*Faerin sat (quite grumpily I might add) at a small table outside of a small, hollowed-out, tree, sipping a herbal tea. The tree was in the north eastern district of the city. It was quaint and cozy inside, well modified by the wood nymphs who ran it, but it was nothing like his home, close, but nothing like it. There was nothing like a truly sung tree. Which, by coincidence, was why he was grumpy.*
*Faerin had come to the city of Centra Delaqua for something very simple. A book. One he was to retrieve, and bring back to his home city in the forest of Ellesmera. Faerin was not of this land, he was an elf, and a high elf at that. He was also a half-dragon, but that's for another time. Anyways, he had come for the book, and when he finally found it, hidden away in the tonage of books that was the royal library, he went to thank the Queen, he had found that the city had been sealed, and that he couldn't go home at the moment. Well, that had been about a week and a half ago, and Faerin had read the book twice over already. Everyday he had visited Slene, the Queen, to see if he could leave yet. He had also exhausted alot of his ideas on how to get out, and many of those ideas left him in pain. Luckily, he healed quickly.*
*Faerin finished his tea and placed the cup down on it's plate. He stood, waved to a wood numph, and conjured a boquet of flowers, placing it on the table, that was to be her tip. He then placed a small, sky blue orb, with what looked like swirling clouds inside of it, the payment for the tea. Walking away he said to himself...* "Off to bother the queen again..." *He laughed and continued on his way.* "I wonder what she's got in place to stop me from getting into the castle this time..."

Athene sat impatiently on a pale rock in the gardens just outside the palace. She is a princess, I guess you could say, the third daughter of the queen, fourth child birthed and a passively willful creator. Brown breaches and a loose leathery blouse grace her figure, as she sits. She almost seems to be pouting as long elegant vines slowly flow up and down her arms in a most graceful pattern. The vines on her arms are basically a cross between animal and plant... they are called Vife, and she created them, herself at the age of one. She closes her eyes to the sun as it flows between the trees and she listens to the songs and stories whispered on their beautiful branches. Athene is 15 now…and she thinks as she sighs. She has always wanted to visit the place elves and dryads and such-sort called home, however on every opportunity, something came up, this time was no exception. Her mother was going to ask if she could visit since there was activity moving between their worlds, however that day, the barrier was launched over the castle and Athene is once again left to her own boredom.
Equanid lay soaking in a small pond not far from her sister. Lily pads coating the entire surface of the moderately (car) sized mass of cool water. She tapped her foot anxiously on the bottom of the pool. She was supposed to be practicing archery and there were surely several people looking for her in a frantic search. But she didn’t worry; they’d find her one way or another. She spit out a stream of water which danced out weightlessly for a few seconds before slashing back into the lily infested pool.
Sarurn, the second son of Queen Slene, and fifth child she bore. He paces before the palace gates; he is expecting someone (Faerin). His black pants and midnight cloak are not found out of place among the guards, he may easily be mistaken for one if the starry-night within his cloak was not seen. He has an unusually sour look upon his face as though he had just eaten something most unpleasant. Sarurn isn’t exactly the most outgoing man or the most dashing. Actually, dashing is exactly the word I would use to describe him when he isn’t in one of his moods. He deals mostly in mystery. Secrets are his power and it is said that has a glance which he can pierce any mental barriers to find the answers he seeks. There is no lying to this prince, not since the day he was born. Sarurn is notorious for appearing out of the shadows just in the nick-of-time and usually fixing whatever needs it. He misses very little and has eyes all over the palace. (The midnight cloak is actually called the Cloak of Eternity. It is a gift made by Dameon’s mother, the EmberSmith, and it has the basic ability to allow someone to travel unseen in shadows and literally teleport when in moonlight. Pretty sweet, hu?)

*Faerin leaps into a tall tree. He was about 100 feet from the front gate now, and wanted to see if he could discern anything from afar before he went ahead and approached the castle gate. Atop the tree he pulls out from a satchel, a small telescope. He opens it and looks to the front gate.* "Sarurn... I hope that's no the best she could come up with.... I do admit thought, I will be late to seeing her if he's to stop me." *Faerin closes and puts away the telescope. He hops out of the tree and makes his way to the gate, humming a tune he had heard a troupe of performers playing on his way here. He enjoyed music quite thoroughly, and was the one thing he missed the most about home. Faerin stops before the first set of stairs leadin to the gate.* "Good day Sarurn! How are you?" *He says this with a traditional elven bow, but never takes his eyes off of Sarurn. Faerin had never been out-cooled, and Sarurn was his biggest competition yet. He enjoyed their encounters, they proved to be quite... fun, to say the least.*

