~The Underground~
The year is 2590. The existence of beings called the Abnormals was brought to the attention of the government ninety years ago. Since then all Abnormals have been taken away, quarantined and experimented on to see if they can find a way to stop this phenomenon. All children, when they’re born, are tested for the genes that identify an Abnormal. If you have it, they monitor you for your whole life until you’re ten, then they take you away to the Institute with no warning, whisking you away in the dead of night. There you’re tested, poked, pummeled, injected and made to wish you had never been born. You meet others there, undergoing the same treatment in Wards. There are six Wards. There is a one for Lycans, Vampires, Witches, Shamans, Psychics and Kinetics. All of you meet at lunch, except for the ones that are classified as ‘dangerous.’ That’s the Lycans and others they’ve driven criminally insane. If you survive the testing, after ten years they’ll kick you out into the Wasteland with absolutely nothing but the clothes on your back, which tend to be of a very poor quality.
Out in the Wasteland you have even less chance of survival than if you were still there, being tested and waiting to die. The earth has been permeated with iron oxide, or rust, till nothing can grow there except mutated, twisted things. If you don’t die, if you find a way to survive, you’ve probably found the Underground, or you’ve survived long enough for the Underground to find you. If you find the Underground it will welcome you, nourish you and make you as whole as you can get in whatever state of mind you’re in. It is your Father and your Mother, and you will not stray unless you want to die. Some have done this; tired of the mockery of life they find themselves in. The Underground will respect this decision and let you die, bury you or your ashes and mourn you when you’re gone. It’s hard, never knowing when you’ll eat or drink next, never knowing if you’ll die today, and join the rest of the graves or live ridiculously long. It’s hard, but the Underground will help you if you let it. It will nurture you to the best of its ability and give you companionship if you want it.
Some find a special person to help them in the hard times and hold them in the good, and sometimes children come of it. The Children of the Waste are rare, and guarded like treasures. The Children are crossbreeds more often then not, but they are always cherished no matter what they look like. As some have said, they’re the only real things that keep us going except for the warmth of the Underground. The Institute has figured out that some of us survive, and also figured out that we breed, here in the safety of the Underground. They send out search parties, but none have ever found the Underground. We try to make sure none of them go back alive, either. It’s all they deserve for torturing our kind. Once there was a family that chose to live on the surface. A Lycan and a Kinetic and their Child. A scouting party found them and when they got to the Underground the Child was gone and both were in deep shock. The Lycan, the father, had tried to fend them off but had failed. He died in the Underground’s ethereal arms of the injuries inflicted by the soldiers. The mother’s power warped in on her and she went insane, and killed herself. No one has ever lived on the surface since.
The Underground is a being in itself. An ethereal power that surrounds us and loves us. The Psychics say that we created the Underground through our powerful need to live and take comfort in something combined with all our inherent Power. Since then the Underground has become an individual entity, fed from the superfluous power we give it, and helping us in return. Most of the help it gives us is in training our latent Power and untangling what the Institute has done to it. Most have a specific area they are trained in; focusing that part of their power until they can rein it in and use it like nature meant them to. The Underground can heal your mind of the scars they gave you there, if you let it. Some can even begin to remember what life was like before the Institute, when they were young and happy. Sometimes the life dealt out for you is too much, even with the love and assistance of the Underground, sometimes there is nothing at all you feel can save you from damnation, and sometimes you just can’t stay another minute and you have to go, or die. The Underground will respect your decision and let you leave, but it’s always there with you in your mind, and eventually, when you’ve settled down you come back, and live out your days in peace.
Some of the Underground is becoming increasingly angry about the persecution, and there are rumors of rebellion, of destruction and chaos. Where will your path lead you?

~Things You Need to Know~
Follow the rules of the guild Races are things you’re born with. There are no cross-races. Therefore you cannot be a Vampire Werecat. It just doesn’t work. Vampires and Lycans are not undead or diseased. They are born with their powers/abilities/curses. No romance above an R rating, please. Romance is, however, encouraged. Please keep swearing down to a moderate level.
