As the topic title suggests this is where you can talk about the DVD release of the 1st Season. Feel free to discuss the episodes, the extras, the packaging, menus, etc...
Personally I was a little doubtful about what to expect when I saw the packaging for the DVDs. But when the main menu started up I could see that what was on the discs easily made up for how they looked.
The menus were great and it was nice to see original art used for the main menu. The animation for the transition between menus was a nice touch which I enjoyed. And the extras were top notch for this series. I would like to see more commentaries on any future discs since that was the highlight of the extras IMHO.
My biggest gripe though is the lack of chapter stops for the episodes. I couldn't see all the episodes in one go and it was a huge pain having to zoom forward or backward through the entire episode to get to the point I had to leave it off at. Just adding one chapter stop in the middle of the episode would be nice and make it much easier to wade through the scenes to find the one you want to see.

I thought all of the content was absoutely great! The one thing I would have changed on the DVD would be to take out the intro and the credits. I would have still kept them, but just placed the intro after the first episode and the credits after the last episode. Only really due to the fact that Ive seen these two parts many times, and would have liked less of an interuption between the episodes during the play all mode. But otherwise, the visual was great and so was the sound.

The lack of chapters annoyed me too. But it may be something that they are doing with cartoon releases - I have the same problem (lack of chapters) with my B:TAS dvds.
I loved the commentaries, they were quite interesting. Often movies commentaries can get boring, but Greg's enthusiam for the show really carried over.
I loved The Gathering featurette, mainly cos I spotted myself and a lot of my friends in it ^_^

I'm in several crowd shots ^_^ Uh, when they pan across the people taking photos of the costumes, I'm the one with short dark hair in the shite shirt. I'm also in a crowd pan shot at the radioplay. Front row. Short dark hair, glasses, dark shirt. Clapping like a fool smile

I really enjoyed being able to see this show again.
But I was all psyched up when I saw the option that read 'Backstage Disney'. I was hoping it'd be more indepth for character design development, or the different animation teams used, or something. And then it wasn't even an option. *glare*
Did anyone else notice the differences in the quality of animation? There must have been two teams working on it, or two different art directors, or something. Every so often you'd get pictures of the Gargoyles that were *so far* off... I can't think of the specific episodes, I'll have to check when I get home.

wulfae Did anyone else notice the differences in the quality of animation? I had noticed that too, before watching the DVD. And on the DVD comentarry it was said that there were two different teams for the animation, which resulted in different qualitys.

GargGuy wulfae Did anyone else notice the differences in the quality of animation? ::waves:: I did. But, I'm obsessed with watching quality of animation, I could point out and tell you which Aladdin cartoon episodes were made in Australia b/c their style is so squishy. I wanted to get into animation myself, and maybe perhaps someday I will...but for now, I just need to graduate and get a job. xp Something about the DVD I just loved were the two main screens of the DVD's. I enjoyed watching the screen pan through each gargoyle as the sun set, and then pan back as each gargoyle awoken and flew away. I was tickled when I noticed on disk one the BG was castle Wyvern, and on disk two it was a city scape (Manhatten I will presume) and that the music differed slightly on each disk to better go with the surroundings. (I'm not the only one who can hear kids laughing/playing in the background on disk two, right?)
