking up at him, "I..know I've hurt you Vaan..but I want to make it up to you, I really do..Vaan.."

Brilyan stepped fully forward, wrapping his arms around Vaan in a tight embrace as he said softly, "I'm sorry.."

Why was Brilyan flinching every time Vaan told him how he felt about the way they had lived their life these past two years? Did he want him to lie about how he had been feeling? He didn’t think lying about how he felt would make the problems between each other go away. He would still feel anger, doubt and bits of hate towards Brilyan despite his love for him. And Vaan couldn’t live that way, hiding the negative emotions and going back to being his soft, gentle self.

He closed his hand, listening to his husband trying make up with him and reasoning his way out of his actions from before. He didn’t like the excuses coming out of that mouth. It was like seeing Brilyan in a new light. Forcing flaws forward where previously he hadn’t seen any. Making Vaan face the fact that his Brilyan was not as perfect as he had once seen him to be.

Or maybe just the strange mix of absolute love and pure hatred he had for his husband when he had been a troll was affecting how Vaan saw him. “I don’t care why you did what you did, Brilyan. I know you knew what you were doing. You just said that you were using your own magick to change me. Being heartbroken did not take away your capacity for reason. You didn’t want to see the state I was in, only what I had been about to do to.” The memories of that night were hazy in Vaan’s mind, but he did wonder why Brilyan hadn’t questioned the slur in his voice and his stumbling over words. He’d been too drunk to even stand that night; he argued everything from the bed, beside the person he had thought was Brilyan.

Vaan froze when Brilyan hugged him, apologizing again. He looked down at the other, feeling completely unused to the closeness. Eveything he wanted to do—to touch and hold Brilyan, to kiss him and make his husband feel uniquely cherished—were the things he couldn’t do if he was to continue with his plans. He had to do this, not for revenge but to make Brilyan really understand what he had done to Vaan.

Hands reached up and gently pushed the other away. Face impassive, eyes detached and devoid of any emotion as he stared down at Brilyan. “Because this is your castle is why you’ve stayed for so long. Because I have obeyed your words, I couldn’t leave this place. I have hated you for not letting me die when you had the chance. Why did you bothering saving me a second time?” That single act of kindness from when he had been a troll, and how Brilyan acted afterward, made Vaan see the other as one only wanting a kept slave, not a husband. Vaan wondered how Brilyan saw him now, as he glared down at him. Brilyan had effectively put an end to their future together, but what would he think of what Vaan had planned? That it would end their future together completely? Did he care, or did he want that...other man instead? “It will take a long time until I can forgive you, Brilyan. Until then I will keep your magick and you will abide by my rules.”

Brilyan knew that the other was upset, and rightly so..but he hadn't really meant it as Vaan seemed to think. To him, he'd been betrayed on the eve of his wedding night by an unremorseful husband-to-be. And he'd worried that Vaan would either try to stay and continue on that way, or would try to leave..and he couldn't bear for that to happen. So he'd changed him into a troll as per the punishment granted by the Bond..he'd wanted the other to stay close..and then as the other seemed to be unremorseful even as a troll, he'd taken away the other's speech..he'd never intended it to go on for two years..it just..he'd made a mistake..

At the words, he bit his lower lip a bit as he listened. "I knew..but..I just..Vaan, I wasn't trying to hurt you..I was hurt..and I was scared..I thought you would either try to stay and keep doing those things...or you would leave..I couldn't..I didn't want you to be gone, Vaan! And then yes, I got angry..and bitter..and I did something that I had no right to do, and..most of all..I didn't trust you, and I should have.."

As the other pushed him away, he looked up at Vaan seeing the emotionless expression. "Yes, I'm not going to leave my castle..but nor would I leave you!" As the other went on, his face paled slightly, "V..Vaan..I would never let you die..I didn't know what those boys were doing, if I had, it would never have gotten that far but I would save you everytime anyway..I wouldn't let you die..or let someone else hurt you." Brilyan really didn't know what the villagers had been doing to Vaan, since he'd thought he'd kept Vaan well enough near him or inside.

