Lanette walked through the scrubs of the west, the sun beating down on her. She hated being out in the horrid day time but she was getting over being sick so she had to find food. She'd slept through the entire night which was odd for her who usually rose as the moon did. She was looking for water where she could find fish. Her body was a little to weak to hunt anything else.

Laying next to one of the few watering holes the west held Kutiel panted softly. He had taken the risk of leaving the larger but more over poplutated watering hole he had been at before. And under the hot sun the crackling ground had been harsh on his paws so he had started to run. Shaking his head likely Kutiel crossed one of his front paws over the other before resting his head on them.

It was another twenty minutes before Lanette heard the sound of sound of water. She just prayed it wasn't hallucinations because not only was she weaker from the Sun and hunger but she was now on the verge of dehydration. Panting softly, she trotted in the direction of the sound of a watering hole. She broke through the tall, dried yellow weeds and found another white and black helix. He was big and brawny but looked like he was just as exhausted as she was. Being very careful, Lanette walked around the side of the watering hole, opposite to the other helix and dipped down to take quick gulps of water.

Ears flickering at the sound of movement in the grass Kutiel slowly rose not want to loose this water hole to a collection of prey animals. Rising slowly with a deep and low growl Kutiel stood with his hackles rasied as he turned to glance at what had invaded the area around his newly found watering hole.

Lanette faltered back from the water as the male growled at her. She trained her eyes on his, staring into to them to try and convey that she was not a threat and would be gone after a drink or two. She could have to settle for a meerkat or bird. Her tail was limp but not tucked. She wasn't going to be treated like a lower class wolf but she knew better than to challenge a male suited for alpha rank.

"Oh your just a lower ranked female" Wrinkling his nose Kutiel sat back on his hind end with a slight huff. " I thought you were more prey animals coming to over run of of the few watering holes left in the my lands...the lands" Tongue hanging out slightly Kutiel stood again moving closer to edge of the water before lowering his head to take a sip.

Lanette stared, lightly miffed that she was called a 'lower rank female'. Growling slightly, she stood straight, her arching just a little. "I'm not in ranking yet, Sir." She slurred the word somewhat and leaned down to drink more. Perhaps she was going to fish here after all. She never took her eyes off the male as she studied his markings more. He was colored just like the fish in her home lands. It was forbidden to eat because it was supposed to be a 'holy creature'. Was this male a god? As that thought, her tail again went limp and rested on the ground behind her.

"A young one?" Shaking his head slightly Kutiel backed away from the watering hole a few feet. His head always held high, proud and royal in the way he held himself Kutiel as any Alpha would. Rearing up Kutiel dove foward arching his body as he landed in the water with a small splash.

Lanette was now soaked from her head down to the middle of back. She stared at him, expression blank, ears flat. "Thaaanks.." she mumbled shaking her fur from dripping to damp. "Lots." she added, but it did feel good to cool off a little from the heat. The dehydration was no longer a threat. Heh.

" Water is good for you young one" Paddling around the watering hole Kutiel smiled. " There are still fish in this hole it probably connected to one of the rivers in the wet season." Rearing up the best he could Kutiel dove beneath the water surface.

Lanette crept a smile back and lunged herself into the water also, nearly covering her head. She giggled a little, the water temperature was expected to be warm but in fact, it was quite cooling. Padding around, her feet disrupted the settled dirt floor.

Rising out of the water after several moments, Kutiel grinned around the fish in his mouth. Paddling back to the water's edge Kutiel shook his head once hard killing the fish before dropping it and paddling back into the water. " Fish in the deeper end."

Lanette looked at the fish he had caught and tilted her head. "hmm.." padding toward the deeper area's, her feet not reaching the ground anymore. She took a deep breath, sunk under the surface, and looked around. It was a little murky and hard to see but she could see movements of creatures. She lunged forward, opening her mouth to grasp a fish but it swam just out the reach of her fangs, resurfacing with nothing, Lanette gasped for air.
