NASCAR has said that it is possible in the future to scale back the number of cars in each of the series. 28 in the Trucks and Nationwide Series and 36 in the Cup series.
OPINIONS:
It's a sign of the changing times and if it's necessary, then I guess it has to go that way.I would prefer it if this didn't happen, but lately the Craftsman truck series and the Nationwide series have not had a full field show up to race.

YIKES! gonk They'd have to modify the top-35 in points rule, otherwise, only 1 car that wasn't locked in would get to race. Shrink that rule to top-30 or so, and that puts even MORE pressure on the smaller teams. One more step away from the small teams and one more to the huge, 4-car powerhouse teams. sad I think the sport would lose far more than it would gain.

I think depending on how many pit stalls they can fit per track, they should try to cram as many cars on the track as they can.
I think they could easily fit 50 cars on the track at Talladega =D

i think this is hearsay, it might happen in nationwide, but that wouldn't be a big deal compared to cup, there are too many good teams to reduce the field in cup.

hotaru_keikoku well there are already 49 cars attending daytona so i doubt smaller fields will be a worry this year. True Ture, they should base the field by how large or small the track is. Bigger the track, more the cars. Talladega-50 cars Bristol-38 cars Atlanta-43 cars Just a basis..
