Karupin opened his blue eyes slowly, blinking away the last remnants of sleep. He yawned before climbing to her legs and stretching, bending down forward and then back up to his regular stance. He tossed his long mane, heading out from underneath the oak tree that usually served as his napping place. It was still sunny out, Karupin had actually expected to have been sleeping till it was past dark again, it was a bit of a relief for it to still be sunny out since nighttime was scary for a little guy like him. He chuckled a bit, walking through the grass and leaves as well that were on the ground. It was well into autumn now, leaves were falling and falling and falling, well it was understood that the leaves were continuously not so much on their trees but on the ground instead, ah that was autumn. He chuckled again.
He pranced a little bit, switching it up that he was almost bouncing through the grass and trying to avoid the fallen leaves as much as he possibly could. It was a game and Karupin was definitely enjoying himself. He did it for a little bit more and then stopped, instead going to a light trot. He passed by many trees as he continued on his merry way, he passed little critters too but Karupin had no time for little chit-chat, no he had important things to do. For one, he needed something in his stomach, badly. To accentuate that he was indeed very hungry, his stomach gave a loud rumbling gurgling sound. "What to eat, what to eat. So many decisions and must make one because this belly of mine won't fit all that I want to eat inside of it." He voiced his thoughts while going over the many choices of food in his head.

Meanwhile, Claude was in epic battle with a low hanging tree branch. He had been for some time now ever since he pushed it aside and it came back and thwapped his rear. claude did not like the branches actions so he retaliated, only to have it swing back at him! Now it was on like Donkey Kong! Rearing up on his hind legs he called, "Back, foul beast!" and he surged forward, hitting the tree branch firmly with his head. An audible thunk obviously signalling that Claude had not hit the branch right. he tumbled forward and almost lost his footing. But with some fast hoof work and totally control over his sinyewy leg Claude went back at the evil tree limb with new ferocity.
"I'll shall teach you to challenge a nobal knight such as myself! Have at you!" And with that and a great flap of his red and orange wings he took to the air - well, he lifted high enough to strike the branch with considerable force, any way. But the recoil proved to strong for him and as he was gloating for a moment about the limbs retreat it swung back at him and sent him hurtling right at an Usdia he never saw.

Now, Karupin was in a daze at the moment, still thinking on what to eat that he hardly noticed the winged Soquili. The first indication of the others presence was when he heard the voice. His head turned in the direction of the voice, blue eyes curious at what the commotion was all about. He couldn't help himself, a smile formed as he watched the others choice in sparring partner. He laid himself down, watching still.
He was a little guy, probably still bigger than Karupin was but it was obvious that this one had not reached adulthood yet. That was fine with him, foals seemed easier to get along with anyhow, perhaps because of the more closer height range. But nah Karupin was always all right with adults, so it couldn't be that.
"Ooh." Karupin's eyes widened as the little guy took flight, not that high off the ground but still mighty impressive for an Usdia who had never seen a Soquili flying before. "Uh oh." Karupin backed away quickly as the foal came flying back towards him.

Claude landed with a thud next to the Usdia right on his rear so that it sat in a rather odd position. His head tilted as he tried to figure out what happened. To his dismay the branch jutted out unscathed and irritatingly springing back and forth. He shook it slightly and growled, getting into a more dignified position. "The mark of a true knight is having the honor to admit defeat... but I will be back," he mused quietly, whipping the dust from his bum using his tail.
It was then he noticed the Usdia next to him. He cocked his head and said, "You look like my mother!" He beamed and said, "I thought her and Sweet were the only ones that small!" He chuckled and stood back. He stuck on hoof out and bowed gracefully. "My deem is Claude, may I ask yours?"

He eyed the other, thoughtfully. He was a strange one but something about him made Karupin even more curious. "Oh really?" Karupin was in disbelief, this one's mother was his size? Karupin just could not fathom that, normal mare Soquili were always bigger than him, there just was no way this foal could have a mother Karupin's size.
"And your mother and this Sweet fellow are truly my size?" Karupin asked, surprise evident in his voice. "I can't imagine them to be my size, for normal Soquili are so much taller." He shook his head, it just could not be true, right?
"My friend's call me Karupin, so you may call me that too, yes?" He chuckled a little, it was a sort of dumb introduction to himself but it allowed him to laugh, if just for a little bit. Karupin enjoyed laughter. Happiness was 100% better than any other emotion, after all.

Claude thought about the question for a moment. He'd never considered it. Scarlet had always said that a family was about love, not appearences. but he supposed he always never truely belonged. It never bothered him. It was just a fact. He was different, not of his families blood. He pondered this and said slowly, "I suppose I'd be adopted... but Scarlet is still my mother. She found me as a basket and raised me." He smiled and shook out his mane.
Again Claude pondered. "Karupin. That sounds like a nice name! My mother says you can tell a lot about others from thier names." He realized he was rambling and cut himself off. Knights didn't ramble. "Pleasure to meet you Karupin!" He bowed slightly and continued. "What brings you out this way?"