~A Quick Overview of Races~ Lycans: You change form into some sort of animal. The full moon forces this transformation and makes you run on base instincts, but otherwise you can change at will Vampires: You thrive on blood and can charm others with your abundant charisma. Sunlight burns you, and normal food makes you ill Witches: The four elements are your weapons and powers. A Witch can use one element with no limits and a second with less proficiency. The elements must complement each other Shamans: Nature is at your beck and call. Animals and plants alike are your friends and allies Psychics: You can speak to others with your mind, and in some ways influence them Kinetics: You can move physical objects with your mind

Username: Fuzen_Komadori Character Name: Feona Nadir Age: 21 Birth Date: January 12th, 2569 Race: Witch, earth/water Appearance: Feona has chocolate-colored skin and bright purple eyes. Her long black hair is usually kept up in a French braid. She’s about five-foot even, and weighs 90 pounds. She wears typical clothes of an Underground dweller, a skirt made of multicolored patches and breast-bindings with no shirt. She has rough leather moccasins for shoes and leather arm-and-shin guards. She wields a heavy wood pole with great proficiency. By no means call it a stick, if you value your skull. History: She was taken to the Institute at age ten and dropped in the Waste at age twenty. She remembers little of her life before the Institute, and would like to forget her life in it. She found the Underground after two weeks of wandering the Waste. She has made a living for herself as a tanner in the Underground. She is the leader of the faction that believes the residents of the Underground should rise and reclaim their place in the world.
She holds a great fascination with what Undergrounders call the Other World. She knows of technology, and would love to learn about it. She also wants to save more families from the fate all Abnormals go through. She’s an idealist who dreams of a world where Abnormals and Normals can live in peace, and she would do anything to see that goal through. She’s also hot-tempered and longs for revenge. Notes: Feona tasted chocolate once and is always craving more. She’s also allergic to silver.
Username: Galad Damodred Character Name: Alexander Ventrue Age: 24 Birth Date: April 3, 2566 Race: Psychic Appearance: Alex is tall and slender, with long, graceful limbs. His skin is pale and smooth as porcelain, and his features are precise, delicate and statuesque, calling to mind ancient Greek sculpture. He has high cheekbones and tilted, catlike grey eyes, framed by waist-length black hair. He typically wears loose, comfortable clothing. History: Alexander was taken into the Institute at the age of ten and was thrown into the Waste ten years later. Of his life before the Institute, he remembers only his parents; kind, gentle people who wept and fought and struggled as he was taken away. After finding the Underground, Alex found his niche as a teacher, rediscovering his love of books after finding the tiny collection of books that the other Abnormals had collected and tortuously teaching himself to read again. He teaches the less academically inclined their numbers and letters, and what little he knows of science and history.
Alexander takes the meaning of his name very seriously, and is something of a pacifist. He goes to great lengths to prevent conflict and help others, but this is balanced by his naturally proud and unyielding nature which helped him survive the Institute. He spends his time walking a fine line; on one side is his pacifist, mild demeanor, on the other is his defiant, passionate nature. He staunchly opposes the killing of Institute search parties and the faction of the Underground that desires revenge and thinks that making war is the only path to equality, yet at the same time he knows that bloodshed may be inevitable, and that the Institute must be stopped and what it does should be punished. Notes: Alex's prized possessions are his journals, in which he has recorded his life since he found the Underground. They are a day-to-day record of his activities, his thoughts and ideas. He keeps them secret, knowing that many of his ideas would be highly unpopular. He is fiercely protective of the tiny library that has been delivered into his keeping, as well as the books he has managed to "rescue" from the city's dumps in the Waste.
Username: Pad_foot Character Name: Keeley Whenhaver Age: 19 Birth Date: December x, 2571 Race: Kinetic Appearance: Blonde tangled hair swept in a low swoop bang from a side part, usually hiding one of her deep blue eyes. Keeley is of average height and build with boney shoulders, her olive skin is slightly pale from being cooped up in the Institute for ten years. History: Born to her parents, a fourth of five children and the second to be abnormal. She was taken away at ten, just like every other abnormal and she kicked and screamed and cried as she was torn away from her parents, certainly the typical story for abnormal. She has spent close to her full ten years there and it is almost her time to be thrown out into the wasteland. Not knowing much about it, just the fact that ten years later usually around age twenty people disappear off of the ward once again with no warning, and Keeley is honestly scared of what might happen. But honestly, its more of not knowing what is going to happen to her fear, because anywhere is better than the institute. Notes: Keeley is an endless ball of energy, who is constantly happy or excited about something or another. She is optimistic and loves to learn. She is full of questions and will not hesitate to start throwing them at you. Her time in the institute has caused her to become frustrated and annoyed easier and easier, she is now known to be quick tempered. Keeley is still young at heart, even at almost twenty and being in the institute for 10 years.