"Ah, Lord Faerin, how good I've run into you!" Sarurn retorted kindly as he strolled a few feet to Faerin's side. "You look as well as I. My mother, the Queen Slene, has asked me to give you an escort of the innermost garden, my sister has been working on, before you attend her majesty." *Sarurn's arm and bare hand left the shadow of his cloak to gesture past the guards and to the right.* "If you would be so kind as to come this way..." *With his arm out, the night sky which lined the inside of his cloak was exposed and though the sun was bright, the stars within almost out shined it.*

"Well if you insist! I could never deny the beauty of your sister...'s work." *He strolled off in the direction that Sarurn indicated and turned his head to address Sarurn as he walked.* "Walk with me Sarurn! How is life treating you this fine day?"

" I am certain any one of them would blush to hear you say that, Lord Faerin." Sarurn smiled just a little bit as he followed Faerin a short ways before walking beside him. "My life is always most grand, Lord Faerin. I thank you for asking. My I inquire to your life at the moment. I understand the wall is causing some agitation to your plans." As they walked, they passed under several differently colored archways.
The front gate (where they had met) had a brown huge archway which featured two statues, one of either side of the gate. The left statue symbolized betrayal while the one opposite it symbolized loyalty. The gates themselves were gold.
The second archway was slightly smaller and made of brilliant reds. This archway featured two statues as well. One was a woman and one was a man, they leaned toward each other in a soft but passionate embrace(to create the arch itself). This gate was also golden.
The third stood apart from the first two as it did not have statues of people but instead there was an arch with writing in the language of dragons which read, "Change. Movement. Thought. Time." Which is the motto of such dragons as the ones who follow Dranchorius, the bearer of time. And at the top most part of the arch are two huge horn which swivel this way and that, modeled after Dranchorius's horns. This arch is soft shade of blue which almost seems to change in the sunlight, just subtly like the colors of the sea. The gate to this area is silver... and closed.
Sarurn quietly pushes open the silver gates and gestures for Faerin to continue inside. "After you, Lord Faerin." Sarurn never once took his eyes off of the fae, he knew a bit of their ways and did not intend to loose this one so far inside the palace walls. "It isn't much farther, only past the green arch and to the right..." (note for me: clear, white, Brown, Red, Blue, Green, orange, purple, Yellow)

"Sarurn, if you don't mind my asking.... Who built these beautiful archways? They are masterfully crafted. Nothing like an elven structure, but beautiful nonetheless." *Faerin walked, following the directions Sarurn had offered him.* he thought to himself "This could either be a very elaorate trap, or it genuine." *Faerin looked as if he were thinking hard about it, but I can asure you he was not. He was probably chasing some bird with his eyes, or trying to remeber the lyrics to a song. There was very little that Faerin took seriously.

Sarurn paused a moment as though it was difficult to remember or the name was forbidden. "These archways were each carved from stones that were here when this planet was created... Close your eyes a moment and I will show you what it looks like from above." Sarurn drew a picture which looked much like a bullseye, the inner most ring, the smallest, is yellow and they gradually get larger and the colors move from yellow to purple to orange to green to blue to red to brown to white and the last ring which ended the city bounty did not seem to have a visible color, and he gently placed this imagine within Faerin's mind. The vision caused a pleasant tingling in the fae's memory as Sarurn tucked it away, like an unspoken secret. He started walking again though slowly to make sure Faerin was with him. "This is our city. Each ring is a new barrier and with each barrier comes more protection. Now..." Sarurn said as he turned to face Faerin, a very serious look on his face. "If you have a weapon on you, of any kind, you can't pass the gate... I apologize for the inconvenience but you will be searched..."
Before them two great trees stretched to the sky, both had small blossoms, they were fruit baring trees but the fruit wasn't due for a few weeks more. Up and down the trunks something moved, it looked almost like liquid shadow as it climbed and slothed off of the tree in long strings. Between the two trees, an arch of beautiful greens and carved with leaves of all kinds stood tall. On it were the ever changing runes of the fae which read,"Harm none and no harm unto you." The gate on this arch was covered in vines so the color was hard to see.
Sarurn placed a hand on the vine covered gate and gestured for Faerin to do the same.

