Well in pretty much all vampire horror movies, vampires seem to be feared. But I always wondered why. I never saw them as something that scary. I find getting eaten to death by zombies or stabbed by let's just say Jason, would be much more awful than just getting bitten on the neck.
Now all this goes to my pain point. Why do people fear D so much? Yes I know hes a dhampir and all but I never could see why people would hate him enough to force him to leave, give the cold looks etc. Sure dhampir's and vampire's both crave blood, but not every single one does.
So what's everyones opinion on this?

i would think its because of the fact of him being a dhapmir, and the fact of how different he looks and is to everyone else. not many people like to see different things. especially people who are different from their majority and even better. i think its more rather anger than fear. they used the anger into something else, seeing as they cant really process the feeling right, and it ends up turning into fear. i, as an example, dont really have a car in the world for changes, and so i havent been really scared of anything or anyone. but, of course, not everyone is like me, so they process it differetly. some it turns into actual anger, others it turns to sadness when they something to superior, and many turn it to fear of change and difference.
just my idea though ;D

Not to mention that Doris almost became too much of a temptation for him. I think that deep down inside D also fears himself and what he could do one day. His left hand who knows him better then anyone said; 'Fight it all you like, the Blood of the Nobility is in you-Right Down to the marrow of your bones. The fact that you'd rather sink your fangs into her pale neck than take her to bed is proof of that!" D is said to be extremely beautiful in an unearthly manner. Combined with his dark sense of fashion I think if we were to have someone like him irl walking around most people would be frightened. Although I wish we did have a real "D" especially if his personality was just like the character.

I do feel sorry for him though. But it's nice too see that there are people who look past all that like Doris, Lina, even Su-in. And I agree I would love a real life D. I think everyone in this guild would form a mob and stock him.

Actually thats the Vampire Hunter D 1:6 Scale ARTFX Prepainted Polystone Statue. Sculpted by Kenji Ando & Imported from Japan. I bought this statue in 2002 at the Fanime Convention for something like $175. And I still have it on display in my bedroom. He's my favorite statue model. So damn sexy! I also have two of the 7" Action figures of D. One is for storage and investment purposes and the other I opened for myself. I didn't bother buying Leila. And I also bought the Large 12" poseable figure (Doll). There's one other model that I always wanted. It's called "Nightmare" Vampire Hunter D Kotobukiya Amano Statue.  1:8 Scale Painted Polyresin Statue/Figure When I first came across this figure it was a Garage Model Kit in a plain cardboard box with a paper image of "D" glued to the box high up on a shelf at a Comic book and hobbies Store. It wasn't put together or painted, and it looked like it had been there for a longtime. Nobody recognized it because it simply had the title "Nightmare". But I recognized D immediately. The image of the model on the box reminded me of Amano's ornate style of "D" with all the fabrics and jewels and gold gildings. But the Shop wanted $270 for the kit. I just didn't have that kind of money on me since I had just come back from the 2001 Anime Convention and was pretty much broke. The next time I was able to go to that shop it was gone.. cry But now someone is selling that "Nightmare" Statue completely put together and painted in the Bloodlust movie style. I hope I can one day find that unfinished and un-painted kit again. It's so rare. sweatdrop

Well my view on vampire s that they are not scary and I do think that being eaten alive by zombies is like way scarier. I think that some people are just scared of certain things. When I was like twelve vampires were like the scariet thing in the world to me and zombies were just stupid but now I don't think that they are scary. Sometime it is the person. My veiw on it is that vampire came drain you of life and then make you into your slaves. Not in a vampire stories but this is the most common one. So the people are afrid of dieing and being made into someones servant for all eternity. That is what I think.

My opinion on Vampires is that people are just afriad of dieing and becoming something that they fear. (as some of you already stated and I agree). But it's also because of the way movies portray them. Vampires to me are absolutly not scary, I find them to be cool. (in a odd and crazy sort of way.) I have always dreamed of meeting one in person (and you all can call me crazy, weird, insane, whatever) that has always been my dream, but people keep telling me that they don't exist, and I think to myself everytime i hear, "how do they know they don't exist?" I also think that D is cute and cool simultaniously and that if there really was a real D I would love to meet him and get to know him. And I'm sure that a lot of poeple would say that he would just be a goth that over did his make up I agree with that statement made by Anime Betty and Kiyokaze. But I don't think that D has a lot in common with alot of people in the real world except for those who have actually been through something simular to it. That's all in my opinion. (If I started off topic I'm sorry I do tend to do that sometimes. Please forgive me for it.)

As we have seen in news when something is blown out of proportion, people get scared. Like the whole pit incidents. I am sure that if we all lived back in the time were vampires were talked about, we'd be scared to. On that note, Mothers and Fathers could use these images to frighten their children into being good, thus spreading the fear by discipline. Ontop of that, if someone told you that something was going to raise up from beneath the ground to suck your blood until you died, wouldn't you be afraid? There would be many stories about D circulated. Most of which would probably exaggerate his power and, depending on who is telling the story, pinpoint him as good or evil. Most likely evil because he is a dhampire, and therefore has the blood of a vampire within him. Word of mouth is a very powerful thing, especially when you are telling the stories to a bunch of yuppies that have never seen him before. Reputation circulates faster than most anything else. So even catching of glimpse of him would make people turn and run. As for us females..well, we all like a pretty face, and it's even more delicious when that face comes with a very masculine and dominant persona. Not to mention the fact he is cold, and most women have the "I can change him" attitude. It's wanting something we know we can't have. Especially in real life. biggrin

No... thats just a work of art walking down the street. Of course this one, (if he wasnt so cold) would, do you then leave you cause hes got issues. And we all know it. But thats why he's irrisistable. BTW those of you who havent joined the RP in the rp section of the guild please do. I have to say i play a good D and Dracula (Hellsing Alucard verison) whose been thrown into the mix. ^^