And then as the other continued, he frowned further as he looked to Vaan, stepping a little back on his own. "That magick is mine, Vaan. I need it, I have people that I take care of, I can't do that without my magick..and I won't..try to do anything to hurt you, or to upset what's left of our Bond..but I am not your property, Vaan..Your rules are not my concern." But realizing what he'd said, in comparison to what he'd done..giving the other the obedience collar and forcing him to comply..at least Vaan was only saying it..so perhaps..Brilyan would listen, rules could be lived with..and with this train of thought, he asked, "What are the rules?"

Brilyan decided that it was his turn to face penance..so he would listen to the rules as best he could..he owed it to Vaan, and perhaps if he did, the other would see he was sincere in trying to earn forgiveness..and in loving Vaan..

More excuses were falling out of Brilyan's mouth. Vaan sighed and shook his head. He couldn't believe that his husband thought that he would leave him. Vaan hadn't anywhere to go. All he knew was Brilyan and Moregna. His past was a blank and his name wasn't even his own. He'd known the other all his life, he couldn't just leave him, couldn't stop loving him. Didn't Brilyan remember that Vaan couldn't remember anything?

It really hurt him, that Brilyan thought he would leave or keep being drunk and mistaking others for his husband. What was worst were the words spoken in reply to his condition. He'd said he would give the magick back, something his husband had never done for him. After saying those things and then asking about the rules Vaan had wanted him to follow...he couldn't take it. "Aren't they none of your concern?" He snapped coldly. He had wanted to let Brilyan have the chance to prove himself, but those words hurt him. It sounded a little like how the other had been when he was the cold master. Brilyan's words only made it clear to Vaan that he cared more about his magick than he cared for Vaan.

Vaan turned and left the room, lips pressed into a thin line and fighting the urge to cry. He loved Brilyan. He really did. Why couldn't Bril see that? What was he supposed to do? Vaan's stride turned angry as he walked away from Brilyan and his room. He wouldn't leave (where would he go?), but Brilyan wasn't getting any more chances. He couldn't give Brilyan any more chances.

He'd created the collar.

Brilyan watched Vaan sighed and shake his head..watching the other's expression. And then the other snapped coldly and he cringed, knowing how it must have seemed what he'd said about the rules. "Vaa-" But the other had left the room..could he get nothing right with Vaan? He'd even decided he would abide by the rules..but he'd spoken so poorly his intentions..

But he couldn't leave it at that, not again. So he darted from the room and after Vaan and seeing him slowed before coming up behind him and wrapping his arms around the other's waist from behind, pressing against the other's back. "Vaan, I'm sorry..I didn't mean it to be said like that..you've shown me more mercy than I've shown you, I know that..and I will abide by whatever rules you set..please, Vaan..They are my concern, because you are my concern..I won't..fail you again, Vaan..." Brilyan rested his cheek against the back of Vaan's neck, biting his tongue lest he say anything that might further push Vaan away.

Vaan hadn’t actually been planning on creating an obedience collar. He had thought, since Brilyan knew him best, his husband would have known what rules he would have lain down. Not to be so cold. To trust Vaan. Not to see other people (especially Giacare) with those happy eyes that made Vaan think he would rather be with them. And they could have said that they were enjoying each other’s company and would like some times to themselves, as newlyweds often did. Then Brilyan wouldn’t have to worry about people coming around to bother them. Unless he told the villagers that his troll was Vaan. Then...it wouldn’t work.

Those arms around him still felt awkward. He pushed the arms that were hugging him off again and turned back to Brilyan. The icy blue eyes seemed to shine a little and he didn’t say a word at all initially. Then he leaned, almost as if to kiss the other. If he just gave Brilyan one more chance...but... “That was your chance Bril. You’re not getting another.” The cold voice almost wavered and he sighed softly, just staying there for a moment. Longer than a moment. Though he really ought to leave.

He needed to leave Brilyan right then. He needed to not be around his husband. If he stayed here, with Brilyan, he would break down and give him another chance. He needed to figure out how to make the collar without screwing up. This...was going to take a while.