*Faerin smiled. The sight of the city from above was pretty, but the tingling was more pleasent than the image, so he lost interest quickly. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder," or so he had been told. And the beauty of this wolrd was incompareable to that of his world.*
"It's lovely Sarurn, and the search is of no matter."
*Faerin layed his hand on the archway, letting his heart open to that of the arch. It could search him as it pleased, but Faerin's only true weapon was his mind, and they could not take that.*
"So the gardens require this much protection hunh?"

"Kesk-oon-sya... It is not simply the gardens which get this protection. All along each barrier there are arches, each are slightly different. Within... eh- heh-" Sarurn stifled his laughter as the vines on the gate came to life and reached down the arms of those who touched them and gradually searched the bodies for weapons. "As I was saying, the garden is not the only thing within Athene's barrier, it is what sits on the south side... just to the right over there." Sarurn pointed though it was not possible to see through the foliage which lined the gates and walls. The vines receded(all but one which lay wrapped about Faerin's wrist as though it was hugging him) after not finding what the were looking for and they untangled themselves to let the gates free. "They are a perfect cross breed of animal and plant... Athene created them when she was very young and they have breed and become her dearest companions, she calls them Vife." Sarurn pulled the gate back as he walked through again. "Who knows, Lord Faerin, maybe the mother of vife is here... it is not an unusual time of day for her to be sun bathing..." Sarurn smirked though she also studied Faerin's reaction carefully. Sarurn led the way, to an average eye it would seem that they had already entered the garden but this was simply a flush of green to read the eye for the sea which stood before them a moment later, down a long stadium of steps. At the bottom of the steps is a small stream of clear fresh water... {I have tried to think of how to describe this place but it's better if you just use your imagination... it's the most similar woodland/greenery place to Faerin's home} "Well? What do you say, Lord Faerin?

"Must...not...loose... cool." He whispered to himself
*Faerin was taken aback by the beauty. In his long imprisonment in this world he had not laid eyes on anything as beautiful as this. Except for maybe the waitress at the cafe he had visited earlier.*
"It is gorgeous Sarurn. You must be proud to have such a talented sister. By my observation, there a very few things in this city as beautiful as this."
*Faerin begins to stroke the small vife that had made it's home on his wrist as he descends the stadium-like stairs. As he descends the stairs he notices someone laying on a rock, and he understands what Sarurn meant by "Mother of Vife."*
"Um..."
*Faerin blushes as he realizes that he is looking at Athene, who is completely lacking any clothes.*

Once the sun had passed its glory, the day was beautiful and her favorite rock was toasty warm, how could Athene pass up the opportunity to sun herself surrounded by her vife. She smiled as the sun bathed her skin and made every inch of her body feel warm and secure.
Equanid was still soaking in her small lily pond (~5' x 10'). She was having fun playing a squirting game with a water horse who had joined them out of the large pond ~30yards away. "Missed me!" she shouted before ducking under the water again, careful not to disrupt the lily roots.
"My sister is quite talented, in many ways... this is something she dreams about though... so she brings her dreams to life. Queen Slene said this garden looked much like some of the places she saw when she visited your world. Poor Athene... she has always wanted to visit your home- Is something wrong Lord Faerin?" Sarurn took a moment to follow Faerin's eyes. "... oh..." Sarurn nearly laughed but he held it back again. "She'll be surprised to see you here, and pleased." Sarurn added quietly, fore Athene had not intended for Faerin to know of her secret crush on him.

"Yes, well whnever she has been scheduled to visit the fates have had it that she is not able to."
*Well suffice to say, that was it. Faerin had expected Sarurn to react differently, but he had reacted completely opposite of what he had expected.Faerin lost his cool. Whether or not Sarurn had intended it, he did not know, but cool factor was mayday. Faerin couldn't take his eyes off her. For one so young her beauty and womanly development rivaled that of many Elves. It had been sometime since Faerin had seen Athene last, and she had changed quite a bit.*
"I..uh, are you sure it's okay? I mean won't she be mad?"

"It'll take more then this to make her angry. Athene is very well tempered, I think you may be surprised... Now if Chearay or Equanid are with her... then we might get an ear full. But no worries, you, Lord Faerin, can certainly handle it." Sarurn laughed softly and ushered Faerin down the steps. They would follow the dirt bed along the stream and come out of the woods again next to the sunning stones and the pond. "It's only a few minutes walk, and I love surprising my sisters!" The air under the tree cover became think and moist with short intervals of a cool breeze which swept over the stream as it formed a wind tunnel.
