But I have no point sad
ADMINISTRATIVE EDIT: This is where conversations in threads go to settle themselves. This also serves as a place to house conversation not necessarily devoted to a given topic.

Perhaps you are spam? We do so try to avoid that here...Or have you a hidden message that in my sleep deprived state I have overlooked?

Perhaps I am not spam, but simply a place to chat. And I have no direction, but do we look down upon that here?

Sweet Lovely Death Whoo~an actual place to chat. :] Indeed I had been kicking around the notion of creating one of these, but had decided not to as really every thread was intended to be a place to chat...But I suppose to be free of the topical tyranny of a certain diminutive red-head who habitually oversteps her authority, such a thing is a creation if necessity.

Well really, do we have a topic? lol. Hmm.
Well, ok...do any of you have cell phones? Is there any type of phone you would get if you were able to?

I'm not sure why one would ask that as the vast majority of people in this day and age have a cell phone. It's like cable television and the Internet: people have them whether they can afford it or not.
As for any type of phone one wants, I want an old-fashioned hand-crank phone.

Sara seriously...Why would you even say that? Even if you do perceive some sort of style to them, I would refuse to have a machine in this house as contrary as you are. Really, isn't the phone we have antiquated and unreliable enough for you?

Actually, Sara, contrary to what you believe to be true (and heaven knows you believe you are always right) that is just not the case. Not everyone has a cell phone, and there are a very large percentage of people out there that even if they do have one, wish they had a better one.
The reason I asked this very question is because my friend is actually looking into buying his first cell phone (oh my, look there...another person that defies your "always right" attitude) and I had been wondering if most everyone here had one, or if they wished they had one, etc.
So I'm going to stand by my original question:
Do most of you have cell phones? If you do or don't, what type would you want? I know I myself if I had one (oh look, someone else without a cell phone!), would like something like a Blackberry (Storm particularly). :]

Yes, getting back to the original question at hand, I (like the overwhelming majority of everyone that falls between their mid to late teens through senior citizens) have a cell-phone. It, in and of itself is simple and no frills. I don't think I want (or could even justify owning) anything like a blackberry or one of those devices that does about 300 different things, internet access being one of them. As cool as it would be to be able to get on the internet while on a bus or something, most of my down-time is spent on a train where such a device assuredly would not work...Besides, if I could get on-line anywhere, when would I ever make the time to read a book? Indeed it may be sad to say, but I need to be situationaly separated from the internet to not be making use of it...Oh, how I need a face-to-face social life... In any case with the things I want to do when I'm on the internet (typing up long entries of text, for example), such a device would only frustrate me...Eh, I had more to say, but after advice from a by-stander and a reminder of tests, I've lost my train of thought...And suddenly have more important things to do than discussing cell-phones...For now.

There is a difference between majority and all. Your friend there is in a small minority. Most children I know have cell phones of their own, not just mum's or dad's. Also, there is absolutely no need to take a snarky attitude with me, miss. I was explaining that in my world, I know of few people who do not have cell phones. Perhaps it is different in Columbus, Ohio. I don't know. I've never been there. I did absolutely nothing wrong, and I am tired of you always thinking that I am attacking you.

Perhaps it could be that you make everything into a debate. It's a thread for fun...please, not a theoretical discourse.
I think that for you, Josh...yeah, I can see you not getting a very frills-laden phone. I know that I love documentation (perhaps best framed by my work to my final masters in Library Sciences) and having that in ultimate form with something like the new Blackberry is just too much awesome for me to pass up. :]

I have had a cell phone for about a year, after constantly hinting at it. My twin brother and I were to "share" one, but he's a greedy b*****d, if you haven't noticed. Finally, about a month after I got my license, I got a cell phone, mainly for safety purposes. My first phone was a Samsung BlackJack I love that thing. My dogs decided to take it off the table, and cracked the screen. Months went by, and I was still using a little "Pay As You Go" phone, with my SIM card in it. In May (If I remember correctly), my mom bought me another BlackJack. Shortly after I got it, it was rained on, though. It doesn't work as good as my old one did before it was chewed on, but I love it, none the less. I don't know why, but I detest BlackBerries. I don't know why, I just never have.
