Prompt response:
Jessie lay on the mattress of his hotel bed, his skated lying at the foot of the bed; newly torn strands threads from his jeans skewed themselves about his feet and scabbed knees. He sighed; there wasn’t anything to do know that the get to together at the skate park downtown was over, and he certainly wasn’t going to spend the rest of the evening trying to decipher what was going on on Japanese TV. That was something he was expecting when he’d decided to come on holiday to a place where he couldn’t understand a word of what was spoken aside form the other foreign skaters who’d come to who were from places slightly closer to central Manchester.
”I guess I could nap to summit like that” He thought, rolling over onto his stomach and pulling the pillow into a hug with his head resting on it. Still, something weighed on his mind. Some of the guys at the park had been talking about some weird number of deaths around the place. He didn’t quite catch what, or how. But it sounded odd, maybe something was going round. Now Jessie wasn’t worried about dying, he was more concerned about the possibility of getting sick and missing the competitions that’d be taking place over the next few weeks. It’d be embarrassing and a waste for him to come all the way from England only to just lie in bed and miss it all.
Now maybe it was just some bug going round. Jessie knew Japan was a weird place, somehow it registered as being within the realm of possibility. He noted mentally to wear a coat if it got anywhere remotely close to being cold outside, he caught cols all the time at home and if he could caught something like a cold that easily he wondered how easily he could catch that bug, he got sick rather easily in the cold.
Jessie groaned realising he’d broken one of his scabs while lying face down. He flipped back over, his mind momentarily taken off getting sick. ”I’ll just sleep til morning, it’ll be fine, I’m sure” He lied to himself but it help, regardless of how hollow it was. He drifted off to sleep, without changing into pyjamas, or tending to his scab.