"That was good of her. Adopting you and raising you. Better than being all alone in the world, you've had the taste of love, family, heck maybe even competition among siblings if you've got them? That Sweet your brother? Or sister?" Karupin was curious about Claude, he'd been an adult for awhile now and well his parents had passed on.
Claude seemed to come from a good home and size didn't matter even though admittedly Karupin had never heard of such a thing before. He needed to get out more, meet more Soquili and see the numerous differences they all had among one another.
"Really? I never knew that. I've never considered that you can tell a lot about a Soquili, just by the name they've been given. That's very interesting." Karupin nodded, thinking on it. "Claude, Claude." He repeated slowly to himself. "I don't think I have the talent for it, guess there's practice needed with it or your mother has a real gift for getting to know a Soquili, just by their name."
His stomach gave a bit of a rumble. Karupin sheepishly grinned. "Truthfully, I'm in these parts because of my stomach. Can't live without food." He chuckled, feeling embarrassed by the sounds of his hungry belly.

Claude nodded fervently. His mother was, in his opinion, the sweetest mare ever to walk the earth. He beamed as he swelled with pride at his mother and went on. "I don't know what I would have done without her," he mused silently, more to himself then to the usdia. "She taught me about the knights and told me I could be one, she ever gave me my first helm!" He giggled at the last question. Sweet would have a fit if he was called a mare to his face. "He's my brother, named for my grandmother."
"I learned from my mother, who is quite perceptive. Sweet and I think it's from her terribly simplistic out look on the world. She doesn't see all the grey, she simply sees the black and the white. This allows her to cut right to the heart of everything and take it apart so she can understand it. She's highly intellegent." He swelled again at his mother's wisdom.
He prances a little and said, "Well, if you are hunger, good sir, I shall lead you to some of the sweetest clover I have ever tasted!" He flittered his semi useless wings and bounced a little. Knight or not, he was still an easily excited child.

"And are you considered a knight now?" Karupin was curious, he never met a Soquili who was a knight before. It was a new experience for him. "Ah, so he is your brother."
"She sounds like an amazing mother. I'd like to meet her someday, see what she thinks of my name." He laughed, though he did wonder what she might see, just by his name.
Karupin watched as Claude fluttered his wings, he had momentarily forgot about them. "Lead away, I'm definitely hungry." He was, as another rumble came from his stomach. He came closer to Claude, ready to head off. His blue eyes looked at the wings again. "Are you able to fly well? I've never encountered a Soquili with wings before."

Claude blushed. Thankfully his red colring hid that fact. "No. I'm yet in training. But someday I'll be a full knight!" He puffed out his chest and furrowed his brow. "Well, I suppose I'd first need a squire... and a nobel steed... unless... I AM the steed... maybe a familiar... I'd like a lion. Fearless lion... that sounds fitting." As he mumbled he'd begun to move forward a little. Finally he realized his rambeling and blushed again.
The mention of his mother sent him into another fit of praise. "Oh yes, she has mroe then enough love and efection for every soquili in the lands, and then some for anything else that comes her way!" He chuckled, picking up his pace to his favorite meadow. "No doubt she'd tell you more than I have. Like what you think, how you feel most of the time. She'd quite insightful."
He pondered this last question. He could flutter just fine. Hoivering was difficult, but not impossible. But flying... "I've never tried real flying. Mother says it's best not until I meet a grown winged soquili. That way I don't hurt myself. Mostly I just flutter or hover." He grinned and raised his speed to a trot.

"The training seems like it'd be a challenge. But you gotta do what you gotta do." He nodded, walking along with Claude. He didn't know where they were going but Claude seemed like he knew, hopefully he did since admittedly Karupin had gotten lost many times before and it wasn't something he enjoyed. But perhaps getting lost by yourself was less enjoyable than it was with others? Perhaps.
"I think you may be the steed, makes sense." He chuckled. "I have a lion, name is Kadri. She can be a pain sometimes, our personalities conflict many times but I do enjoy her company though lately she's been taken to stay at a teepee with this male lion so I've been alone more often." He continued to walk, to the location that Claude was taking them to.
He smiled. Claude sure loved his mother, though she did sound like an amazing mare so that was understandable. Hearing such affection, made him miss his mom. He could remember her being kind and loving, she had passed on by the time he reached adulthood as did his dad and that had been a long time ago. But still he missed them.
"It would be best to be taught how to fly by a grown winged Soquili, you could get hurt trying it on your own." Karupin nodded. He hurried to catch after Claude, they may be somewhat similar in height but Claude was still taller and with Karupin's short legs it was harder to keep up. Also, foals tended to have more energy than adults did and Karupin had definitely been an adult for awhile now.
