Have you ever found yourself hating the "Beauty"? I do all the time!
For instance in "Phantom of the Opera" Sure the Phantom was a little odd but he was only like that because of the environment he grew up in!
Christine took one look at his face and she immediately deemed he was a horrible monster!
It Just Frustrates me.

Hmm, I don't think I have ever hated the "beauties" however I find myself constantly frustrated with the characters. Probably becuase I can't associate myself in that kind of a role. I am more of a tom boy/attitude/independent chick type, not the pretty girly type.

Yeah. I'm independent in a lot of ways but I kinda long for the day that I'll be swept off my feet.

Akida MiLou Yeah. I'm independent in a lot of ways but I kinda long for the day that I'll be swept off my feet. Being swept off your feet is wonderful. ^^ I should know, I'm happily married to the guy that I feel was my soul mate. Anyway... Bella from Twilight kind of annoyed me at times... she seemed kind of ditzy and not very bright....

Now that you mention it. I did kinda hate the leading lady of phantom of the opera (the character not the actor). She kind of lead him on a bit.
I was never much of a fan for sleeping beauty. If only I had a knight who'd break a spell for me like that!

I also want to agree with you guys about Bella. She was whiny, overly defendant on people, and a mary-sue. Those qualities combined with clumsiness doesn't make her NOT a Mary-Sue, they just make her an annoying, clumsy brat. I really had to stop reading the books for a few hours out of frustration at her. I didn't much care for "the beast" in Twilight, either. But that's a whole different topic.

Twilight from Edward's point of view... which I thought was going to be very interesting.... but instead she put it on hold.... because of a leak of a few chapters.... which seems very childish to me, it's not about her, it's about the fans, and most books have transcript leaks anyway.

I started reading the leaked stuff on her site, and I actually liked it a lot. I wish she would continue it from his perspecive. @Akida;; That's how I felt until Breaking Dawn came out. And then I made it to the end of section two and nearly threw the book out the window. I stopped reading, put it away, and haven't finished it. o-o

The book was less thought out as the rest and after you stopped reading the rest of the book kinda play out like a grocery list of events. All topped off with an anti climatic ending.

I'm really looking forward to it too. I read the First Chapter on her Site. I'm intrested to see what Edward was really thinking in certain situations. rolleyes

That's along the lines of what my cousin said, actually. Apparently Bella is very distractable now? LOL, good one SM. She's totally not a Mary Sue now. rolleyes Wasn't the ending a deus ex machina? Like. Oh no, we have to confront the Volturi, but it's cool, because we're going to have a mind battle and Bella isn't effected by others' mind power. And, oh, wow, Nessy stops growing at "seventeen" or whatever so she and Jakey can be 2gethr4evr. AND OH WOW. ALICE COMES BACK. AND WITH /ANOTHER/ HALF VAMPIRE/HUMAN THING. Really easy and unlikely plot-hole fixers=NO. =/

I kind of feel bad for her though. Someone she trusted leaked more than half the book onto the internet. If you were in her position, would you have the will power or inspiration to continue with the story? Trying to become an author myself, I know I wouldn't.
On the other hand, I still stick by the Twilight is the best book. I didn't like New Moon because I never liked Jacob(until BD) nor Edward leaving, Eclipse the characters changed wayy too much for my taste, and Breaking Dawn went a little overboard with the whole pregnancy. Near the end I was just like "Have the stupid baby already!!"
But Twilight I have read tons of times. Sure, there are a lot of Mary-sue characters in there, but tis still my fav. biggrin
I'll admit, BD was a disappointment. I mean, the plot wasn't bad overall, but she could've written it much better. I still consider myself a HUGE fan though. I can't help it xD
