The President has announced the Hydrogen Bomb. A cold war is taking place. People are wearing simple clothing, and everything seems black and white. The latter is most likely an error in space-time.

The Crystal orb arrived and dropped Aizel 5 feet below. It remained in place, only visible to himself.
Aizel found himself in a dark back alley. It was raining something fierce, but some amount of rain was kept from falling straight due to awnings on each building of the alley. It looked something like... Chicago, or Detroit... Or maybe... Durem? It was hard to tell just where it was, but a newspaper riding the wind landed at Aizel's feet, and it had the number 1953 in the top corner.

'Y-You're kidding me,' he muttered, having spotted the date on the newspaper.
How the hell did he get here? Just what in the name of sanity did MK do?

A cat hissed from a dumpster nearby, and it sounded as gunshot went off not too far in the distance. The clanging sound of a metal door echoed through the alley, and the sound of glass shattering followed.

'Flamin' hell!' Aizel whispered, and ducked down next to the dumpster, using it as a meagre hiding place.

The cat lashed out at Aizel's head as he got too close. There was a break in the clouds and moonlight shined down into the alley.

'Ouch...' Aizel whispered, as the cat scratched him across the bridge of his nose, making his eyes water. He hastily stepped back, peering about to see who, if anyone, was nearby.

A light flickered behind him, hanging loosely over a large white door. The paint was chipped and it seemed to not quite fit the frame it was held in. The cat retreated into the dumpster, and the rain came down harder. An awning directly overhead started making a ripping sound, and the metal bars holding it started to creak.

Not particularly liking the idea of getting his head smashed in, Aizel hastily retreated through the door. Once through, he pressed himself up against it, breathing slowly, and wondering how in the hells he was going to get back to the facility.

The air inside was heavy. Thick. Smoky... No lights were on within, but a small red ember could be seen in the far corner of the room. It seemed to get dimmer and brighter at random, though it was too hard to make anything out.

Aizel tugged off his visor and eyepiece, slipping them both in his pocket. The last thing he needed was to strain to see when everything looked green.
With one last look back at the closed door, he headed over to the only source of light, to try and see where he was.

"Stop right there. You got my money?"
A voice spoke from behind the ember, and with a big puff, it shined bright enough to show it was the end of a cigar. Aizel must have run into someone. Not a good someone.

'J-Jacob? I'm not Jacob,' Aizel replied, now wishing he had stayed out in the alleyway.
